I fell in love with Velaney and Eric all over again. It was amazing to see how much Velaney has grown and changed since the first book. Her journey has been anything but simple and easy going. Yet she’s this incredibly strong female who doesn’t let life’s obstacles break her. Her character is a definite girl crush of mine!
Eric is as swoon worthy as ever. His devotion to Velaney and his fire in the bedroom are just two of the reasons he’s one irresistible book boyfriend. The reader is given more of Eric’s background in this story. It was interesting to see pieces of his past and how they’ve shaped his character. His hurdles rivaled Velaney’s, but she definitely has a more damaged past.
Drama. Drama. Drama. Brooke gives the reader plenty of plot twists and unexpected turns during the second installment in this series. I never knew what was coming next. Burn delivers a range of emotions – from surprise to heartache -- This story is anything but boring and predictable.
I was completely satisfied with how this story ended. Carissa’s story, Flame, is the next installment in the series. I cannot wait to get my hands on this one! Carissa has been a favorite character of mine since the beginning. If you’re looking for a fast read that has suspense, heartbreak, and steamy bedroom scenes, the Spark Series (Spark and Burn) by Brooke Cumberland is the perfect choice!
