BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW: SUIT, THE TWIN DUO BY JETTIE WOODRUFF

BLOG TOUR & GIVEAWAY
SUIT (THE TWIN DUO)
JETTIE WOODRUFF
RELEASE DAY SEPTEMBER 21ST

When my sister, Isabelle showed up, just ahead of a tropical storm, nostalgia and a need to reconnect took us on a ride...directly into the eye of a different kind of disaster. I woke from a coma unaware that I even had a twin and married to a man with two little girls. Although I fell madly in love with children that I didn't remember, I did't feel like I belonged with Paxton Pierce. I couldn't be who he wanted me to be no matter how hard I tried. But things aren't always as they seem. I fought my own demons, trying not to be the submissive he required me to be, yet I craved it like a drug. I wanted him.
Once upon a time I was an identical twin.
And then I wasn't.

SHELLY'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

4 Stars

Kudos to Ms. Woodruff who weaved a story that will suck you in, mess with your mind, give you a false sense of happiness and then boom - blow it all up.

We meet Gabriella who is recovering from an accident but doesn't remember anything.  Paxton is her husband and he is a man that runs hot and cold.  One minute you hate him and then he is sexy as sin.  Throughout this whole story I felt like I was living in the mind of Gabriella as she tries to figure out her life and her husband.  You are right their with every moment that is terrifying, confusing, and happy.  The story is told for Gabriella POV but when she sleeps she has dreams/flashbacks to her childhood.  This helps you get to know her.  Paxton is a dominate man who wants to be in charge.  As the story progresses you can see he struggles with who the "new" Gabriella is.  There are times he lets his guard slip a little.

So I will be confident and say that a few chapters in I thought to myself I have this all figured out.  I know how it is going to end.  Well Ms. Woodruff thank you for blowing up that theory and proving me wrong.  Oh there were some things I was right about but for the most part she threw in twists and turns that I was like WHAT???  When is come to the ending I said a few (ok many) choice words and wanted to throw my kindle.  That is saying a lot about this story because I knew going into it that it was a cliffhanger but I was so invested in the story that I wasn't happy.  I am so happy part 2 is just around the corner.

This is the kind of story that you read and think to yourself what am I going to write in my review to do it justice.  Well because of that I highly recommend you pick up this book yourself.

The next time I woke the
window revealed darkness. I felt irritated, but wasn’t sure why. Maybe because
the neurologist never came like he said he would. Maybe because I hurt. I hurt
everywhere. Even my eyes. Maybe the agitation came from seeing him. Why? Why
was he there? Why couldn’t he just go away? I gave him a dirty look and hit my
call button.
Paxton nobly walked to my
side. “I can help you. What do you need?”
I shoved his hand away from
mine. With all my might, I tried to move. Just rolling to my side caused
excruciating pain. Pain like I had never felt in my life. At least not that I
remembered.
My voice raised, yet it was
faint. “I want out of this bed, I want to know what’s wrong with me, and I want
you to go away. That’s what I need!” Faded words was all that I could muster.
It even pained me to raise my voice. My muscles didn’t work, and the ones that
did, hurt too much to move.
“Seriously? Tears? Give me a
fucking break,” Paxton said, arrogant tone and all.
I wanted to tell him off,
tell him to go fuck himself. The words were on the tip of my tongue, but they
never formed in my mouth. The pain wouldn’t let them.
“What can we do for you,
Gabriella?” Another new nurse asked. She moved around me, checking vitals and
the drip in my I.V. while she spoke.
“I have to pee, and I need
something for pain.”
“You have a catheter, but I
can give you something for the pain. Tell me where the pain level is, one to
ten.”
“Ten, more than ten. Oh, God.
Give me something. Please,” I begged. My neck and shoulders hurt every time I
moved my head, but I couldn’t help it. I was in unbearable pain, and nothing
else was on my mind. I just wanted it to stop.
“Where’s the pain,
Gabriella?”
“I don’t know. All over. My
head, my neck, my back, my leg. It hurts everywhere. And it still feels like I
have to pee.”
“Let me get you some
Dilaudid. I’ll be right back.”
I squirmed as much as
possible while I waited for relief, holding a flat hand over my face. Trying to
squeeze the pain from my temples didn’t work at all. It still hurt.
“Shhh, I’ve got you. Just
relax.” Soft words were whispered into my ear and Paxton’s warm body blanketed
my chest. His hands moved around me and he held me close to him. The scent of
“Stop fighting it, Gabriella. You’re only making it worse. You’re okay. I’ve
got you,” he said in a quiet tone while leaving soft kisses around my neck.
It’s stupid, but it did feel like it helped, like maybe some of the pain was
lifted.

