When you let yourself go to love, how do you pick yourself back up after everything has shattered around you?

Life as Garner Mason knew it disintegrated in one single moment. As she rebounded into recovery mode, she inadvertently crashed into Ken Conly, who threw her into one hell of an unexpected tailspin. She needed to get it together because, even though he was sexy as hell, she wanted no part of anything inherently male.

Ken Conly's life was admittedly full with a job he loved, great family and great friends. When Garner Mason stumbled into his path, however, he found himself yearning for a life he wasn't aware even existed.

From the moment they met, there was an undeniable electricity, something so intense that Garner fought to ignore and Ken pushed to ignite. It was that uncontrollable chemistry that drew them deeper under love's intoxicating influence.

Facebook Teaser

Excerpt:

Lillian couldn’t see.

She tried to move her hands and feel her face; it felt like there was something obstructing it.

She couldn’t. Her arms were tied behind her back.

When Lillian made the connection she sat bolt upright. Her shoulders had a dull ache from where they were pulled unnaturally backwards. When she tried to lift one then the other the ache intensified.

‘Hello?’ She called out. Loud, but not so loud the neighbours would complain. ‘Hello, is anyone there?’

For a second she thought that maybe Greg had put her in this position. Once, a few years back, they’d talked about role-play and BDSM. They’d even talked about a threesome. When Lillian sobered up she’d put the kibosh on that quickly enough, but maybe her headache was from a hangover and she’d agreed to something a bit weird?

‘Greg?’

REVIEW:

Five Fabulous Stars

I give this book 5 stars for the realistic feel of the book. The characters are a single divorced mom of a teenager and a male escort that is more than just a pretty face. They have everyday problems like the rest of the world. He isnt some super rich playboy and she isnt some needy woman.

Leah- She is a confident woman when it comes to her interior design but not so much in her personal life. She says she is too busy to date with her work and her teenage daughter. She and her best friend have their 20th high school reunion coming up and she doesnt want to go and have to face her pathetic ex husband and the homewrecker wife of his especially without a date. Kira suggest that Leah just hire an escort so she doesnt have to go alone and there arent any strings attached like trying to find a date to go. So she agrees... little did she know that picking Jagger to go would cause her whole world to be turned upside down and inside out. Jagger gets her to come out of her shell and experience things that she didnt even know were possible before.

Jagger- He is a male escort to pay the bills but he has a passion for photography. He doesnt think that his work would be enough to pay the bills so he continues to be an escort even though it leaves him unfulfilled. He doesnt want to do anymore out of town trips for these desperate women but he is getting paid heavily by one of their long time customers so he agrees. Once he meets Leah and sees who she truly is he cant help but want to get to know her and help her see how wonderful she is.

Together they experience new things and an undeniable passion but can it withstand the pressure of his line of work and her insecurities about men. They both have a lot to learn from each other and after all it takes two right?

