Book description:
Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I'm a fifteen-year-old again--the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She's grown-up now--beautiful, quiet, composed--and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.

I need to make contact with her. Just to ensure that she's safe.

Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.

So, yeah, I'm stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she'll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.

My father.

SARAH'S 4.5 STAR REVIEW:

I absolutely love everything that Monica Murphy writes. Never Tear Us Apart is much rawer and grittier than her other books. This is book one in a two-part love story so it does end in a slight cliffhanger. It is also told in alternating points of few and focuses on both the past and present lives of the two main characters.
Katie went through a horrible tragedy 8 years ago and the only reason she is alive is because of Will who happens to be the son of the man that abducted her. She kept in contact with Will through letters but now hasn’t heard from him in a few years. Katie is struggling to move on with her life but does all she can to live a normal life as possible. She decides to open up and do an interview about her tragedy in hopes that it will help her move on. Through her journey of moving on Katie meets a guy named Ethan and for once she finally feels comfortable with a man. Will she be able to move forward with a relationship or will her past continue to haunt her?
"I want to live. I'd rather be dead. I want to be strong. It's so much easier to be weak. I want to confront my fears and face them head on. I want to run and pretend I don't exist."
Eight years later Will has changed his name as a way to get away from his past. He still thinks about Katie every day and is also haunted by letters from his father. After he sees Katie’s interview on T.V. He decides that he at least needs to see her and make sure she is O.K. They end up hanging out together and they more time they spend together the harder it gets for Ethan. He has always loved Katie and wants to have a relationship with her and now he must figure out a way to reveal the secret he has been keeping from her without scaring her off. Will these two be able to let go of their pasts and move on together or will the secret Ethan is keeping be too much for Katie to handle?
She called me her guardian angel and though I denied it, deep down inside, it felt good, her calling me that. Thinking of me in a good way. A positive way.
I loved the connection between Katie and Ethan. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. I am super excited for the conclusion of Katie and Ethan’s story!!