Tears slid down both of my
eyes and he kissed them away, shushing me with soft words. Confusing emotions
flooded my body while I wept in the arms of a man I didn’t know. I didn’t know
what to say, what to feel, what to do, nothing. I knew nothing.

My
name is Jettie Woodruff. I am from Ohio. I don't know what genre I write in.
People tell me I have my own genre. I write whatever I feel, because
that’s what makes me happy. I don’t want to be in that box where I can
only write
one genre.
I
tend to like my bad boy's, taboo; the touchy subjects that make you want to
throw your kindle. Usually at said hot alpha male. Sometimes the female lead as
well. My motto is life is short. Very short. If it doesn't make you happy
anymore then why do it? Move on. Some of my favorite things, besides
writing are, friends, family, and the beach. Music, although my interest has
changed after forty, I like the new stuff.
Happy Reading.

 Blurb:

People change. Motives change. Situations can change.

For six months, Hannah Matthews has held it together as best she can for her twin girls. On Labor Day, she returned from their vacation only to discover her husband had cleaned out the apartment and bank account, but left the bills. Over-educated and under-employed, her lease has increased, her income hasn’t, and she's forced to seek an unconventional living situation.

Affluent businessman Gavin Meyers is looking for someone to punish since his divorce has left him bitter and wounded. When his lawyer suggests he find a hobby, he can only think of one: revenge. When he spots a personal ad for a sugar daddy, he knows this woman will suffice.

Keeping it perfectly legal, he has a lawyer draft a contract, the Terms of Service for their new life together. It seems cut and dried, but love, lust, and revenge are complications that defy every perfect plan.

Snippet

“What’s going on with you, Hannah?”  He spoke gently.

Her head dropped.  Finally, in exasperation, she mumbled, “I don’t want to talk about it.” Then she looked away.

“Okay,” he said calmly. “Let’s start with an easier question.  Where did you go when you left the house today?”  Gavin concentrated on maintaining a calm exterior, even if it killed him.

She sighed.  “I had to go to a child support hearing.” She stared at him with wide eyes.

It was as though she was willing him to ask the right questions so she could give him the correct answers, the answers he so desperately needed.  “So, Amy was with you,” Gavin said.  Hannah nodded in response.  “All right.  I take it the hearing went badly?”  He hadn’t had to deal with this aspect of divorce proceedings.

Suddenly, the dam broke and Hannah spewed forth the details of the hearing.  “He brought the stripper with him,” she mourned.  “I can’t believe he brought her with him!”  She set her mug on the railing as she shook from the emotion of it all.

Gavin studied her.  Was she still attracted to her ex?  Was this why she was so upset?  Or, he desperately hoped, was it something else?  “Do you still want to be with him?” Truth be told, he had to know.

The look on Hannah’s face said it all.  She was revolted, disgusted at the idea.  “No,” she said adamantly.  “I have no desire to ever be with Brett again.”

Now they were getting somewhere.  “Then what’s troubling you so?”

She exhaled slowly for a moment.  “I hate having it shoved in my face.”  She shook her head.  “I hate having to see he’s happy with her in a way he never was with me.”  She fixed her expressive eyes on him.  “It’s knowing I’m not enough.  It’s having my pride continually shattered.  It’s the constant blow to my ego.  It’s feeling so alone…” Her voice trailed off.

“Is that what you feel?” Gavin asked incredulously.  “You feel alone?”  He opened his arms and took a step toward her, but she backed away.  “Let me be close to you,” he said.