button excerpt

The doors closed behind us. Jagger backed me up against the wall, and there was nowhere I could look but his eyes. One knee was between my legs, and his hands burned the skin on my stomach underneath my sweater. “You look amazing,” he whispered.
I hadn’t planned anything special for tonight. New underwear, that was all. Maybe I should’ve paid more attention to Kari when she told me about the schedule. I’d worn a sweater, scarf, jeans, and knee-high boots. “So do you,” I murmured back. Jagger was one step ahead of me in black dress pants and a deep blue button down shirt. It perfectly complemented his olive skin and dark hair. The more I thought of Jagger in terms of art, the more beautiful he became.
Jagger cupped my bra as his lips once again found mine. We could barely complete a sentence since he’d come to my room without our mouths crashing against each other. Going to this party was a terrible idea. After a drink or two I’d be begging him to take me on the bar. His fingers drew slow circles, dipping inside my bra, brushing back and forth against my nipples. They pebbled at his touch. I tangled my hands in his long hair, pulling him closer to me as I moaned against his mouth.
I hadn’t even noticed we weren’t moving until the alarm went off. We jumped away from each other. “What did you do?” I asked. “Didn’t you just hit the lobby button?”
“I hit stop.” Jagger had his hands up like he was about to get arrested.
“You can’t do that here.” I slammed my hand repeatedly against the lobby button to make the alarm stop screaming. The elevator started moving. “The fire department is probably already on their way. This is a small town. They’ll be talking about this until the next reunion.”
My stomach tied itself in knots complicated enough to flummox a boy scout as we walked through the lobby. The older woman at the front desk glared at us. “See?” I bumped against Jagger, who smiled and winked at the clerk. She turned bright red as she looked back to the computer. “We were seconds away from thanking the firemen for their commitment to service.”
Every head in the bar turned as we walked in. I made a beeline for the bartender, pulling Jagger along with me. He ordered our drinks. “You didn’t ask me what I wanted.”
“Don’t you want sangria?” He surprised me even more by pulling out his wallet. “You practically purred when you drank it in Washington. I’m not sure what you liked more, me or the sangria. But I know I liked the way it tasted on your lips.”
“How did you even know they had it? Some places throw bar garnish and Sprite into cheap wine and try to pass it off as the nectar of the Gods.” I leaned back against the bar, hooking my boot into the barstool, trying to play this cool. If Jagger had any idea he could knock me over with a feather right now he might stop trying so hard. I wanted to see what else he had in him. “They can’t fool me with that crap.”
“I checked before you got here.” Jagger tapped his glass against mine before taking a long sip of whatever he got.
I knew all along they had it. I’d been here more times than I could count. “And if they didn’t?”
“We’d find someplace that did.” Those hazel eyes smoldered. So many emotions I couldn’t read yet marched through them.
I put the glass down on the bar and turned back to him. It took everything I had to keep my hands to myself. “And if that wasn’t what I was craving?”
Jagger leaned closer to me and I could feel every eye on the room on us. “I will make sure you’re satisfied.”
We took stools at the bar. It was still pretty early. A cover band I’d been going to see since my twenties was setting up in the corner, and only a handful of my classmates had shown up so far. I wondered if we’d see many locals. Getting a babysitter two nights in a row was such a bitch.
“So that’s Eric. He went out to LA to act and he’s had a bunch of bit parts in movies, and it looks like he’s here with…” I squinted to see better, then squealed when he took the hand of someone I didn’t expect. “Michael. Nice. I think he’s still in the Marines. I knew he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, but I didn’t realize they were a couple. It makes total sense, now that I think about it, they’re always together in their Facebook stuff.”
After finding the bottom of my drink, I had no problem openly pointing out the weekend’s players to Jagger. A fresh drink appeared like magic, and I dove right into it. “And that’s Marcy. She was my manager at Design Spot. We used to put wine in our coffee cups to deal with the monotony of that place. Oh, God. You must think I’m a total lush, right?”
“No.” Jagger laughed. “Which one is Karina?”
I had to think about before answering him. “Who’s Karina?”
“Your best friend?” Jagger slid the glass away from me. “The guys at the agency have nothing but good things to say about her.”
“Oh! Kari.” I took it back. “I never think of her like that. Unless I’m giving her a hard time. Her reputation would precede her.” Good for her. “I don’t know. She should be here. She’s technically our host.”
She’d been coy in the last couple weeks, much more concerned with my plans for the reunion than sharing hers. Probably because being here was just as much of a nightmare for her as it was for me, even if our reasons were completely different. She’d definitely bring a date to the battle ground.
The band started, tearing through their nineties set with slightly less fire than they had in the actual nineties, and Jagger started drumming the beat against the bar. “Let’s dance,” he suggested.
“Sounds fantastic.” After the second sangria it easier to join the few other couples on the floor, and I waved to the people I’d pointed out from the bar. So far, we weren’t behind enemy lines. None of those people had shown up yet. I twirled around Jagger, singing the lyrics of the song to him as he put his arms around my waist and pressed my back against his body. We swayed together to the beat, his hair falling into my face as he joined me on the harmonies. I turned into him when the song changed, our hips grinding to the raunchy beat of the song. If this was any indication of what I had to look forward to when we went back upstairs, I had no idea why we were still here.
Jagger’s hands stayed on my hips, directing them, and I hooked my arms around his neck. His forehead rested on mine and I could only look at him. The rest of the room spun on a different axis. I hadn’t had too much to drink, I was drunk off of Jagger.
“Can I have this dance?” Kari managed to wedge herself between the two of us and I grabbed her arms to steady myself from the shock. She swung around, offering a hand to Jagger. “I’m Karina Gomez. Leah’s best friend. And I’m a United States prosecutor, so when I say I know where to hide the bodies…”
“Kari!” I jerked her away from Jagger before she said anything I regretted.
“I’ve heard all about you. Nothing but wonderful things of course.” Jagger ran his fingers under my chin. Kari didn’t release her death grip on my arms. “I’ll meet you over at the bar.”
My new dance partner spun me around. “First of all, he’s insanely gorgeous. I don’t get intimidated by many men, but it’s hard to breathe looking at him.”
“Where have you been?” I asked. I wanted to change the subject before it turned into a lecture.
“Here, for like a half an hour.” Kari rolled her eyes. “You were too busy eye-fucking your escort to notice anyone.”
My head whipped around the room. “Oh God, who else is here?”
“Pretty much everyone, and you are the topic of conversation.”
“Why?” Another quick scan of the room, but I didn’t spot Rich or Shelley.
“Because the two of you look like you’re going to crawl inside of each other. We’re all choking off the pheromones. Would you please go upstairs and fuck his brains out before some of the single ladies in the crowd abduct him?”
Nobody had to tell me twice. “Yes, ma’am.” I headed off the dance floor, but Kari still had my hand.
“Don’t ever call me ma’am.” Kari yanked me back into her. “Leah, please be careful tonight.”
“I will, ma’am.” I laughed when Kari looked like she might puke. “I brought protection.”
She squeezed my hand. “That’s not what I’m talking about, and you know it.”

