BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW: REBEL BY CALLIE HART

rebel bb4.jpg
JESSICA'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

This book isn't your everyday motorcycle book. It has violence, sex and love. I personally believe this is a motorcycle book for the light hearted.
Rebel, oh where  do I start.  I think from the beginning something about him just pulled me in. The president of the Widow Makers, MC has a mysterious side. His life is all about his motorcycle club and working things out for it. That is until he meets Sophia. "A means to an end, my friend. And, come on, she's hardly ugly."
Alexis, a college student, with a Christian upbringing has it all going for her and until she witnesses a crime. She  brings a whole new meaning to the saying "being in the wrong place at the wrong time." Thank goodness for her she catches the eye of the Widow Makers VP.  When she and Rebel meet, it has everything but flying sparks.
"Young women run away and lock themselves in motel rooms with hot bikers all the time, sugar." I found Rebel to be a good and quick read. Storyline flowed together great. The ending, in my opinion, could use some further closer. However,  it wouldn't stop me from reading this book again. I hope there is a second  book in the making.

EXCERPT (NEW)
“You gonna sit down or what?”
I sit down. Arguing with him would be futile. We sit there, side by side, staring off down the arrow-straight road, and for a moment I don’t hate him. He pulls a cell phone out of his pocket and taps something into it, and then he turns to face me, frowning slightly.
“You believe in vengeance?”
“You mean like revenge?”
He shakes his head. “Revenge is a selfish act. Retaliation for something. Vengeance is a different thing altogether. It’s about obtaining justice, usually for someone who can’t claim it for themselves.”
This is an odd line of questioning but I decide I’ll bite. Maybe I wouldn’t if he were being a jerk like he was a couple of hours ago, but that’s not what’s happening. He’s pensive, the live wire that apparently runs through him dulled for the moment. “I don’t know,” I say. “Probably, in that case.”
“What if I simplified the question?
What if I say, do you believe in justice?
“Then, yes, I do believe.”

EXCERPT
“You think you use your brain when you’re having sex?”

Rebel’s pen freezes on the paper. He turns, then, towering over me, my face level with his belt buckle. It’s as though I can literally feel the heat rolling off his body. He’s intimidating and overwhelming, his presence a powerful force to be reckoned with.

“Oh, Sophia. I use my brain. Every time I sleep with a woman, I’m using my head to figure out what she likes. How she likes it. What I can do to have her screaming my name until her throat’s raw.”

