BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW: YOU LOVED ME AT MY UGLIEST BY EVIE HARPER

Title: You Loved Me At My Ugliest
Series: You Loved Me Series #3
Author: Evie Harper
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: July 28, 2015

She’s no stranger to love and loss…

By age eighteen, Alexa Kingsley had lost everyone. Only Joey, the lonely boy next door, remained. He’d clung to Alexa like a lifeline through years of abuse at the hands of his father, and she vowed to protect him as best she could. Alexa thought Joey was the one person who’d always be there—until the day he left her as well. Finally forced to go it alone, Alexa finds this latest loss may hurt worst of all.

He’s no stranger to lack of love…

Joseph O’Connor was every bit the villain his father trained him to be, his young heart twisted into something ugly, corrupted. But his father underestimated the girl next door, miscalculated the impact Lexi would have on Joey’s life, the spark she ignited that eventually, despite all odds, grew to an inferno of hope. To reclaim her, Joey must first become a man Lexi can be proud of…the kind of man she deserves.

Amidst a shadowy world of guns and drugs, will Joey’s ultimate sacrifice—a declaration of love from a man who was never shown any at all—be enough to finally set him free?

SHANNON'S 5 STAR REVIEW:

5 Never Let Go Stars

Evie Harper has written one of the best endings to a trilogy that I've ever read. In Darkest and Weakest we read about the female leads, Lily and Emily. But she threw me for a pleasant loop when in Ugliest we read about Joseph "Joey" O'Connor instead of Alexa.

I loved the fact that Joey was trying to help bring his father down in the previous two books and I hurt for him a little when Alexa left him, not a lot just a little. Then I turned on my kindle and I started reading.
I read the pain and the hurt that Joey endured. I read about the love that he and Alexa shared from an early age. Then I read about the final goodbye.

One time too many Joey chose his revenge over Alexa. When she heads to Acapulco to find out whether or not Joey is alive she never expected to run right into him. She thought for sure she'd have to search high and low for him. But fate, being the witch she is, interceded and Alexa ran right into his mafia family. Marco, his father was bad enough but his Uncle Michael isn't what she was expecting.

What happens when Joey must, once more, choose his family and revenge over her? Better yet, what happens when she gets caught in the crossfire of a family imploding and an outside family trying to take them down, as well? Will Joey ever put her first or will he lost her again, this time for good?

If you haven't read this fabulous series, you need to. At the time of posting, the first book is free and the other two are on sale.

I cannot wait to read the spinoff series, Portland Street Kings. It's going to follow another O'Connor and a special guy from this series. You just have to read to find out which ones!

Favorite Quotes:
"Not everything is as it seems, Alexa. Welcome to a world of lies, manipulation, blackmail, and more often than not, death."

Give me crazy, passionate, heartache for the rest of my life, because it hurts so beautifully.

"Oh gods I have stalked this author and this book right from the get go, freaking love this author and her writing style, the dark, the emotions, the grit, all things that make this one of my favourite authors.." ~ Kitty Kats Crazy About Books

Reckless Weekend

by Eden Summers
Blog Tour

Add to Goodreads

Synopsis

In Vegas, a lot
can happen in twenty-four hours.

What do you get when you mix a rock band as hot
as Reckless Beat, women strong enough to capture several of the bad boys’
hearts, and a bet that sparks a competitive streak?

Boundaries
will be pushed, alcohol will be abused, and loads of sarcasm will be shared.

Once the games are over, it’s time to make a
commitment. But love in the limelight is never easy. The past is trying to
catch up with the present, and the pressure may be too hard to handle.

Seduction,
torment, laughter, and heartbreak—one reckless weekend will test each member of
the band and the women who’ve claimed their love.

***Can be read as a stand alone

SARAH'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

I really enjoyed Reckless Weekend by Eden Summers. I haven't read any of the other books in this series but I will definitely be buying them soon so I can get a better understanding of the characters.

Reckless Beat is heading to Las Vegas for a bachelor/bachlorette party to celebrate the upcoming wedding of Mitchell and Alana. Mitchell knows that Alana has been stressing out over all the wedding planning so him and the girls decide to help her let loose a little bit while in Vegas. They come up with a honeymoon challenge where each group comes up with a crazy list of challenges for the other group. If the boys win Mitchell gets to pick the honeymoon destination and if the girls win Alana get to pick. I loved the banter between the band members as they tried to complete each challenge. When the girls are out Alana can tell that something is wrong with Gabi but she isn't sure what it is. When Gabi finally comes clean to Blake about what is bothering her the band rallies together to comfort them. I love what happened next for Blake and Gabi and the special moments they shared. Mitch and Alana's wedding was beautiful even with the surprise guest that may be up to no good.