COMPANION NOVEL to the TANGLED WEB series

Kory McCallister has had her eyes on tattoo artist Stone Bowman for quite some time—so long, in fact, that no other guy will do. Stone pushes every turn on button Kory has—he’s tattooed from head to toe; he’s hot; he’s funny and charming; and he’s also mysterious. So when Kory’s friends dare her to ask Stone out on a date, she can’t believe she actually finds the guts to do it.

More surprising? He takes her up on the offer.

She discovers that, while his past might not be quite as dark or mysterious as she’d imagined, it’s bigger than she’d expected, and it’s something she will need to contend with if she decides she wants to keep him around to color her life for good.

PBBT-heavy secrets

Excerpt from Punctured, Bruised, and Barely Tattooed

Excerpt

“Know what? Never mind. I thought you were better than that.” She turned on her heel and started walking down the street away from him.

Three…four…five. “Kory.” Yes. It had worked…well, at least she hoped so. She’d have to wait to hear what he had to say. Carefully, she turned around. She was several steps away from him. She made sure her face didn’t show sadness, fear, or anger. She hoped she had a look of annoyance, like he was an irritant at this point.

She let out a breath as though she didn’t have time to wait. Finally, she said, “Yeah?”

He walked toward her and she became aware of the sound his boots made on the sidewalk. Sure, she heard a couple of cars driving down the street, and she could hear noise from the bar she was almost standing in front of. She was becoming more and more aware of the heat bearing down on her shoulders like a weight, and it got worse the closer he got, because her breathing grew shallow.

He stood in front of her. Oh, fucking hell. His eyes were dark and her mouth started watering as his hands cupped her cheeks and he guided her chin upward until his lips touched hers.

Gone…the heat, the noise, even her goddamn heartbeat…until it started throbbing in her chest and her blood began swarming through her body, warming her back up from lifelessness. Stone’s tongue touched her lips and parted them before entering her mouth and, holy God, for the first time in a long time throughout her miserable existence, she felt alive. Overflowing with too much emotion, too much adrenaline and…

her fucking panties were wet

…hopes and dreams, unspoken and unknown, flowed through her like water.

Until the kiss was over. She opened her eyes, the breath gone from her lungs, and she searched his eyes. He’d done it. Why had he done it after fucking with her, blowing her off? Did he like messing with her mind?

But his eyes—they told her more than his words ever could. Jesus. What she felt then was heavy. Had he been screwing around with her head, when really he was just trying to deny something?

As she sucked in a breath, forcing it to the bottom of her lungs, she realized her hands had formed fists around the back of his t-shirt, as though she were clinging to him for dear life. No smile, no smirk. He said, “That what you wanted?”

PBBT teaser strong and survived

Excerpt #2

Stone grabbed her hand and they began walking toward the river where they would find the trail.

Kory had never been on the river walk before, so this was going to be a treat for her. She was aware of the cool air, of the sound of chirping crickets in the background and the roar of the river in the foreground, of seeing dark leaves rustling in the tall trees near the river. But she was most aware of Stone’s hand holding hers. His hand felt like something sure—it was strong and as confident feeling as he was. It was the hand of an artist, the one that had permanently drawn on her arm less than a week earlier, the same one that had held her face while he’d kissed her. This was a hand she thought she’d want to hold forever, because of the man attached to it.