Hannah stared at him like a deer caught in headlights.  “I can’t,” she murmured, shaking her head.

He tried a new approach.  “Don’t you ever want to be close to someone?  No strings?  No expectations?”

“Yes, but…”

“But what?”  He walked toward her with open arms and watched helplessly as she backed away.

“I’m too scared,” she admitted in a whisper.  This time she didn’t back away, this time she didn’t drop her gaze.

Gavin knew she was out of space.  There was no more room for her to back away.  He had her pinned against the corner of the railing.  Slowly he stepped towards her as if he were trying to tame a wild mare.  “I won’t hurt you,” he murmured, reaching for her.

She closed her eyes.  “I don’t believe you.”

Gavin wrapped his arms around her and drew her into the warmth of his embrace.  He could feel her stiffen at first, unwilling to yield, unwilling to admit defeat.  Instead of being discouraged by her reaction, he welcomed the challenge.  Ever so gently, he caressed her back and ran his fingers through her hair.  Slowly, almost unnoticeably, she began to melt into him.  “What do you have to lose?”

She murmured something against his chest. He could’ve sworn he heard her say, “My heart.” Something inside him shattered. Gradually her emotions broke and the tears, which had remained unspent for so long, sought release.  He wiped and kissed them away.

“Let me hold you tonight,” he murmured against her temple.  He could feel her begin to stiffen again.  “We won’t go to bed.  We’ll just build a fire and lay out here under the stars all night long.”  He hadn’t really thought this through.  The old Gavin would’ve checked the weather report to ensure the temperature wouldn’t drop too low, and there was zero chance of rain overnight.  This new Gavin cared only about making Hannah happy at any cost.

There would be blankets and a fire to protect them from the chill.  There was a covered lanai to protect them from the rain.  All that mattered was Hannah felt comforted and loved.

COVER REVEAL: LUCKY PENNY BY L.A. COTTON

Title: Lucky Penny
Author: L.A. Cotton
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Daniela Conde Padrón of DCP Designs
Photographer & Model: Mandy Hollis of MHPhotography
 Release Date: November 30, 2015

Blurb

I was his lucky Penny. He was my light in the dark, hope in despair. Our bond was one of survival, friendship... first love.

But then we were ripped apart and Blake Weston became the memory I turned to when everything else in my life fell apart.

Seven years later, a summer working at Camp Chance is supposed to be my fresh start. Beautiful scenery and the chance to better the lives of foster children--kids like me. But when my eyes land on him across the fire, time stands still and feelings come rushing back to the surface. I thought I'd moved on, tucked him away in my heart. One look into his soulful blue eyes and I know I'm wrong. Blake Weston can heal the broken parts of me. Restore my hope. Love me.

It's our second chance. A sign we are supposed to be together.

Isn't it?

I was twelve when I survived the accident that killed my parents. Fourteen when I survived the devil. And sixteen, when I survived a heartbreak of the worst kind.

But in my twenty-three years, Blake Weston might just be the first thing I won't survive.

Excerpt

“You look like you’ve seen a ghost, Penny?” Marissa nudged me again, only this time when I turned to face her she was wearing a look of confusion, while I was trying to fight back the panic rising in me.

“I, I’m not sure. The tall one, he looked familiar.”

“You mean Blake?”

Blake?

My heart beat in double time.

Then crashed.

And for a moment I was certain it stopped beating.

Everything stopped.

I couldn’t breathe.

I couldn’t swallow.

I couldn’t get out the words almost choking me.

“Penny?”

My eyes snapped up at the sound of Marissa’s voice, and something caught my attention. Through the flames I saw the two guys talking. The one I thought I recognized was listening to the other guy, but he wasn’t looking at his friend. His blue eyes were set firmly on me.

Eyes I’d spent days and nights dreaming of.

Eyes that had kept the nightmares at bay.

Eyes I thought I’d never see again.

“Penny, you’re freaking me out a little over here.”

Marissa’s voice deflected off my impending meltdown. I came to Camp Chance to heal. Not to have every scar I’d ever been inflicted with ripped open again and laid bare.

But my past and present had just collided.

