Dylan Mathews grew up in a house that was always filled with good-looking guys. However, with four protective older brothers they never stood a chance.

Except for one.

Dylan knew she loved Ben McKenna from the first time she laid eyes on him. When he started sneaking in her room, she thought he felt the same way.

But just as their passion ignited, he left for college and never came back.

Until now.

Returning home after 5 years, Ben realizes Dylan has always been the one for him.

Can he win back her heart and finally find love under the orange moon?

Melanie says

Wow! I didn't expect for this book to get to me the way it did. I swooned, laughed, cried, and smiled. At times my chest hurt from the pain that the characters were in.  I can't believe that this is the authors first novel!

Under the Orange Moon what written in a narrators POV and it took a while to get used to reading that way, but once I got past it I realized that the story would not have had the effect that it had on me if it had been written differently.

Dylan is the only daughter and has four brothers. All of them are older except for Jonah, who is her twin. Ben, is Jonah's best friend and lives a few houses away. Ben has a very hard life. His father is a distant, hard to please judge that left when he was a boy but never divorced his mother. Ben's mother is a pill popping, abusive alcoholic mother that only sees her absent, cold husband in her sons eyes and ingrains in Ben that he is just like his father and isn't deserving of love.

From the moment Ben was old enough to remember, it had been drilled into his head that feelings were a weakness that truly strong, successful men should do without. It was weak to love, to cry, and to show compassion.

But at night, he sneaks into Dylan's room every night to cuddle with her. They never do anything else until he rejects her the night before he is to leave for college. Fast forward 5 years, to when Ben comes home for the first time since leaving and everything picks up where it was left off. But just like before, Ben alone with Dylan was very different from the Ben out in public and with her brothers.

... watching her in all her sun-drenched beauty, looking out over the scenery below, he only regretted more the way he acted when her brothers were around. He wondered if she knew how he really saw her: faultless and fascinating. He wondered if it was written all over his forehead as he imagined it was whenever he spoke to her. Even 5 years later, that spark - that fire - still burned only for her.
Beauty was not hard to come by. Ben could find it easily where ever he happened to glance. It was all around him on a regular basis. Dylan was more than just beautiful, though. She was resplendently perfect. But he could never have her.

I really enjoyed this book. The angst is throughout the entire book and your heart will break for both Ben and Dylan. There isn't a cliffhanger but I have a feeling that we will be reading more about the Mathew's brothers, at least I hope so!

4.5 Stars!!!!

Blog Tour: Finding the Right Girl by Violet Duke

From the New York Times & USA Today bestselling author who brought you the Nice Girl to Love trilogy, comes A Nice GUY to Love spin-off...

Brian Sullivan has been in love twice in his lifetime. He lost his first love to early-onset Huntington’s, and he lost the other more recently…to his brother. And somehow, his heart has managed to heal itself after both. Amazingly, without therapy. That doesn’t mean Brian hasn’t gotten more wary along the way, however. In fact, he’s been thinking lately that maybe his brother’s now retired nothing-but-flings rule isn’t such a bad idea. Unfortunately, being the nice guy poster boy and all, he isn’t exactly versed in the fine art of flings. So he looks to the outrageously ‘unique,’ provokingly button-pushing Tessa Daniels for a crash course.

There’s absolutely no way he’s falling in love with this one...right?

Tessa has no idea what she was thinking telling Brian that she was some sort of fling expert. She’s never been flung before and she sure as heck doesn’t know where or how to begin flinging a guy like Brian. It was a temporary lapse in sanity, really—no doubt because of the can’t-help-but-fall-for-him brain fuzz that hits her whenever he’s around. Not only does the man have her being more herself than she’s ever been in her life, but he’s the only person she knows who seems to have as many demons and skeletons in the closet as she does. What’s more, he’s got her thinking of the one thing she stopped letting herself even hope for years ago.

A happily ever after.