When they got closer to the river, Kory noticed a gravelly path beside it, up and away from it but close. She imagined that if the river ever flooded, parts of the path would wash away, but most of it was far enough away that it seemed safe. Of course, a huge flood—one that had the potential to damage houses—would wreck it all. She didn’t remember the river ever flooding Winchester, and she’d lived there her whole life. Surely, it had flooded at some time. All rivers did.

The rushing noise created by the water sounded somewhat violent to her, but it felt peaceful at the same time. Maybe it was because the water here would always flow, whether someone was here or not. It would continue bringing water from wherever it came from high up in the mountains and keep going down until it joined with another river and then another, so this very water right here would eventually wind up in the Mississippi and then the Gulf of Mexico. The enormity of it humbled her, and she suddenly understood the draw of nature.

Stone must have sensed her feelings because he said, “Really cool, isn’t it?”

“Yeah.”

They continued walking along the path, taking their time, breathing in the air cooled even further by the rushing water, absorbing the secrets of the night. Suddenly, Kory thought Stone was a genius. This truly was the perfect date, and for the first time in a long time, she felt her soul grow quiet and full of awe.

He paused and Kory stopped beside him. They’d walked far enough that houses and highways were behind them. It was truly dark and solitary. “Look at the stars. They’re bright tonight.”

She looked up. She felt so silly, because she’d been so engrossed in the earth that she hadn’t even stopped to consider the sky above her. God, it was incredible and just contributed to her sense of overwhelming humility and wonder at what surrounded her. She breathed, “Amazing.”

“Yeah,” he agreed and touched her face. It was the perfect time for a kiss, really, because she wanted to share this feeling with someone else and needed to be distracted from the beauty of the moment, because she wasn’t sure how to handle it. She was brimming with emotion and needed to expend it.

She didn’t know if Stone was feeling the same way or if he could simply sense what had been brewing inside her, but their kiss was passionate. Hot. Unbelievably so. And Kory realized she’d never wanted anyone as badly as she did Stone in that moment. Her fingers were in his hair and he pressed her into him, his hands firm on her lower back. One kiss led to another and another and another, and suddenly the night didn’t feel so cool anymore…

Excerpt #3

Stone said, “Can I come in for a minute?”

She frowned at herself in the mirror. She still had residual makeup on—she wore her eyeliner so heavy that it would take lots of scrubbing to get it all off her eyes—but her face looked strange and naked. Still, she had nothing to hide.

Stone had amazed her. When she’d gotten up, he’d already had a workout (but she didn’t know if he had workout equipment or had just jogged around his property), shower, and said he’d worked on some drawings. She wondered if he did that every morning or if she’d simply made it impossible for him to sleep.

She supposed she should maybe feel weird around him now, but she didn’t. She only wondered what his huge fucking secret was…and then felt a little stupid, because she wasn’t ready to give up her own secrets anytime soon. “Yeah, sure.”

He took his time as if to give her a moment to collect herself, and the door pushed open slowly. She continued pulling the comb through her hair, though, and she didn’t have to force a smile when he came in.

What was that look on his face? She couldn’t read it. Surprise, maybe? He grinned. “You sure everything’s okay? You’ve been awfully quiet since breakfast.”

She couldn’t help the smirk. “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize you wanted me shouting to you from the shower.”

He laughed. “No, that’s not what I mean.”

She finished running the comb through her hair and pulled the few strands in its teeth out so she could throw them in the trashcan next to the toilet. “What do you mean?”

Stone Bowman at a loss for words. Yeah, he was. He shrugged and got closer to her. Shit. She knew it. She must look like a fucking teenager without the makeup. Yeah, that had to be why he was staring at her.

Or…not. He cupped her neck and rubbed his thumb on her cheek. “Did you know you are gorgeous? Why do you cake your makeup on like you do?”

“Cake it?”

“Yeah. You’re hiding the best parts of yourself.”

“Ha. Bullshit.”

“Not bullshit.” He leaned over and brushed her lips with his. She felt a buzz pulse through her body.

She took a deep breath. “You are distracting the shit out of me.”

That smirk. God, that would be infuriating if it wasn’t so goddamned sexy. “I am?”

