Blurb:

Twenty year old Lane Montgomery never imagined her usually boring summer in the boonies would require her to trade her toe shoes for hunting boots or her monotonous college textbooks for treasure map deciphering. Never would she have imagined after breaking her grandmother’s precious Native American statue, danger, a lost treasure of Cherokee Gold and a hostage situation would arise. Nor could she predict that the one man destined to protect her and her family was her childhood nemesis and former crush, Maddox Diaz.

Returning after three years in the Army, twenty-three year old Maddox Diaz is confronted with more than he bargained for when agreeing to help his childhood buddy and deepest regret, Lane. Suddenly he is thrust into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with armed and ruthless treasure seekers that results in car chases and gun battles all in the presence of the one girl who still manages to haunt his dreams and drive him wild with desire.

Lane is determined to deny the sizzling chemistry with the man who stole her virginity and broke her heart. She just wants to stay alive with her heart intact. Will she be able to resist the man whose body sets fire to all her senses?

Elle says:

Lane Montgomery has always been labeled a “good girl” who stays away from the temptation of parties, alcohol, and anything that didn’t fit in to her straightedge life. She found her thrill in ballet and has been dedicated to her craft since she was a child.

Three years ago, Lane pushed her princess persona aside to spend an evening with her childhood crush, Maddox Diaz. What she thought would be a night that changed her life forever quickly turned in to the most embarrassing and worst night of her life.

Maddox Diaz taunted and teased Lane her entire childhood. After their anything but perfect evening, he leaves for Army Basic Training to start his career as a military man. Only what should have been a lifelong commitment is cut short, sending Maddox back home to the North Georgia Mountains.

Fast forward to present day where Lane has the unfortunate luck of working alongside Maddox at Maudie’s Mountain Orchard and Brewery. Awkward doesn’t even begin to describe that unexpected reunion. Combine the never ending tension between Lane and Maddox, an old Cherokee treasure map, a villain who will stop at nothing to get his hands on gold, and you’ve got the latest best-seller by Katie Ashley.
I’m a fan of Katie Ashley’s previous novels, so I was beyond excited to get my hands on Search Me. Before I even finished the prologue, I was hooked.

“If you had told me forty-eight hours ago, that, I, Lane Montgomery---college student, part-time ballerina, sheltered and spoiled only child---would be running for my life from deranged treasure seekers with the very guy who broke my heart and stole my virginity, I would have laughed in your face.”

I could not read this book fast enough. I want to commend the author for stepping away from the type of romance novels she normally writes and publishing a story that blends the infamous “Katie Ashley romantic flair” with suspense and action. As much as this was a story about the relationship between Maddox and Lane, it was also a story about adventure. It was exhilarating and full of plot twists I could have never predicted.

I think I loved this book so much because it was such a departure from her other novels. She absolutely nailed it! Proving there is nothing this woman cannot do. I would love to see more novels like this from her in the future or maybe even something that incorporates a little mystery within the plot.

If you’re a Katie Ashley fan, I imagine you’ve already one-clicked this novel. However, if you’re a reader who isn’t familiar with Katie’s work, I highly recommend giving this novel a chance. You won’t be disappointed!