rebel bb3.jpg

Excerpt
“It’s time for you to tell me your name.” She arches an eyebrow at me. I can just imagine her getting them waxed in some fancy fucking boutique beauty parlor in Seattle, run by Asian hipsters with shaved undercuts and thick glasses. She seems like the type. “Why do you want to know?” she asks, cockiness filling her voice.
“I’m asking because I need something to call you. And if you don’t tell me your name, I’m going to be forced to call you One Eighty-One. And I’m guessing you won’t like being called One Eighty-One.”
“Why would you call me that?”
“Because that’s the reference Hector Ramirez gave you when you uploaded your picture onto his skin site. Hector tags his girls chronologically. The first girl he sold was number one. The fifty-third girl he sold was tagged fifty-three. Using that logic, guess how many girls he sold before he tagged you one eight one?”
“So a hundred and eighty other women came before me?” She looks like she’s going to throw up.
“Exactly. And he hasn’t been caught. The police haven’t raided his place out there in the desert. No one has reported his website. No one came to rescue the one hundred and eighty other girls who came before you, and no one is coming for you, either. So if you want reminding of that every single time I call you one eight—“
“Sophia!” She screws her eyes shut, clenching her jaw. “My name is fucking Sophia, motherfucker.” She spits out the words like they’re poison. When she looks at me again, I can see the fury burning in the dark depths of her dark brown eyes. She comes alive when she’s angry. A thrill of adrenalin stabs through me, sending mixed signals to my cock; provoking such a violent reaction from her is provoking an entirely different reaction from me. For the first time, I see her. Fucking Sophia. I don’t see her as a means to an end—a potential way to take down the bastard who killed my uncle. I see her. I see her as a woman, and she is beautiful.
“Alright, Sophia. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Rebel and Sophia's story.
The first of a three part series. This novel contains a small snippet which has already been released in the Owned: An Alpha Anthology, however it is followed by a full story installment.
Sophia
Sometimes, you don't mean to become another person. Sometimes the choice is made for you, and pretending is the only thing that keeps you going. When Alexis Romera is taken and her kidnappers find her fake ID in her purse, she must become Sophia in order to keep her family safe. Revealing her real identity to the man she's sold to would be easy enough, but can she trust him? Hell bent on revenging the murder of his uncle, Rebel doesn't seem all that interested in playing things safe.
In fact, nothing about the secretive, dark and brooding MC president seems safe at all.
Rebel
What do you do when the man who raised you is murdered, and the only witness is kidnapped girl who's being sold as a sex slave? You buy her, of course. As president to the most powerful motorcycle club in America, Rebel isn't lacking in power. There are strings the man can pull, and entire criminal organisations and corporate businesses alike would fall to their knees. However, along with such power comes intense interest. The DEA have their eye fixed solely on the MC...and they're just waiting for Rebel to trip up.
Getting Sophia to testify is the only way to bring the Los Oscuros cartel down. The beautiful, dark haired, dark eyed woman is belligerent and uncooperative and unlikely to bend to his will, but Rebel has a few tricks up his sleeve to make her compliant--he'll charm her until she's bending over backwards to please him.
Of course, falling for her might cause a few hiccups along the way...

Callie has experienced many changes throughout her life, and gone through many ups and downs that have all worked towards shaping and molding her into the person she is today: fun loving, active, social, and hard working. The only thing that has remained a constant throughout her life is writing. Creating characters who will tear your conscience in two is a favorite pastime of Callie’s. There are few real saints and sinners in her books; more often, the denizens of her stories are all very human. Broken, flawed, and always with the potential for redemption.
Despite the subject matter being markedly hot and heavy in comparison to the stories she wrote in elementary school, there will always be an element of fairytale to her work.

REVIEW TOUR: CONSUME ME BY RYAN MICHELE

Consume Me by Ryan Michele

4 Stars

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book in The Ravage MC series.  It is a standalone but there are characters and situations from the previous books in the story.  Be prepared to lose some sleep when you start this book because you won't want to put it down until the end.

Blaze is hiding from a bad past.  After her mother's death she escaped and is running from her step father and brother.  Princess gives her a new identity and a job stripping at Club X.  Blaze keeps to herself and lets no one in.  Her story is her secret.  She graduates from college, buys a home and makes friends with Angel and Princess.

Tug is dealing with a secret in his past and trying to adapt to civilian life after the military.  The Ravage MC has become his family and home.  He is still a prospect in hopes of becoming a member.  He sets his sites on Blaze and is determined to make her his.  Tug is an alpha male but oh so sweet.  It takes time but he makes his way into Blaze's heart.

When her past catches up to her Tug is determined to protect her.  He turns to his Ravage's to help him take down the monsters after her.  He will not let her run.

Ms.  Michele did it again when she writes another phenomenal story about the MC.  You will not be disappointed in the fact that this story has hot sex scenes, drama at Club X and at the MC, danger and angst.  You will love every character you meet in the Ravage MC books and won't put the book down until you have turned the last page.

Blurb
When I was ten, my father indoctrinated me into the family.
A brotherhood who would fight, protect, and give their lives for one another. A club whose ties ran thicker than blood, murkier than the dirt and grime that tainted my soul. Stronger than the bonds that connected me to my own family.
A band of brothers, where loyalty was kept and paid in a currency of blood.
When I was twenty-seven, I betrayed that brotherhood.
I’ve spent every day since running, avoiding paying back that debt.
My name is Daniel Johnson.  I have betrayed everyone I ever loved.
And I’ll betray her too.
This is my story—if you’re screwed up enough to want to read it.

