Off Limits: A Stepbrother MMA Romance

by Callie Harper

Tuck

I like to fight and I like to fuck.

Now’s my shot to fight for real, step out from my billionaire father’s shadow and be my own man. This summer’s all about going after my goal of becoming a pro MMA fighter.

The problem is the girl I want to fuck. She’s driving me crazy with her little yoga outfits, her creamy skin, luscious curves and wide-eyed innocence. Normally, I’d hit it and quit it, get her out of my system and focus.

But she’s my fucking stepsister. And she hates me. This summer we’re supposed to spend eight weeks together living under the same roof.

I need to taste her. I won’t rest until she’s writhing beneath me, begging me to let her come. I’m a man who gets what he wants, and what I want now is Jewel.

Jewel

I want him so bad it hurts. I’ve never felt this way before.

I’ve never had a problem keeping my distance from bad boys. The more muscles, tats and testosterone, the more I ran the other way. I learned my lesson, growing up with a trainwreck of a mother.

Until now.

Tuck makes my panties melt. He keeps me up at night, twisting in the sheets, obsessed with fantasies while I touch myself.

But he’s my stepbrother. And he’s an alpha, dominant asshole.

We’re sharing a house and he’s walking around shirtless, every inch of him ripped with hard muscle, sweaty after his brutal workouts. I don’t think I can hold out much longer. I’ve always been the good girl, but he makes me want to be bad.

***Off Limits is a standalone stepbrother romance novel with a HEA (85,000 words).

SHELLY'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

4 stars

Well I always love a good MMA book and in this one you meet the hot alpha male Tuck.  He has grown up the boy with a silver spoon in his mouth and living under his billionaire fathers shadow.  He decided to make it on his own doing what he love most, fighting.  He is one tatted, sexy, hot male.  Jewel has grown up with the movie star mom and always hid in the shadows.  She does everything she can to keep the attention off her.  She is that nerdy girl in too big clothing.  They want each other but won't give in.

The best part of this book was the build up of Jewel and Tuck wanting each other.  That was almost hotter than the sex scenes.  I said ALMOST because the sex scenes were dominant and panty melting.  Then there is that twist that makes Jewel tuck her head and run far and fast.  I also loved watching Jewel come out of her shell and start to become a bad girl.

"You kill me."

MMA, panty melting sexiness, alpha male, shy girl, all the previous included but there was that underlying story of how two people grew up and supported each other because they didn't always receive support from there parents, and finally a HEA.

Book Blitz! Santa's Naughty List by Mina Carter

Amazon * Nook

Blurb:

A Christmas Elf, Mia loves the holiday season, but due to her family moving when her father was a child, she's never been to the North Pole, nor seen a Santa until she joined the PPA. Now she only has eyes for Cole, one of the agency's Claus elves...but she doubts he even knows that she exists.

But Cole has noticed Mia, noticed and very much wants to learn more. If she'd only stop still so he can talk to her, instead of blushing and running off. But the night before Christmas eve brings with it the office christmas party.

And this Santa's decided one shy little elf is very much on his naughty list...

Snippet:

“You know she’s a Christmas elf, don’t you?”

Cole turned at the sound of his brother, Rhod’s, voice and followed his gaze to the petite woman stood at the buffet table. Instantly, every cell in his body perked up to pay attention.

Mia.

“She is?” He asked in confusion, without taking his eyes off the tiny woman.

She’d joined the agency in the summer, and he hadn’t been able to get her out of his mind. Tiny and curvy, with masses of dark hair that reminded him of roast chestnuts and caramel eyes that sparkled with mystery, she was temptation personified. A temptation he’d have been quick to snap up, except for the fact that she went bright red and ran off every time he tried to talk to her.

Shy was not the word.

“Well,” he said with a shrug. “That explains some things.”

Like the little tug just under his breastbone every time he saw her, and the need to make her smile…to see those sad eyes sparkle with laughter. A Christmas elf without Christmas, without the Pole, was a sad creature. Unlike the Claus elves, who carried Christmas within them, Christmas elves didn’t. They needed regular infusions of the Christmas spirit to make them the happy-go-lucky creatures that nature had intended them to be. The Christmas in him felt her sadness, sensed the void within her, and needed to fill it.

