I absolutely loved Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh. This is the first book in Gail's Torn Hearts series so this book does end in a cliffhanger. This is a highly emotional story that is very dark and gritty. If you don't like love triangles this book is definitely not for you.
Amber Moretti has been through a lot in her young life. She heads off to college for a fresh start and never expects to attract the attention of two hot guys. She tries to avoid both men but they are both very determined to get to know her. Her past has caused her to be fearful of commitment or letting anyone get close enough to see the real her. What will happen when these to determined men keep pushing her to open up to them? What will happen when she has to chose between the two? I guess you will have to read to find out.

Brock and Ryder are best friends and they both are immediately attracted to Amber. Brock comes across as a very charming guy who never gives up. He has a bad boy side to him that he tries very hard to keep hidden. He will do whatever it takes to break down Amber's walls and to get her to let him in. Ryder screams bad boy with his tattoos and piercings but underneath it he has a huge heart. He pisses Amber off the first time they met but there is something about him that keeps pulling Amber in. What will happen when Amber gives her heart to only one of these two men? How will the other one react to the news of not being picked by the girl he has fallen hard for?

I really loved the connection between the three main characters in this story. The secondary characters added lots of depth to this well written storyline. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I loved the emotional rollercoaster Gail took me on. All I can say is that this is a must read story and I will be not so patiently waiting to see what happens next in this beautifully written story.