Catarina says…

Violet Dukes has written a story that will open up your heart to these characters and transport you into their story.

The story is about Brian Sullivan who has been married his high school sweetheart only to loose her to early-onset Huntington's, and doesn't want a serious relationship, his brother had an only flings rule and Brian considers to play by those rules for a while. That is until he meets Tessa who is quirky and full of life. But Tessa has secrets and isn't looking for a relationship.

You will fall in love with the other characters in the such a little Jilly who Tessa helps and Skylarh Brian's daughter.

This is not only a story of love but of discovery and how two people so opposite can come together to find happiness, how sometimes you need to allow yourself to accept help and you don't have to be strong all the time. That when you meet the right person, they are willing help you through your battles.

I gave this book 4 stars and I look forward to reading more of Violet Dukes books in this series.

New York Times & USA Today bestselling author Violet Duke is a former professor of English Education who is ecstatic to now be on the other side of the page writing wickedly fun contemporary romance novels. When she's not arguing with her story characters or feeding her book-a-day reading addiction, she enjoys tackling reno projects with her power tools while trying pretty much anything without reading the directions first and cooking 'special edition' dishes that laugh in the face of recipes. Violet lives in Hawai'i with her two cute kids and similarly adorable husband.

At Palisades High School every face tells a story…

Becky says

4 "colorful" stars

I normally don't read YA books because I'm really over the whole high school thing. It has been done and redone 1000 times. HOWEVER True Colors was something so much more. The synopsis made me curious so I wiped all assumptions away and went into this book completely open. I have never read anything by Melissa Pearl and I'm so glad I started with True Colors! She has made a fan out if me and I urge you not to pass this book up because its in the YA category =)

The main character, Caitlyn, is your typical shy high school student. She just tries to blend in, never really wanting attention. Her best friend is what I would call a "mean girl" and seems to make herself feel better by being bitchy towards others. When Caitlyn meets a homeless man, her world changes with just one touch. She has gained the "gift" to see behind the everyday masks that people wear. I love how Caitlyn transforms from a pushover to a girl on a mission. She is shocked at what she sees and digs to get to the bottom of it, causing trouble on her way. Lol. She uses her "gift" to help others and I love her selflessness!! Through all this she meets Eric and they fall for one another!

True Colors is extremely well written and the supporting characters were developed perfectly. I would love to have the ability to see peoples TRUE COLORS! I am sure I wouldn't use it for selfish reasons, I think I would use it to do good and help people! I can't wait for the next book to see what troubles await them!

Blog Tour: Three Rivers by Chloe T. Barlow

"A heartbreaking tale of letting go and learning to love again. A jaw-dropping debut novel you have to read.” - Helena Newbury, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author.

How do you start over when you gave everything to one life, one plan, and lost it all?
Althea refuses to allow herself to love again. Imprisoned in grief at twenty-four after her husband’s sudden death, she’s convinced her heart died along with him. She spends her days honoring his memory by clinging to the legal career he helped her to build and to the remaining pieces linking them together.

Griffen’s been running from his past. Despite success as an author and investigative journalist, he’s been traveling through life on autopilot. For a decade, he’s chosen perilous adventures and meaningless sex over the danger of any attachments. When he finally returns home to Pittsburgh, he’s slammed by the awakened memories and regret he’s spent years trying to escape.

A chance encounter brings them together. Their instant desire for each other – and the bond they discover between them – shocks them both. Despite her best efforts, Althea can’t resist Griffen’s charm or his intriguing proposition – if she agrees to a no-strings affair with him for the two weeks he’s in town, he swears he’ll walk away when their time is up. Assured she can test the waters of a new life while keeping her vow never to betray her husband’s memory by opening her heart to another, Althea throws herself into the escape Griffen provides her.

Their perfect plans go awry when the intensity of their connection overwhelms them. Will they risk it all on the chance of something great together…or will the power of their secrets and guilt tear them apart?