SHELLY'S 5 STAR REVIEW:

If you are looking for sweet love or an alpha MC that looks after his girl then you need to skip this book.  Kick is a raw, dirty, dark read and it is a great one.  It contains graphic violence, profanity, drug use, and explicit sexual situations of a taboo nature and is not for the faint of heart.  This does not read like your typical MC books.  This story is Kick's story of survival.

Kick is who he is and doesn't change for anyone.  He is a selfish person and is unapologetic for that.  He has grown up in the MC life and it has been a hard one.  He betrayed his first MC and it cost a pretty penny with the life of someone he fell for.  Enters Indie, the girl he saved from  a brutal situation.  She reminds him of the things he has lost in the past.

You will not fall in love with the MC males in this book.  They are violent and brutal and they will make you fear and hate them.  Kick gets off on violence and and makes no apology about it.  At the end of the story Indie and Kick are just as f**ked up as they are at the beginning.

"I've seen violence. I've lived and breathed it since I was a baby. I've been shrouded in hurt, pain, and other people's anguish for the longest time I dared to think I was immune."

The story does go back and forth between present and past of Kicks life.  Towards the end some of the chapters are from Indies point of view.  This is a raw, gritty, dirty look into the violent life in an MC.  It is a dark read that will f**k with your mind.  Kudos to Ms. Jenner because she really meant it when she said this was not intended for pussies.

Excerpt #1
“You gotta let go now, Princess. I gotta hand you over.”
Her panicked gaze meets mine. “He’ll shoot you.”
“No, he won’t.”
“Yes, he will.”
I smile down at her. “What are we just gonna stand here forever, you in my arms, your dad holding a gun to my head? If he shoots me, he shoots me. Ain’t nothing I can do about that, Princess. At least I’ll know I did one thing right.”
She takes a deep, shaky breath. “I’d be dead if it weren’t for you.”
I nod, because it’s true. If Slayer hadn’t come at a deal, Prez would’ve eventually killed her, and he’d have tortured her some more first. “Promise me somethin’?”
“What?”
“Get on your feet and then get the hell outta here. Prez will come looking for you again. He’s not a guy who likes to lose. Take as much money as you can, and get the fuck away from this life, otherwise you’re gonna wind up filling a body bag way too young.”
Lauren is wrenched away from me then. She screams as the Italian carts her off toward the clubhouse, flailing and slapping at him despite her injuries.
“Daniel!” she screams, reaching out toward me as he struggles to get her inside. Without thinking I take a step forward, but I’m attacked from behind. My knees go out from under me and I’m shoved face-first into the ground. Some heavy motherfucker sits down on my back. I buck, trying to unseat him, but I’m whacked in the back of the head until I stop.
“Well, isn’t that fuckin’ touching? The Angel scum, in love with my daughter? Didn’t I warn you away from her once before?” Slayer asks, circling me like a predator circles prey. The biker using me for a chair shoves his gun against the back of my skull.
“Yeah, I did,” Slayer continues, and he motions for the guy on top of me to force me to stand. I’m dragged up by the hair and presented to Slayer. “At the rally, where she fuckin’ went missin’!” His red, blotchy face almost touches mine. He’s so close I can see the blood vessels snaking out from the corners of his eyes. He’s fucking high. His daughter’s been locked up, raped, beaten, treated like a fuckin’ animal over some shit that she shouldn’t even have to know about, and the arsehole’s gettin’ high as a fuckin’ kite instead of findin’ her? He makes me sick. He’s everything I hate about the life. And he’s more than likely exactly where I’ll end up, because this is what we are—this is what livin’ in the club gets you: bitterness, enemies, and a shit-tonne of bad blood.

