Very Mature YA Contemporary Romance
Scheduled to release: March 17, 2015

BLURB:
Kensington Worth had a vision for her senior year. It involved her best friends, her posh private school in downtown Chicago and time alone with her piano until her audition was perfected, a guaranteed ticket into the best music programs in the world.

Instead, a nightmare took over.

It didn’t happen all at once, but her life unraveled quickly—a tiny thread that evil somehow kept pulling until everything precious was taken from her. She was suddenly living miles away from her old life, trapped in an existence she didn’t choose—one determined to destroy her from the inside, leaving only hate and anger behind. It didn’t help that her neighbor, the one whose eyes held danger, was enjoying every second of her fall.

Owen Harper was trouble, his heart wild and his past the kind that’s spoken about in whispers. And somehow, his path was always intertwined with Kensington’s, every interaction crushing her, ruining her hope for any future better than her now. Sometimes, though, what everyone warns is trouble, is exactly what the heart needs. Owen Harper was consumed with darkness, and it held onto his soul for years. When Kensington looked at him, she saw a boy who’d gotten good at taking others down when they threatened his carefully balanced life. But the more she looked, the more she saw other things too—good things…things to admire.

Things…to love. Things that made her want to be reckless.

And those things…they were the scariest of all.

SHELLY'S 5 STAR REVIEW:

This is the first book I have read by Ginger Scott and she does a fantastic job of weaving a story of a first love.  However this tale will cover so much more than the love between Kensi and Owen and will take you on an emotional ride.

Let's meet Kensi who's family has just moved from Chicago to the small town of Woodstock.  She has to deal with leaving her music coach and her friends behind.  She plays the piano and her only goal is to get into the finest music school.  But it that goal her or her fathers?  Not only does she have to adjust to a new school but also is hit with a huge secret that her father has.  When she meets Owen she is intrigued but knows that he is bad news, or is he really.

"Just then, I realize, he's not really wild at all. He's heartbroken. And maybe I don't hate him as much as I thought I did."

Owen lives his life on the wild side, daring and reckless.  The people of Woodstock have an negative impression of the Harper family.  When Owen meets Kensi he does his best to intimidate her.  He constantly shows his bad side but is that is really what Owen is all about.  As the story progresses you see a young man who is trying to take on to much to support his mom, brothers, and grandfather.

"I love you, and I'm not afraid to love you."
"I shouldn't let you. But I don't care Kensi. Because I think I need you to survive. I think I need you to love me, because that's literally all I've got."

The characters in this story will pull you in and create so many emotions.  You have Kensi who is the light and Owen who is the darkness.  As go from yelling at each other to being friends so loving each other you will enjoy the ride right along with them.  Ms. Scott even does a great job of developing and investing you in the secondary characters also.  Kenya's friend Willow will have you laughing until you cry

What I loved most about this book was it was not your typical bad boy, good girl first love story.  This story dealt with mental illness, suicide, divorce, and addiction.  Ms. Scott wrote it in a way that was respectful and mind boggling.  The story follows Owen and Kensi as they face being broken by these events in their life.  There are no words that I can write to describe how gut wrenching it is to watch two people as they are broken and have to come back from each tragedy.  This story gives you the message to be strong and dreams can come true.

"I kept trying to make the hard choice, thinking I had to.  But all I wanted to choose was you."