❝I just need you to be mine. And I need to be yours.❞

This book definitely took me an quite the emotional rollercoaster and I loved every minute of it. I loved the deep bond all the band members share and how they fight like brothers. I also enjoyed the deep bond that all the girls share and how supportive they are of each other. I am excited to get caught up on this series before the next book releases.

Reckless Beat Interview

Today we’re
lucky enough to be interviewing Mitchell Davies, lead guitarist from Reckless
Beat. Not only is he here to share a little about himself, but he’s kindly
brought along some friends. Bass guitarist, Blake Kennedy, and drummer, Sean
Taiden. ~ Eden Summers Interviewing

Mitch: Hi’ya,
guys. Bringing the tagalongs was totally not my idea, but unfortunately I
couldn’t get rid of ‘em.

Blake: *winks
at Eden* Hey, sugar.

Sean: *rolls
eyes* Yeah, some of us are starved for just a glimpse of your spotlight.

Ok, let’s get this interview started.

What or who is the
greatest love of your life?

Mitch: *smiles* Ms. Alana Shelton.

Blake: She’s a top chick.

Sean: Fortunately for
Mitch, she was blind for the start of their relationship. It’s probably the
reason why he’s been able to keep her for so long.

*Mitch flips
Sean the bird*

What is your most marked characteristic?

Mitch: *shrugs* I’m awesome.

Blake: *snorts* I think that
would be his modesty.

Sean: Really? You really
just said that?

Mitch: *leans back into the couch*
I totally did. I owned it, too.

What is it that you most dislike?

Mitch: Nosey-ass bass
guitarists.

Blake: Seriously? I told
you, if you leave the door open, it’s an invitation for me to join in. I don’t
care what you and Alana are doing. Either close the door, or I’m comin’ in to
play.

Which living person do you
most despise?

Mitch: Right now, I think it
would be a close tie between Blake and Sean.

Sean: *chuckles* Yeah,
cause we all didn’t see that comin’.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Mitch: Eyes

Blake: Smile

Sean: Ass

*Mitch and
Blake turn to Sean.*

Mitch: We were trying to
play it cool and you have to go and be a jerk. Of course we all love a bit of T
& A but you aren’t meant to say it in a fuc…damn interview.

Sean: *shrugs* I love ass.

Blake: *bursts into
laughter* Did you hear what you just said?

Which words or phrases do
you most overuse?

Mitch: Any and all
expletives.

Blake: You do say ‘fuck’ a
lot. Ohh, shit, sorry. Was I not meant to swear in this interview?

If you could change one
thing about yourself, what would it be?

Mitch: My friends

Blake: *Grabs Mitch around the
head, bends him over and gives him a noogie.*
 I know you love me,
bro. You don’t gotta hide it.

*Mitch pushes
Blake away, and fights to wipe the grin from his face.*

How would you like to die?

*Mitch starts
singing* Shot downnnn in a blaze of gloryyy.

Sean: Dude, you really
can’t sing.

*Mitch gives
Sean the bird*

Sean: You need to come up
with a better come back.

*Mitch gives
Sean the double bird*

Sean: Oh, yeah, that’s much
better.

If you were to die and come back as a person or
thing, what do you think it would be?

Mitch: A guitar

Blake: A vibrator

Sean: Damn, bro, you took
my answer!

Fans of Abbi Glines and Katy Evans will adore Take the Fall, the first spinoff novel from Marquita Valentine’s New York Times bestselling Boys of the South series. In this emotional new romance, passions run hot as a rugged, brooding Marine rekindles an old flame.

As a teenager, Seth O’Connor went to jail for a crime he had nothing to do with. He took the fall to protect the girl he loved, but the cruel realities of prison hardened him. After doing his time, Seth shuts her out and enlists in the Marines—until his grandmother’s funeral forces him to come home and face Rowan Simmons once again. The woman she’s become puts all his high-school memories to shame, and Seth wants her more than ever. Can he be honest about why he denied her for so long?