But it didn’t explain other things. Like the need to wrap his arms around her, or the need to find out if those plump, bee-stung lips tasted as good as they looked. It certainly didn’t explain the red mist that wanted to descend every time she smiled at another man. Those were down to good old primal instinct, and the fact he thought she was as sexy as hell.

He tracked her with his eyes as she moved around the room. Small groups of people parted to welcome her, and Cole had to grit his teeth as Darrick, one of the pixie operatives, casually looped an arm around her shoulders. He could tell from the set of her body she wasn’t comfortable with the casual touching.

“If you want her,” Rhod bumped Cole’s shoulder with his own. “You better make a move before Darrick does.”

About Mina:

Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all...

(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)

The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She's addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.

COVER REVEAL - THE MOTHER ROAD BY MEGHAN QUINN

Check out this gorgeous cover of THE MOTHER ROAD by Meghan Quinn! Be sure to read the excerpt too!

THE MOTHER ROAD by Meghan Quinn
NA Romantic Comedy
Release date: January 12, 2016
Cover Designed by: Meghan Quinn

Blurb:

Never in a million years would I have pictured myself as an axe-wielding, dragon lady, chopping up multi-colored flannel shirts into my very own plaid mulch. But here I am, chopping away my frustrations.

It all started when my brother, Paul, convinced me to go on one last family road trip across the Mother Road with him and my dad.. Just like old times, right? Wrong. What Paul fails to mention is his best man, Porter, will be joining us, who just so happens to be my childhood crush and the man who broke my heart four years ago.

What is supposed to be a fun, family bonding experience across Route 66 turns into a war

of pranks, awkward moments and bathrooms full of dirty flannel shirts and day old beard clippings. Paul’s know-it-all attitude and Porter’s devilish charm brings me to the brink of my sanity on my seven day trek across the United States with three bearded men in a small 1980’s RV.

Excerpt

“Marley, put the axe down and step away from the flannels,” Porter says, hands extended, as if he wants to help.

“You’re not in a good frame of mind. This is not who you are. You’re not an axe wielding psychopath looking to make a pile of long sleeved cotton into your very own plaid colored mulch,” Paul tries to convince her.

“Buttons, please put the axe down. We can talk about whatever is bothering you. Please don’t chop up Daddy’s Americana flannel shirt.”

Let’s pause for a second; do you see those three men standing to the side, fear in their eyes, sweat at their temples, with their hands clutched at their waists and their asses tight enough to pop open a bottle of beer?

Yeah, those three, they’re the reason why I’m foaming at the mouth, gripping an axe three sizes too big for my body with my heels dug deep into the wet and muddy ground.

That’s me, Marley McMann, the brunette in the “rustic” orange bridesmaid dress with a bouquet sticking out of my hair and a pile of multi-colored poly-blend barf rags resting in front of me, waiting to be minced into my very own personal hamster shit shavings.

I’m not usually threatening to slice the buttons off of men’s clothing with a lead shiv big enough to cut down a knotty vagina-looking sycamore tree. But I’ve had my limit.

There comes a time in a girl’s life when she has to reach deep down into her soul, clear the pathways of her inner goddess, and let out her nuclear Satan. You know what I’m talking about.

The crazy.

Don’t try to act like you don’t have it; every woman does.

Let me paint you a picture. It’s that time of the month; its shark week, as some may say. The civil war is being reenacted by your ovaries and death is scatted over your fallopian tubes. You’re crippled over in pain on your couch, half a Snickers bar hanging out of your mouth, a heating pad pressed against your innards, and a blanket wrapped around you as if you’re a cocktail wiener in a Pillsbury croissant. The Hallmark Channel is airing that Mario Lopez movie you’ve been dying to see and not because the plot looks good, but because you want to reminisce on your Saved by the Bell days. Mario is the only thing getting you through this time of need, that and the chocolate drool slowly dripping into the back of your throat.