Kory swallowed, unable to mask her emotions from him. She simply nodded her head. His eyes searched hers, almost unbelieving, and then he grinned and said, “Your first class is at nine?”

A small breath escaped her lips as she considered him. “Yeah.”

“That’s a little less than two hours from now. I can still get you there on time…with a latte in hand.” She laughed then. He was obsessed with getting her that damned coffee. But then he touched her neck with his lips and the laughter ceased as her nipples pebbled under the damp towel in anticipation. He looked at her then, placing a warm finger in the dip just under her neck and tracing it straight down till it hit the edge of the white towel, and he followed his finger with his eyes. “I still want to lick you till you come.” He raised his gaze slowly, drinking in every detail of her skin, up her chin, until he burned holes in her eyes with the intensity. “Do you feel like you could let me try?”

I am a huge lover of all things Monica Murphy so I was very excited when I was asked to review Breaking All The Rules by her alter ego Karen Erickson. I am sad to say that I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did her other books.

Stephanie is a writer for a magazine in New York and she is hoping to score her own column. She has been given an assignment to write about female sexual fantasies and she decides to start when she runs into a good looking guy at a party. She has no idea who he is and is quite surprised to find out that he is Justin Hawkins a famous baseball player who hates the media. As things heat up between them Stephanie is afraid to tell him what she does for a living as she is afraid he will leave her once he finds out. Will she be able to convinve him that not all media people are bad?

Justin Hawkins has never been one to want a long term relationship. When he runs into Stephanie leaving a party he is completely surprised by how she makes him feel. One night of passion turns into multiple and he doesn't ever want to let her go. He gets a job offer that will take him away for weeks at a time and is afraid of how Stephanie will react to the news. Will the secrets these two are keeping from each other cause them to end their relationship or will they be able to work though them?

The relationship between Stephanie and Justin seemed forced and not natural. A relationship should be built on communication and trust and this one was built on hot sex. I felt like the storyline was very predictable and didn't have much depth to it. I also feel like the book ended much too quickly and would have liked to see more development in their relationship.

Excerpt
Xavier is standing between me and the front door, so I move past him. If I turn around and look at him right now, I know I won't be able to force myself to leave.

But he takes care of it for me. He takes my arm and pulls me to face him. We lock eyes and he quickly walks me backwards until I hit the wall. His body slams into me as he goes for my mouth.

The kiss is hot, his tongue playing aggressively with mine. His hands grip my sides, and I link mine around his neck, burying them in his thick, dark hair. I pull him closer to me. I need him to kiss me like I need oxygen. Deeper, harder.

My body throbs. When he starts kissing and nibbling a trail along my neck, it's almost too much.

Then he undoes the top two buttons on my shirt.

In a second, my bra is pushed down and he pulls one nipple into his mouth, licking and sucking on it, his teeth grazing it and sending electric shocks straight to my clit. I let out a moan, and feel him grow hard against me. I gently graze the back of his neck with my nails as he sucks softly.

"You like that? I've been thinking about these gorgeous breasts all day. While you were setting the table, I imagined coming up behind you and grabbing them. Would you have liked that?"

"Yes," I whisper.

"Do you know what else I imagined?”

He doesn’t wait for me to answer, but takes my moans of pleasure as invitation enough. He pushes himself closer to me, his tongue hot and wet on my nipples, and every bit of contact pushes me farther over the edge.

I'm panting for breath, so overcome with aching need for more of him. I've completely forgotten why this is a bad idea. I don't care. I just know that I have to have him.

He takes his hand and gently runs his palm over my ass as his tongue and teeth nip my neck. My nipple is still peeking through the top of my shirt, and he takes his other hand and pinches it, reminding me that I am exposed.

He makes quick work of the buttons on my shirt, opens it up, and unhooks my bra. He leans over me and resumes kissing, sucking, and lightly biting my tits. The cool air and his mouth on them has my nipples so hard and swollen that they're almost painful. But when he tweaks them and then pinches them softly, I make noises I didn't know I could make. I start to mewl and purr like a kitten as he ravages my chest with his mouth.

I love the feel of his tongue on me, the skin of his back as I hold him to me. I need more, and I can't stand it.

"Please." The ache in my voice matches the ache in my body.

"Please what?” His eyes are dark with lust.

I swallow hard, my throat gone dry. “I want…” But I can’t say it.

“You want me to fuck you?" he growls.

"God, yes."
