MICHELLE'S 5 STAR REVIEW:

The Contest - 5 stars

It amazes me that this was the Authors Debut Novel back in Oct. 2014.  I just got to read this and the follow up Novel for review for Stories and Swag and I absolutely loved it!  It had angst, it had very likable characters (Jake is a musician and so Sexy!), it had heartbreak and it had a great love story unfolding right till then end.  All these components make for a great Romance that will leave you breathless.

Madi is a college student who analyzes everything, so when her friend Kindra suggested she enter a contest to win a date with their favorite singer, Madi thought it was just something that his PR set up and that no one like either of them would ever win.  But, Kindra enters her anyways...and Madi ends up winning!  She is excited to say the least, but she doen't go all fangirl on him when she flys out to L.A. to meet him. 

 

Jake isn't used to someone like Madi and he feels and instant attraction to her, but he is not interested in any relationship, not after everything that has happened in his past.  His main focus is he career.  He finds that he likes Madi, she isn't like all the other girls that fangirl over him. He expected a fan that would go totally nuts over meeting the famous Jake Morgan.  He finds that he likes spending time with her and it surprises him when he finds he doesn't want their weekend to end.  She tells it like it is and doesn't put up with his crap.  He likes how feisty she is.

So, Jake offers her a summer job. He wants her to come on tour with him and be his Assistant to his assistant.  Ang (His assistant) has a lot on her and he figures she could really need some help.  Besides, he doesn't want Madi to leave just yet.  After a lot of convincing and flying out to Chicago to help convince her parents that he would take care of everything for her, Madi accepts.  She has to admit to herself as well that Jake has gotten under her skin and she wants to spend more time with him too.

They banter back and forth and flirt a lot.  I was really amused at times as they tried to hide their attraction for one another behind smart ass comments.

-“I was not hot and bothered. I didn’t expect you to be home. Not my fault you couldn’t speak.”
“Oh, I could speak. I just didn’t want to.”
Madi’s hands journeyed back to her hips. “Oh really, Jake, and why not?”
“Truth be told… Because you were too beautiful for words.” She froze. “When you can think of a smart-ass response to my honesty, let me know.”

 But Jake is troubled by his past, he doesn't think he would be any good for Madi and he keeps pushing her away.  No matter how hard he pushes, she refuses to leave.  She knows there is something that he isn't telling her, something from his past that is preventing him from giving his heart to her. 

This story will leave you breathless, at least it did me.  Jake, even though he is troubled and thinks he is broken, he is the type of man that you just fall in love with.  I really loved the back and forth with them, it was funny, romantic and hot most times.  Kindra is a great character, I really liked her 'don't take no shit off of anyone' attitude.  She really cracked me up sometimes with the things that came out of her mouth.  For instances, she made Madi  promise to squeeze Jake's ass for her when she met him! LOL!

-“Yes, I asked her to report back on how you smell, which by the way I heard was orgasmic, and then I asked her to let me know if your ass felt as tight as it looks in pictures.”
Madi could see her life pass before her eyes as the words flew into the air from Kendra’s voice on the phone. They seemed to have a life of their own as they swirled around and seeped into her brain. She could feel her heart stop beating and death approaching fast. Jake gave her the sexiest smile she had ever seen as he stood up and turned around, pushing his backside toward her.

“Okay, well she hasn’t touched it yet, Kendra, but I’ve now turned my back to her and lifted up my shirt for her to grab away. She looks as white as a ghost right now so she may need a little encouragement from you to do the deed.”
Dying... just dying…
“Mads, if you can hear me, snap out of your coma and put both hands on the baby and squeeze it for me. It’s the last thing I’m asking and you can thank me later.”
Jake laughed hysterically and pushed his ass out even further. “Go ahead, Madi. Don’t let your friend down,” Jake encouraged.
“Do it, Mads, do it!” Kendra shouted.

I really think you should give this book a try, I bet you'll like it as much as I did!  And Jake...he is just...swoon worthy!

-She was asleep and he knew she hadn’t heard him. It was the only reason he was able to say it out loud. He whispered, “You make me crazy and happy and angry and aroused all in the same second. Can’t you see I just don’t want to hurt you? You’re everything, Madi, and you don’t even know it.”

Waiting to Loose 5stars

Loved this Conclusion to Jake and Madi's story!  If you thought you fell in love with Jake in 'The Contest' you will fall even more in love with him in this story. 

Once Jake decided to give his heart to Madi, he did it completely!  But, being with a famous singer comes with its fair share of troubles, probably more than its fair share.

While Jake is on tour, someone has it out to ruin his life.  And his life, is Madi.   Someone has been sending Madi messages warning her of Jake, saying he will hurt her.  She believes that Jake loves her, but its so hard to see him all over the internet with gorgeous girls all the time.  He assures her that he only has eyes for her and to not  believe everything she sees about him.

-“You think?” she laughed. “You’re kidding, right? Everyone likes you. Everyone loves you.”
“I’m not concerned if everyone loves me. I’m only interested in the love of one girl.”

“You are my first and last thought at the beginning and end of every day. I want you with me so I can protect you from all the bullshit. I want to ease your fears. If you could see my face right now, you’d see a man who’s deeply in love, probably for the first time in his life.”

-“I’d do anything to keep you happy and safe. I know I don’t deserve you. I know this life I lead is a fucked up mess, but if you’ll stick it out, I promise you that I will try to make every chance you take on me worth it with the love and pure devotion I return to you.”
She smiled and closed her eyes. “You did it again.”
“What?” he asked, kissing her cheek and sniffing her neck.
“Said the perfect thing.”

-“You’re stuck with me. I fall in love with you every time you breathe,” she said.

This story wouldn't be complete with out some mystery, danger and a whole lot of angst.   When Madi gets an email of a picture of Jake in a comprising position with Allison, it completely destroys her.  Jake assures her that it isn't true and makes his mission to prove to her that its not true.  He has to figure out who on his team has betrayed him.

He must find out who and why someone is trying to ruin his happiness.  He must find out who on his team has betrayed him in such a way,  He must find out where Peter is, he doesn't want him to find Madi and try to attack her again, and he must find Allison to find out what her part is in all of the mess. ...  And the clock is ticking. 

This was a great 2nd book!  I might have even liked it more than the first! ;)  Sometimes follow up books can't keep true to the story or keep you interested, that is definitely not the case with Waiting to Loose!  Its a perfect follow up and it has the perfect ending!  You will definitely be swooning all over again for Jake, trust me!

-“And finally… this is a tube of glue.”
Madi giggled through her tears as he gazed into her eyes. He took a deep breath as he stared at her face.
His voice cracked as he spoke. “Because you fixed me. Every part that was broken has been healed by your love for me. You made me whole again.”