You’re content, minus the battlefield in your uterus, when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, the mister in your life flops on the couch, causing a ripple within your cocoon. Your heating pad shifts and your Snickers bar falls to the ground. The swoon-worthy shot of Mario with his shirt off gets switched to some stupid sporting game just as the mister lifts his ass in your direction and blasts two large farts.

Can you feel the monster start to awaken?

You try to remain calm; you tell yourself it’s going to be alright…until one simple crack of his knuckles rings through the room. You lose it. Your eyelids flip inside out, fire shoots out of your vagina, and your toenails grow to exponential pterodactyl lengths. You’re at his throat, scratching his jugular with your toes until you’re satisfied enough with the human carnage you’ve turned him into.

That moment right there, that’s where I’m at.

In all honesty, I’m a pleasant human. I have my own beauty blog and live in sunny Los Angeles, where I pay an ass ton of money to live in a two-bedroom apartment the size of walk-in closet, but I make it work. You know those hidden Murphy beds? I have one; be jealous. I get to work from home, test out different cosmetics, and write about them. I’ve got a pretty easy going life, or at least I did.

It all started when Paul, my older brother, decided to get married. No, this isn’t one of those stories where I talk about the evil soon to be sister-in-law and how she’s ruined my life. I actually adore Savannah; she’s perfect for my brother, minus the big eyes. I swear she blinks three times less than the average human.

This is about the week leading up to my brother’s wedding…the week that I now refer to on my blog as the journey of three beards and a mascara brush.

Confused? Don’t be; you will understand very quickly where I’m coming from.

PROLOGUE

SADIE

Two years ago

I can’t breathe.

Her arms desperately thrashed as Melbourne’s vicious underbelly boss held her face into the river. Sadie Harris felt it. The hand in her hair. The fingernails in her arm. Pushing her. Drowning her. Forcing her to inhale water. Every time she saw the black start to encroach her vision, he’d wrap her hair around his hand and yank her to the surface.

On instinct she gasped for it.

The air seemed heavy.

The air felt synthetic as it surged into her lungs.

Her chokes, she felt against her throat.

Her coughs added to the burn.

Then it hit her.

The water rose up, leaving an agonising cut along the way as she threw it up.

The tears, Sadie couldn’t help. The water torture Vincent Salvatore had unleashed on her was exactly that. Torture. Over and over again. More and more. He’d had her wishing for death.

Death would be so easy.

She screamed words telling him to do it. To kill her. Make it all go away. Stop the brutality. Words that seemed like the words to say. He’d already ran the knife throughout the length of her body. Knicks and stabs he had made.

Then Salvatore bent down.

And Sadie felt the delicious sensation of the cold barrel of his gun run along the side of her face.

Death was easy when it was in the hands of a mad man.

BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW: THE BEST GOODBYE BY ABBI GLINES

THE BEST GOODBYE
ABBI GLINES

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the next sizzling novel in the Rosemary Beach series, featuring well-known playboy and Blaire’s half brother, Captain.

“The look on Rose’s face had screamed that she was hiding something. Hell, she’d practically run away from me. There was something to that. I knew there was . . . “

After ten years in the employ of a mysterious crime boss, River “Captain” Kipling is ready to leave his sordid past—and his cover occupation as an upscale restaurateur—behind him. The only thing standing in the way of his “retirement” is his commitment to launch a new restaurant in the resort town of Rosemary Beach. With his sister, Blaire, nearby, Captain can delay his dream of running a humble bar on the waterfront, but the unwanted attentions of his head server, Elle, have him itching to get out.