After Seth pushed her away, Rowan swore that no man would ever hurt her again. But the boy who broke her heart has become a sexy Marine, capable of fulfilling her every desire—and now that he’s back in town, old feelings are simmering to a boil. Rowan wants to stay strong, even as her body surrenders to his expert touch. She only hopes that by taking him back, she can finally help heal the wounds that drove them apart

Excerpt (Please choose ONLY one)
Excerpt 1
“You want me to drive?” I ask, trying to keep the excitement out of my voice. I don’t want to look like a complete tool in front of my girl’s older brother, but the last word cracks in my throat.
Shit.
Embarrassed as hell, I cough, like something got caught and was responsible for my soprano warbling, and run a hand through my hair before I start over. “I mean, I guess I can.” I shrug. “Whatever, bro.”
Jase Simmons, two years older at nineteen, slices his gaze to me. I’ve idolized him ever since I spied on him in his garage with his hand up Melissa Layton’s skirt. He’d been fourteen, a juvie regular, and a freshman in high school. Melissa had been eighteen, a homecoming queen, and a senior, but from the way she clutched his shoulders and moaned his name—their differences didn’t seem to matter very much. If at all.
Luckily, he didn’t think I was a perv when he caught me snooping. Instead, he took my scrawny ass under his wing, kept me from being beat up by the other kids in the neighborhood, and taught me how to trick out a car.
He tosses me the keys, and I catch them. “Cut the shit, O’Connor, and get in.”
Grinning, I slide into the tricked-out sports car. The driver’s seat is all black leather, soft and supple. I run my hands over the steering wheel, gripping it once before letting it go.
Despite this being my first time up, I know there’s no way I won’t win. Tony Johnson’s car has nothing on Jase’s Mustang, and Jase has been coaching me in my ’98 Nissan. Come tomorrow, I for damn sure will be driving Rowan to school in Tony’s Camaro.
“You done feeling her up?” Jase asks, listening to the police scanner a friend of his holds. Yeah, street racing isn’t exactly legal. Okay, forget exactly. It’s strictly illegal, and our asses could go to jail if we get caught.
But the thrill of it—the way my heart is pumping right now—there’s no way in hell I’m giving up my turn to race.
“Just getting to know her.”
“She doesn’t want you to know her. She wants to be driven.” He shuts the passenger side door. “So drive it like you borrowed it from a guy who will kick your ass from here to the Outer Banks if you wreck it.”
Blood drains from my face. “Don’t you mean stole it?”
“Hell, no.” Jase gives me a pointed look. “They’re waiting and betting on you to win.”
I glance out the window, watching as a group of people jostle for a front-row view as money exchanges hands. My stomach churns. I can’t let anyone down, especially not a crowd of people who don’t want to part with their money.
Sweat breaks out on my upper lip, and I swipe at it with my tongue.
A flash of sunshine catches my eye. My girlfriend, Rowan, stands directly in the middle. Her smile is so big that my heartbeat gets all crazy. I think I’ve loved Rowan for as long as I have known her. Considering that she punched me in the stomach in kindergarten for not letting her on the swing set first, that’s a long damn time.
“Staring at my sister won’t help,” Jase growls.
Oh, shit. He’s going to kill me. “I wasn’t staring.”
Jase laughs. “Rowan told me the two of you are officially dating.”
Instead of replying to that right away, I start up the engine. It roars to life before settling in to an idling purr. Best sound on earth. An image of a nude Rowan flashes in my head. She moans my name. Okay, so second-best.
Crap. I can’t think of Jase’s sister nude or moaning while I’m sitting right beside the dude. Sweat gathers at the small of my back and I take a deep, sustaining breath.
“Rowan really said that?” I ask all nonchalantly.
“Yeah.” He rolls down the window and lights a cigarette. The end of it glows bright orange. “She’s got bigger balls than you.”
Pretty sure those balls are mine. That girl owns me. All of me. “I was going to tell you.” Putting the car into gear, I inch it forward to line up with the Camaro beside us.
Jase grunts. “After the wedding?”
I haven’t asked Rowan to marry me, but I can see it happening. After she’s done with college, and I’ve worked long enough at my grandmother’s auto shop to become a manager.
“I love your sister, Jase. She’s not just a—”
“You can stop at I love your sister,” he says, cutting me off. “I don’t need to know any more than that. And since I haven’t heard you running your mouth about whatever extracurricular activities the two of you have been up to, I’m content to let you live.”
The phrase for now is implied. “I totally respect her.”
He slices his gaze to look at me, a smirk on his face. “Does that mean she’ll be a virgin on her wedding night?”
almost choke. “Uh . . . ah . . .” Rowan and I have been having sex for five months now. I’m her first and she’s my second. Actually, she’s my last.
Jase punches me in the side. “I’m fucking with you, but if you get her pregnant—then it’s a shotgun wedding. If you hurt her, then a bullet to the balls. You got me?”
got him. In fact, I’m completely terrified of him. Most people I know are terrified of him. Except my grandmother . . . she loves Jase. So much so that he’s the head mechanic at her shop. He is an amazing mechanic. I’m pretty sure he can take an engine apart and put it back together in his sleep.