SHELLY'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

After growing up together Ayden and Anthony have proclaimed their love for each other.  In one instant Ayden's life is changed.  She can't cope with what has happened to her and chooses to leave Anthony and her family behind and start a new life in New York.  Six years later she returns home and Anthony vows to find out what happened to her and win her love back.  This story is raw, gritty, and full of angst.  This dark read contains rape and violence but the author does a great job of writing about it in a delicate way.

Because of the violence in Ayden's past she is a shy person and has a hard time dealing with people.  Her family, Anthony and The MC rally around her.  The best part of the book is watching Ayden come out of her shell and become a strong women.  She is haunted by the past but soon learns how to deal with it.  Anthony was heart broken when Ayden left but as soon as he sees her he knows he still loves her and sets out to show her.  He is protective of Ayden and soon helps her deal with her demons.  The secondary characters in this book are also well developed.

The story focuses on tragedy, strength and true love.  The MC does play an important part in the story but is written in the background.  Ms. Garcia does a great job of handling a delicate subject in her writing.  There is suspense throughout the whole book.  When Ayden finds out who frames her father the story really heats up.  There are twists and turns throughout the book.  When you find out who the bad guy is you will gasp.  This story will keep you guessing and feeling right until the end.  I can't wait to see what the future holds for The Last Hangman MC.

Excerpt

When the waitress leaves her after delivering Ayden her food, I walk over and just as she’s about to take a bite, she looks up and we make eye contact. I can’t help the smirk spreading across my face, at the look of excitement, laced with worry, and could it be lust on her face? I don’t know what it is, but I hold her gaze for a couple of seconds before she looks down at her plate, denying me those beautiful jade eyes.
I sit down across from her in the booth. I can see her squirm, I still have the same effect on her and she still holds the same power over me. I have to readjust myself, my jeans are getting tight.
“Ayden.” I see her shiver when I say her name. She finally looks back at me.
“Anthony.” Her tone is clipped. She’s clearly surprised and not very happy to see me.
“We need to talk Sweet Cheeks.”
“Don’t call me that. You’ve lost that privilege long ago,” she whispers, she’s getting pissed. Good, at least she’s still affected by my nickname for her.
“Now, I wasn’t the one running away. I didn’t do anything wrong. I can still call you that if I want to.” I smirk playfully. I’m still hurt, but I don’t want her to run away again.
“I deserved that. Now if you don’t mind I’m trying to enjoy my diner.” She takes a bite of her pickle. Fuck me she did that on purpose!
“I see that.” I steal a piece of bacon from her burger and take a bite.
“Hey, that’s mine!”
“Too bad, now it’s mine.” I wink at her and shove the rest in my mouth.
“Fucker! You don’t mess with a woman’s food!” She’s adorable and extremely hot when she’s pissed.
“Well looks like I did, now will you listen to what I have to say or not?”
“Or not.” She takes an angry bite of the pickle again.
“Kinky.” I smirk licking my lips.
“Piss off Ant!” she whispers loudly.
“We’re going to talk Sweet Cheeks, like it or not, we will very soon.”
“There’s nothing left to say. I know what’s been going on, my mom’s kept me updated on everything. I don’t need you to repeat it to me, I’m good. We don’t have to act like we are friends.” I know she doesn’t mean it. She’s trying to hold back her tears and her lower lip is quivering.
“As you wish Sweet Cheeks. But it will happen very soon… you can bet on it.” I look into her eyes. Showing her I’m very serious about this talk we need to have. I want to have our talk now but I don’t want to scare her away even more. The last thing I want is for her to leave town again. It would kill me. “Have a nice day.” I take a sip of her drink, wink at her, and bend down to kiss her cheek—her soft skin is like heaven. I make my way out of the restaurant knowing I managed to get her attention and that she won’t forget I exist anytime soon. I just can’t wait to be able to talk with her and lay it all out.