Until he notices Rose Henderson, the new server at the restaurant. All he knows about the pretty redhead with the cute glasses is that she’s a hardworking single mom from Oklahoma. But there’s something overly familiar about her laugh…something strange about the way she looks at Captain…

SHANNON'S REVIEW:

The Best Goodbye – Abbi Glines
4 Stars

River Kipling is a tough around the edges and hard to deal with SOB.  We’ve met him in books previously and he wasn’t very charismatic to say the least but we all knew he was a sexy, secretive, and all alpha guy. With him being Blaire’s brother, we all wanted to give him a chance but he made it just too damn hard to like.  We learn in The Best Goodbye that Captain suffered a major loss ten years ago and that changed him and his total outlook on life.  He’s taken on a new job to head up a restaurant in Rosemary Beach where Blaire is living with her family. He’s already made plans that as soon as this job is over he’s headed to the water and fishing; where he’s the happiest.

Rose Henderson is one of his new employees at the restaurant and she has a secret.  A ten year old secret that’s full of life, happiness, and is what keeps Rose going. River finds himself attracted to Rose and tries to keep that attraction at bay, unaware that he and Rose have a connection from the past that will shake his whole foundation.

We follow their story in the present and with flashbacks. We watch their history unfold and learn what kind of heartbreak and turmoil they both suffered at the hands of a woman who was suppose to love them both. We the watch their present take on different meanings for both of them.

This book takes us back to the first of the series with Abbi’s writing, the angst, the love, and the heartache.  We are able to catch up  with some of the original characters like Rush and Blaire which what I love most about Abbi’s books, they always incorporate other characters that made us fall in love with her books.

I looked up and all of the composure I’d worked so hard to regain melted away. A few yards behind me, staring at me in the reflective glass, was a man who made my heart stop. My breath hitched and I was paralyzed as my mind raced for the appropriate response to Gregory Michaels’ unexpected appearance. Whatever mutiny my body staged against my mind wasn’t the response I was hoping for. By some miracle, the door opened in front of me, breaking the spell.

An average-looking man in a nondescript business suit held the door, waiting politely for me to pass through. In a daze, I shuffled in and spun around to find Mr. Michaels standing in the same spot, still looking at me. I knew he couldn’t see me through the dark glass, but that didn’t lessen the impact of his gaze. He walked toward the door, his expression intent, purposeful. I struggled to take a step back, as if some invisible force pulled me toward him. I’d never felt anything like it before, so I did the only reasonable thing I could think of.

I ran.

The ladies restroom was just a few yards away so I ducked inside.

What. The. Fuck? I leaned against the door of the woman’s bathroom. That wasn’t me out there. Men didn’t have that effect on me; I had it on them. I was always in control. Every step I’d taken regarding men for as long as I could remember was part of a well laid out plan. Until that moment.

I pulled the door just enough to peer through the crack. My pulse thudded in my ears. Looking at him, completely uninhibited by the risk of discovery, it was impossible to deny my attraction to him. The flush of my skin and the fluttering in my stomach gave it away all too well.

Gregory Michaels scanned the lobby, looking for something, or someone. Knowing in my bones what he was looking for was me pleased me far more than it should have. Ignoring the temptation to exit and let him find me, I kept watching. He approached the desk manned by two security officers.

“Oh! Excuse me!” the woman entering the bathroom nearly shouted.

I jumped back, my hand over my chest. The surprise flooded me with an extra dose of adrenaline as if my senses weren’t already on high alert. Still holding the door open, she studied me for a moment before looking over her shoulder back into the lobby. Turning back to me, she giggled with a knowing expression and stepped through the doorway.

“He has that effect,” she said, moving past me as the door closed.

Thank God the door blocked me from view. I smiled at her unashamed. Under different circumstances I would have openly appreciated Gregory Michaels with any nearby woman, or man for that matter, who had the use of their eyes. Blindness was surely the only defense against that kind of appeal.

“Is that Mr. Michaels?” I played dumb. There was no doubt who he was. I’d spent more time than was necessary looking at pictures of him for my research. None of that research prepared me for my body’s reaction to him

She raised her eyebrows.

“Oh, this is your first time seeing him in person. I would tell you it gets easier, but I’ve worked here for over a year and still get nervous around him.”

I could understand why.

I shrugged, smiling at her in the mirror.

“Thanks for the heads-up. I’m interviewing to replace his administrative assistant.”

