CAM GIRL

ABOUT CAM GIRL:
Vada Bergen is broke, the black sheep of her family, and moving a thousand miles away from home for grad school, but she’s got the two things she loves most: her art and her best friend—and sometimes more—Ellis Carraway. Ellis and Vada have a friendship so consuming it’s hard to tell where one girl ends and the other begins. It’s intense. It’s a little codependent. And nothing can tear them apart. Until an accident on an icy winter road changes everything.
Vada is left deeply scarred, both emotionally and physically. Her once-promising art career is cut short. And Ellis pulls away, unwilling to talk about that night. Everything Vada loved is gone. She’s got nothing left to lose.
Vada is left deeply scarred, both emotionally and physically. Her once-promising art career is cut short. And Ellis pulls away, unwilling to talk about that night. Everything Vada loved is gone. She’s got nothing left to lose.
So when she meets some smooth-talking entrepreneurs who offer to set her up as a cam girl, she can’t say no. All Vada has to do is spend a couple hours each night stripping on webcam, and the “tips” come pouring in.
It’s just a kinky escape from reality until a client gets serious. “Blue” is mysterious, alluring, and more interested in Vada’s life than her body. Online, they chat intimately. Blue helps her heal. And he pays well, but he wants her all to himself. No more cam shows. It’s an easy decision: she’s starting to fall for him. But the steamier it gets, the more she craves the real man behind the keyboard. So Vada pops the question: Can we meet IRL?
Blue agrees, on one condition. A condition that will bring back a ghost from her past.
Now Vada must confront what she’s been running from. A past full of devastating secrets—those of others and those she’s been keeping from herself…
SARAH'S REVIEW:
**4 Stars**
Cam Girl by Leah Raeder is a story about self discovery and learning to accept people for who they are. Leah weaves together the most beautiful and poetic story with raw characters that face real life issues. This book will have you questioning what is right and wrong in our society and may also change some lives.
Vada Bergen moved away from her family but took with her the two things in life she loves the most- her art and her best friend Ellis Carraway. One night on their way home from a party her life changes forever when her and Ellis are in a car accident that causes servere damage to her drawing hand. She can't deal with everything that is going on so she pushes everyone away, including Ellis. She is in need of a way to make some money so when she meets Frankie she jumps at the opportunity to be a Cam Girl. This goes fairly well for her until she becomes attached to one of her clients and wants to meet them in real life. As the story unfolds Vada starts to question who she is and where she belongs in life. Will Ellis be able to show Vada that as long as she is happy about who she that is doesn't matter what other people think?
"This is what they don’t tell you about losing someone: It doesn’t happen once. It happens every day, every moment they’re missing from. You lose them a hundred times between waking and sleep, and even sleep is no respite, because you lose them in your dreams, too."
Ellis Carraway has a deep love for Vada and is devastated when Vada pushes her away after the accident. She tries to move on with her life but can't let go of her love for Vada. She is determined to figure out a way to show Vada that love is love and it doesn't matter what society thinks. Will these two ever be able to find peace and happines in their lives?
I really loved the message that this book is trying to get across. As long as we are happy with our lives it doesn't really matter what other people think. I felt some of the sex scenes were alittle too much at times. I love Leah's writing style and that she isn't afraid to write outside the box. I can't wait to see what she is working on next.
