My name is Calla Price and I’m drowning.

My new world is a dark, dark ocean and I’m being pulled under by secrets.

Can I trust anyone? I don’t know anymore.

The lies are spirals. They twist and turn, binding me with their thorns and serpentine tongues. And just when I think I have it figured out, everything is pulled out from under me.

I’m entangled in the darkness.

But the truth will set me free.

It’s just ahead of me, so close I can touch it. But even though it shines and glimmers, it has glistening fangs and I know it will shred me.

Are you scared?

I am.

For those (me)  that thought Nocte was intense, confusing, and a complete mind f**k - you haven't seen anything yet. Verum is all that plus more. It's darker, more intense, and it sucks you in, so much so that you'll be thinking about it for days.

Verum picks right up where Nocte left off. Calla is struggling with the death of her brother and mother; she can't quite grasp onto the coat of reality. It's just brushing by her but she can't hold on. In Verum we are all looking for the answers but will we get them?

Dare is and always will be there for her. He's supportive, caring, and so sexy but there's only so much he can tell her. The rest she has to remember on her own but her brain has blocked out everything from that time. Maybe it's protecting her from herself? Maybe it's protecting her from seeing the monster Dare really is. We just don't know; hopefully Verum reveals the answers.

We do get a few answers but they are more questions than answers. They lead into the next book, Lux. There we may find the answers to all of the haunting questions that will set Calla free and she can gain her footing back in reality.

This is a very intriguing series for me. I love the suspense, the thrill, the gamut of emotions this series entails. There may be a touch of paranormal to it but I just can't pinpoint it for sure. Ms. Cole sure knows how to reel you in and make you want to stay wrapped up in her words.