“Lucky you! I thought they were looking to fill that position internally.” She extended her hand. “I’m Stacy, accounting department. You better watch out. More than one of your new coworkers will be pissed if you get the job.”

It sounded like a joke, but the look in her eyes told me she was serious.

“Claudia, Claudia Winston,” I replied as we shook hands. The last name from my childhood felt strange on my lips.

I’d decided to use my real first name for the job, considering I was working at home and there was always the possibility of running into someone who knew me. People don’t typically shout out last names when they bump into acquaintances on the street, and even if they did, a new last name was much easier to explain away.

Winston was my father’s last name. I legally changed my last name to my mother’s maiden name after she died. It was another way to cut my father, Robert, out of my life.

Apart from my name, the rest of my identity was entirely fake. Bridget created a false work history, school transcripts, and credit report under a recycled social security number, which I then used to rent a small one-bedroom apartment a few blocks from my real one. Bridget ensured everything was in place for me to pass the intense background check G&G’s human resources department would run if I was considered for the position.

“Unfortunately, the yummy Mr. Michaels is only for looking at. He’s happily married to a gorgeous saint of a woman,” Stacy said before reapplying her lipstick in the mirror.

I contained my sarcastic laugh. Forget that his wife hired me to seduce him and was considering divorce, the way he’d looked at me told me in no uncertain terms his marriage was far from happy. Poor Elsa. Guilt tugged at the corners of my mind. Another odd feeling for me. Clearly meeting my mark’s wife had more of an impact than I’d anticipated.

“Good to know.”

I glanced at the door, wondering if the coast was clear. Of course the goal was for me to meet him, and his initial reaction to me was far better than I could have hoped for. The problem was my initial reaction to him. I needed to be in control. It had to be on my terms. After all, he was just another job. He was just another job. It didn’t hurt to remind myself a second time.

“Well, I guess I’ll see you around.” Stacy headed for the door.

I held my breath, waiting for a glimpse into the lobby from my safe vantage point.

With no sign of Mr. Michaels, I moved closer to the exit to get a better look before the door closed. He was gone as far as I could tell. I only had a few minutes before my meeting with Janet, so it was now or never. Inhaling deeply, I slung my bag over my shoulder and stood tall.

I strode over to the security desk, using every ounce of the acting skills I possessed to maintain a facade of self-assurance.

“Hi.” I smiled at the Mack truck of a security guard. “I’m Claudia Winston here to see Mrs. Janet Peterson.”

He flashed a cocky grin, reminding me of Mr. Fantastic from Florida.

“Go on through, um, Ms. Winston,” he said, taking an obvious peek at my left hand.

Stepping through the gate, I consciously told my feet to take each step toward the elevator. How the hell was I supposed to sit through an interview, knowing a man who’d evoked such a tempest of emotion in me was somewhere close by? I whispered prayers as I walked, unsure if they were to keep him away or bring him to me.

When the elevator doors parted, it seemed they must have been the latter.

“Going up?” Mr. Michaels said, a half smile smug on his face as he leaned against the wall. His head tilted forward and his warm honey-colored eyes glinted through long lashes.

Fuck. Me.

I was abandoned.

I was lost.

Now that she’s back, can I find it within myself to leave the past in the past and forgive so we can move forward and have the life I’d imagined?

I’m just a regular ol’ Midwest girl who likes Game of Thrones and am obsessed with Modern Family and The Goldbergs. I run, I eat, I run, I eat. It’s a vicous cycle. I love carbs, but there’s love-hate relationship with my ass and thighs. Mostly hate. I like a good cocktail (oh hell…who am I kidding? I love any cocktail). I’m a huge creature of habit, but I’ll tell you I’m flexible. I read every single day and if I don’t get a chance…watch the hell out, I’m a raving bitch. My iPad and me: BFFs. I’m direct and I make no apologies for it. I swear too much. I love alternative music and in my next life I want to be a bad-ass female rocker. I hate, hate, hate spiders, telemarketers, liver, acne, winter and loose hairs that fall down my shirt (don’t ask, it’s a thing).
