“If I let go…will you catch me?”

He had wanted her to help him win his ex-girlfriend back. She had wanted to teach him a few lessons on how to treat a woman. Neither one had planned for the unexpected.

I couldn't stand by and watch. It hit too close to home. I had to run fast and far to get away and forget him. He weaseled his way into my life, making me question rules I lived by and turned my orderly life upside down. I'm falling apart and coming undone. I don't do that. I'm Madison Stuart. I live life by my rules. I won't be derailed by a man. I won't...I can't.

She's gone. I'm desperate and going insane. I'll do whatever it takes to find her. Nothing’s going to keep me away from her. I don't know when it happened, but I won't let her go, not like this. What has she done to me? I'm Rick Marin for crying out loud. I don't chase women, but she's not just any woman. She's Maddy—my Maddy—and I need her.

Follow Rick and Madison’s story, The Do Over’s most notorious couple, as they learn that It’s Not Over.

This is unedited and subject to change:

I looked over at her, and I saw it. Fuck, I saw it. There it was. Her eyes lit up, and her mouth opened in a huge smile. She reached over and hugged me. With her head buried in my neck, she said, “I’m proud of you. I knew you could do it.”
I wrapped my arms around her and closed my eyes, breathing in her scent. “I had to tell you first.” I held onto her almost not wanting to let go, but I pulled back and smiled, looking in her eyes and then lowering them to her mouth. I wanted to kiss her, to feel her lips against mine, and my tongue in her mouth. Soon enough—not until I made things right.
I looked away and over at the bag, opening it and changing up the mood between us. I couldn’t go there with her, especially not after what had happened on New Year’s. As I pulled out the container from the bag, her eyes widened, and she bit her lower lip.
“Well, well, well, Mr. Marin. I think you’ve done really well tonight and made up for behaving like a savage when you first arrived.”
“I knew you’d approve.” I handed it to her while I went to reach for my fork, and she greedily tucked it toward her chest. “You’re not going to share with me?” I teased.
“Rick, this is chocolate pudding cake from Prime 112. It’s my weakness.”
“I see that I’ve found your kryptonite, but since I don’t want you to have any regrets in the morning, I’ll help you eat it.” I reached over and sliced a corner with my fork, lifting it to her mouth. I watched as her eyes followed the fork, and her mouth opened for me as she slowly closed her eyes. Fuck, my dick was getting hard.
She wrapped her lips around the fork and slid the morsel off, moaning softly. She opened her eyes after she swallowed that first piece of decadence and said, “Oh.my.god. That’s divine. Thank you.”
“Anything for you,” I said, as we began eating the cake slowly on the bench. When there was only one bite left, I looked over at her, watching her savor that last piece, and said, “You were wrong about me.”
“I highly doubt that,” she responded, wiping a smudge of chocolate from the corner of her mouth with her finger.
I reached my hand over and took hold of her tantalizing chocolate-covered finger and brought it to my lips. I glanced up and caught her storming eyes. My lip curled before I opened my mouth and licked the chocolate clean. I didn’t want to stop with just her finger, but I had to keep my focus, so I laid her hand back down on her lap.

“You were. I’m not the same man that you first met. I’ve made some really shitty choices, but my intentions were in the right place. I’m going to prove it to you and Daniela that I’m that man, the better one. You’ll see. Tomorrow, everything will be right, and the way it’s supposed to be.”