I never thought I'd see Blake Weston again, but he was sitting across the fire from me.

A ghost from my past.

Looking right at me.

About DIRTY TALK

Brent Payton has a reputation for wanting to have fun, all the time. It’s well-earned after years of ribbing his brothers and flirting with every girl he meets, but he’s more than just a good time, even though nobody takes the time to see it. When a new girl walks into his family’s garage with big thoughtful eyes and legs for days, this mechanic wants something serious for the first time.

Ivy Dawn is done with men, all of them. She and her sister uprooted their lives for them too many times and she’s not willing to do it again. Avoiding the opposite sex at all costs seems easy enough, until the sexy mechanic with the dirty mouth bursts into her life.

Brent can’t resist the one woman who sees past his devil-may-care facade and Ivy finds it harder and harder to deny how happy he makes her. But Ivy has secrets she hasn’t shared and when the truth comes out, she must decide if she’s willing to take one more chance on love or let him go forever.

 Where to buy DIRTY TALK

SARAH'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

Dirty Talk is the second book in Megan Erickson's Mechanics of Love series. This book focuses on Brett Payton the fun loving ladies man of the Payton family.

Brett Payton works as a mechanic at his family's shop. He has always been known as the irresponsible brother and is hoping to be able to change his family's view of him. There is more to him than he lets people see and he secretly would love to become a firefighter as he loves helping people. He has always been quite the ladies man until Ivy walks into his life and does everything she can to push him away. There is something about her that he finds very attractive and he will do whatever it takes to make her see that not all men are bad.

”She is … more than hot. But it’s not just that. I like her kid. Violet is… vulnerable.”

Ivy Dawn and her sister Alex have both had horrible luck with men and have decided to give up on relationhips. They have already had to relocate a few times because of men and have no intentions of moving again. She goes to visit her sister at work one day where she runs into Brett. She is attracted to him but made a promise to her sister to avoid men so she pushes him away. Ivy's daughter Violet is usually very timid around men but she gets close to Brett the first time she sees him. Ivy is very surprised by Violet's behavior around Brett and starts to realize that he could be just the man she needs in her life. Will she be able to convince her sister that Brett is a good man and they can trust him with their lives?

”He’s worth staying for. But you’re also worth leaving for.”

I loved the deep connection between Ivy and Brett. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. This was a fun romantic read with a little bit of "dirty talk" between the two main characters. I hope to seemore of these characters in future books!!

BECKY'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

4 "Captivating" Stars

The story begins with Jaye as a small terrified boy in 1978. Then it proceeds as a story being told throughout a timeline in alternating POV's. James Black tell his story as Jaye White and Scarlet Lockhart-Hollins tells hers as Rose Hart. I could hardly put becoming James Black down. I'll try not to post spoilers ;)

The heartbreaking tale that has brought these two together literally had me in tears! They both end up in an awful situation and Jaye does anything necessary (by anything I mean anyone lol) to secure money for when he's of legal age and is able to escape the foster system. I think his exact words were "the foster farm straight out of a horror movie". That should give you a good idea as to how bad it was. That is until her circumstances land Rose in the same farm house. Jaye becomes Rose's "guardian" right from.the start.

"Girls like her are rare and I want to help her hold on to that goodness and light."~ Jaye

As the story progresses, we follow Jaye and Rose and the very bumpy road the travel together.

"Jaye is my light in the darkness."~ Rose

For the record, their foster parents deserve a slow and painful death. Skye Turner somehow weaves the story so it feels absolutely real at times. I cry with these characters, laugh with the characters and ache for these characters. Poor Jaye/James thinks he is not worth anything and I love how they both open up through out the story and heal each other.

"I can’t let her think about me like I’m some prince. I’m not. I’m the fucking spawn of the devil and the things I do are not ok. Everything in me is dark and angry… Everything except my feelings for her." ~Jaye

Each character is well developed. I could honestly see spin-off novels for Hugo, Raquel and the rest of the girls. I love the way they all protect each other. I could read James Black and Becoming James Black numerous times ♡ Two thumbs up Skye Turner.. I really enjoyed this one
