Sarah’s  5 Star Review:

I absolutely love everything that Kendall Ryan writes. The Gentleman Mentor is a fun sexy read with a little BDSM mixed in. This book is a standalone novel but is the first book in a series of standalones.

Brie has been in love with her best friend Kirby for quite awhile now and she is tired of waiting for him to make a move. She hasn't been with a man for awhile and isn't quite sure how to get Kirby to notice her as more than just a friend. She decides that she needs help in building up her confidence so she seeks out help from The Gentleman Mentor. She is a little bit hesitant about giving over control to a stranger but when she first lays eyes on her mentor she feels an immediate attraction towards him and all worries are forgotten.

"When you hire me to be your mentor, I am in charge. I decide your lessons, your rewards, and your punishments."

“You have one choice to make,” I say, lifting her chin so she’ll meet my eyes. “Decide now. A hotel, somewhere public, or your place.”

“I like pushing women to their limits. Role playing, light bondage, spanking.” I grin. “And on Sundays, I take my nana to church.”
The Gentleman Mentor is a lawyer by day and spends his night at the local BDSM club where he mentors women. He enjoys helping women to feel comfortable with their bodies. When he first meets Brie he can't believe that a girl as beautiful as her needs any help finding a man. He is immediately attracted to her but has no interest in a relationship as his last one ended badly. He agrees on a six week timeline to help Brie seduce her friend Kirby. The more time these two spend together the harder it gets for them to deny the attraction they have for one another. Will Brie decide that Kirby is not the man that she wants anymore and try have a loving relationship with her mentor? Will The Gentleman Mentor be able to fight his feelings for Brie or will he decide to give love another chance?

I loved the chemistry between the two main characters. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. The story took a few unexpected twists and turns but I loved the way everything turned out. I look forward to reading the next book in the series titled The Dominant which focuses on Reece whom we met in The Gentleman Mentor.

EXCERPT:

A therapist would have a field day analyzing my work mentoring needy women. Yet tonight was something else entirely. What I just shared with Brielle is unlike anything I’ve done before. It wasn’t just mentoring; it was more. I lose myself when I’m with her, and it fucking terrifies me.

As I rise from the bed, awareness burns inside me that I’ve never fallen asleep at a client’s house. Usually I can’t get out of there fast enough, wanting a hot shower and the comfort of my own bed.
Yet right now, I can still smell Brielle’s scent on my fingers, and I don’t even want to wash my damn hands. She’s marked me, and I know it isn’t something I can simply wash away. My hands, hanging limp at my sides, already miss the feel of her, and my mouth yearns for the taste of her. My pulse pounds in my ears as I try to figure out what this all means.

Buy the Book

my time in the affair

Synopsis

~Mischa~
I made a conscious decision to cheat on my husband.
Now, before you judge me, hear my story. Hear how much I'm like you, how similar my thoughts are to your own. Yes, I'm a horrible person. Yes, I've done horrible things. Yes, I don't deserve forgiveness. Yes, bad things happened because of my actions.
But I'm willing to bet I've done things that maybe, just maybe, you have thought of doing.
Maybe, just maybe, you're not as innocent as you'd like to think.
Or maybe I'm not so guilty ...

WARNING: This book involves CHEATING. The word AFFAIR is in the title. The main character has an AFFAIR. In the synopsis (directly above), she states that she intentionally has an AFFAIR. If you don't like CHEATING, then you have been VERY WELL warned. Also, this book is primarily written in the third-person narrative.

Shannon's 5 Star Review:

Okay, so when Stylo says I'm writing a new book - I jump on it.  When she says I'm writing a book about cheating, I'm like "hell yeah!!". Girl can write a damn good book; whether it's a kinky Satan as in Degradation or a woman who commits to cheating on her husband as in this book, she will draw you in and hold you hostage for the duration of the book. There isn’t anything she will write that I won't read.
Mischa met and married Mike. They've had a good marriage but sometimes it feels like something is missing.  She knows she loves Mike and he loves her but it's not a make your panties wet love.  It's more of a "hey roomie, how was your day" kind of love. She needed more, wanted more, and was going to make sure she got more. The company she works for is sending her overseas to open a new branch and it's this new journey that helps her make that questionable decision.
Tal is all alpha male. Tall, dark, and sexy he knows what a woman wants. He also knows a lonely woman when he sees one. Sitting in a restaurant he watches as a beautiful woman tries to get rid of the guy hitting on her, seeing his chance to meet her and maybe take care of that loneliness she's exuding; he comes to her rescue and forces the other guy to walk away. Mischa is taken aback although very intrigued by the sex on legs that just swooped in to take care of her. He tell her he knows what she wants and he's the one to give it to her. And boy does he ever!!!
The sexual tension, as is the sex, is off the charts. She hasn't felt that way since......ever, she's never felt that with Mike. She made the conscious decision to cheat on her husband but when it came down to the morning after she couldn't believe she actually did it and couldn't stand to look at herself. But she couldn't stay away and Tal couldn't just let her walk away. He pursued her relentlessly and wouldn't give up.  He wouldn't allow her talk herself out of the feelings and needs she desired with him. He kept that sexual awareness right there at the forefront of their time together, which made her see exactly what had been missing from her life.
When Mike decides he wants to visit Mischa she knows she has to tell him. She's afraid of hurting him and breaking his heart but she just isn't in love with him anymore and after what Tal's showed her, she knows she doesn't want her husband sexually any longer. But yet, as much as she's enjoyed her time with Tal she can't help but feel he's hiding things from her, she's not sure what he's hiding but she knows he is.
What happens to Mike and Mischa once she comes clean about her affair? Will he forgive her and try to make her see the error of her ways or will he just walk away without putting up a fight? When Tal's secrets are revealed will Mischa hate herself even more for what she's done, hate him for what he made her feel or will she fight to make an honest relationship out of her affair?
I loved this book. I loved how Stylo actually put on paper what a lot of women feel. I messaged her immediately after starting the book and asked her how in the hell she did that. She is an incredible writer and I am so honored to have beta read this for her. I can't wait to see what else she comes up with; it's bound to be mind blowing.

Jessica's 4 Star Review:

4 Stars……Amazingly Bittersweet!!!!

“Tell me right now that this doesn’t feel real to you. Tell me right now that you’re not feeling the same way as me, and I’ll walk out that door.”

As if the title wasn’t enough, the synopsis confirms this is a story about cheating and for most people even myself that can be a deal breaker, I went against my personal beliefs and gave it a chance and I’m so glad I did. Let’s be clear I do not condone infidelity in any capacity but that being said I found myself wanting to make an exception for Mischa.  Ms. Fantome took a controversial topic and wove it into such a heart wrenching but at the same time such a beautiful love story. The care and concern for all the characters involved jumped off the pages at you in each chapter and drew me in to the point that I couldn’t put it down. This was not a smutty novel about a taboo affair it dealt with very real emotions and consequences for your actions it was well written with class and never cheapened the love felt by any party involved.

My heart bled for Mischa even though she was suffering a torment of her own creation you can’t help but sympathize with her. She shows such remorse and self-loathing that you immediately know this was not an act of selfishness on her part, she was not out to maliciously hurt Michael. She wanted to punish and condemn herself for her actions simply because she knew she had wronged her husband again I was shocked at how much I could empathize with her character.

You do that like it’s your sport in the Olympics”

Tal found a way to swagger straight into my heart. In the beginning I didn’t really connect with him I felt as if he was a womanizer just out for the easy target, then much like his and Mischa’s relationship before I knew it a real bond had formed. He is a man of mystery thru most of the book but it becomes more and more clear that he really cares for Mischa. He is strong when she needs him to be and he always knows exactly what she needs before she does. Falling in love with a girl you meet in a café was never in the plan but sometimes you just have to deviate from your plans and go with what life throws at you.

“I could never stand by and just watch you hurt. It kills me.”

Destiny is inevitable and so are Tal and Mischa they just found each other at the worst time. Fate always has a way of working things out and in this book your get to experience their fate in a very real way. Written in single person point of view but infusing bits and pieces from other characters to allow you to “feel” them as well so much so that I would love to see a spin off with some of the
secondary characters.

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ..., forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

PROMO: BLACK IRIS BY LEAH RAEDER

BLACK IRIS

by Leah Raeder

ABOUT BLACK IRIS:

It only took one moment of weakness for Laney Keating’s world to fall apart. One stupid gesture for a hopeless crush. Then the rumors began. Slut, they called her. Queer. Psycho. Mentally ill, messed up, so messed up even her own mother decided she wasn't worth sticking around for.

If Laney could erase that whole year, she would. College is her chance to start with a clean slate.

She's not looking for new friends, but they find her: charming, handsome Armin, the only guy patient enough to work through her thorny defenses—and fiery, filterless Blythe, the bad girl and partner in crime who has thorns of her own.

But Laney knows nothing good ever lasts. When a ghost from her past resurfaces—the bully who broke her down completely—she decides it's time to live up to her own legend. And Armin and Blythe are going to help.

Which was the plan all along.

Because the rumors are true. Every single one. And Laney is going to show them just how true.

She's going to show them all.

BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW: UNDER THE MAYHAW TREE BY CHARLOTTE BOYETT-COMPO

Under the Mayhaw Tree by Charlotte Boyett-Compo
Genre: Contemporary Romantic Suspense

Keynote:

Living under a cloud of tragedy for which he’s
assumed blame, Drew Dunne has known hell for the past sixteen years. Then he
meets Allison Bennett. But in the small town of Colquitt, Georgia, evil lurks
around every corner and capturing happiness has an incredibly high price.

Synopsis:

SWEET VICTORY
Small-town football star Drew Dunne sacrificed
everything for friendship and guilt. He’s spent most of his life unloved and
unwanted. A kind touch, a gentle smile, an encouraging word are all wisps of
memory from before the accident. For him there is only family, duty, loyalty.
And longing. Until he meets Allison.

When Allison Bennett looks in the mirror, she sees a woman whose life has gone
from bad to worse. At the mercy of an abusive husband, sweet tenderness is
something she can only dream about…until she finds it in the arms of Drew
Dunne.

Not every sacrifice is worthwhile, not every promise is worth keeping, and
events in a small Georgia town will test this pair to the very depths of their
souls, but at the end of the journey is the truth that—if you’re willing to pay
the price—true love can conquer all. Drew Dunne will finally be with the woman
he loves. Or die trying.

Jessica’s 4 Star Review:

4 Heartbreakingly wonderful stars!!!!!

I want to be with you, more than anything in the world I need to be with you.

Let me first say that if anyone has problems with any type of abuse this book could be a trigger for you. I was so angry through almost the entire book but at the same time my heart broke over and over for Drew. He has been through so much in his life but yet he finds the willpower to keep going and given his circumstances that is no easy feat.

This story takes place in some backwoods good ‘ol boy town in Georgia, only the good are few and far between. It seems this town if full of mean spiteful people and they have no one else to bully other than Drew Dunne , and for years he’s taken their abuse and thought he deserved it and just accepted it as part of his life. That is until he meets Allison Bennett and his life is irrevocably changed and he decides to start living for him instead of being the town punching bag.

“When her gaze swung to him, he felt the breath catch in his throat. Then fell in love for the first time in his life.

Of course for Drew nothing is ever easy and he must suffer greatly and go through many trials and tribulations in his quest for happiness. You wonder how much can one man take before he breaks, before he just decides it is not worth it anymore, then you wonder when he will grow the backbone he needs to fight back! At times it may seem hopeless because the number of despicable people out to torture Drew keeps growing and his enemies seem to have every advantage, but Drew has perseverance and he never gives up hope .As well as Drew you have Allison who must also pay a heavy price for love but she does so without question because she would give her life for Drew and do anything to end his misery even if at times she has to sacrifice herself.

“There is not a part of you I don’t love, there is nothing I see that I don’t like and nothing I would not do to have it.”

It’s amazing that for all the evil in this book there was also genuine love and concern that was so real you could feel it, and at times you felt as if you the reader needed to feel that love just as much as Drew and Allison. There was a hint of suspense that kept you on the edge of your seat just waiting to find the answers to the list of questions your mind has compiled. Lastly at the end of it all there was relief that justice did come and I loved the unconventional twist in which it came and I was proud of Drew for fighting back and taking control of his life and his destiny.
I loved this book if you aren’t careful you will lose yourself in the pages and devour it in one sitting much like myself. It is told in single point of view but you do have some input from Allison from time to time so you can instantly connect with her. There is a HEA and no cliffhanger or to be continued so that’s a plus but unfortunately it is one that leaves you longing for more. I would highly recommend but would advise you to have tissues and a punching bag handy because you are going to need them!

Excerpt:

As she took off her clothes he put his hands
behind his head and watched her every movement. Each one was poetry in motion
to his way of thinking. To him, she was the most beautiful woman in the world.
He loved her so deeply he felt it in his soul. She was everything to him and he
wanted to be everything to her. His heart was filled with such peace, his body
with such longing, he could barely contain the feelings.

The last piece of clothing she removed was her
panties and when she turned to the bed, he whistled in appreciation. As he had
at the two motels they’d stayed at on the way to the cabin, he pretended not to
notice the healing bruises covering her sweet body.

“Will you get under the covers?” she asked. She
sat on the mattress, then stuck her legs under the sheet.

“Hey. You can leave your socks on but you took
mine off?” he challenged. “You think that’s fair?”

“I have poor circulation in my feet,” she said.
“Believe me. You don’t want my cold toesies rubbing along your calf in the middle
of the night.”

“I believe you should pay a toll for being
allowed to wear socks to bed when I can’t,” he told her as he joined her under
the covers.

“What kind of toll?” she asked.

“The kind that is exacting,” he said. He slid
down in the bed—disappearing beneath the covers—and slid on top of her.
