Blog Tour and GIVEAWAY: Promise Me Light by Paige Weaver

"I'm darkness, Maddie. Stay away from men like me. You'll only get hurt."

At one time my life was simple. Easy. But that was before the war. Now I was no longer an average college student. I was a survivor. A woman living in a ravaged world. My future was not bright and my life was far from perfect. The war had taken so much from me... but it wasn't finished yet. It wanted more. It wanted my heart. My soul. The one person I couldn't live without. It wanted Ryder Delaney. My best friend. The bad boy. The one person who could fight like no other and love me like no one else. He was the father of my baby. I watched him walk away one hot summer day and I prayed he would return. I needed him like I needed air to breathe and water to drink. Without him I was lost. A light without her darkness. Until he returns, I'll wait for him. And I believe he will return because love is powerful... And so is the light calling him home.

Promise Me Light will ALWAYS remain in my heart. It is a story so different from any other. Maddie and Ryder fell in love in Promise Me Darkness. This book picks up where Promise Me Darkness left off. The world seems to be coming to an end. They lived in a state of war and despair. So similar to the Great Depression. The United States was desperately trying to gain back there freedom. There seemed to be no hope.

“Society was crumbling. Millions were starving. Thousands were dying.”

Maddie is lost, she is in the darkness. She needs her light. “I was now a survivor. A fighter. A woman lost in grief.”

She prayed, hoped, begged on her knees for Ryder to return to her. I lost it several times and tears streamed down my face as I read. She waited, and I waited with her. I thought I would lose my mind. Then she receives the news…

“He was shot, Maddie.”
“Ryder’s been shot! He wasn’t coming back to me! Oh, God! Oh, God! Oh, God!”

And OMG was right! It was like a knife in my heart. Heart aching, sobbing, blubbering mess. This couldn’t be the end.

“Nothing.
That is what I was.
Ryder was gone. My world shattered like a piece of delicate glass dropped on a marble floor…”

Maddie tries so hard to push through her grief and the only thing keeping her “from sinking deep under the dark waters” was her unborn child.

The flashbacks to memories of times with Maddie and Ryder were perfect. They kept me sane throughout the book. You watched their friendship form from a young age and instantly wish Ryder was your best friend.

“All due respect, Mr. Jackson, but I’ll always worry about her and I’ll never leave her. She’s my best friend.”

You continue on with your box of tissues through the highs and lows awaiting Ryder’s miraculous return. I was desperate for someone to comfort me while reading.

“I could never see daylight, only darkness.”

I kept referring to the title, Promise Me Light, waiting for the light to return. Bad news ensued. The war seemed never ending.

FINALLY!!! Ryder…he comes back! He survived. I was so relieved. My relief was short lived though. He was hurt, wounded, struggling to live. My heart pounded and I struggled for breath. We witness him fighting for his life as Maddie remains by his side.

The secondary characters in the book became my friends. Eva, poor Eva. She went through hell in this book. I loved her love story with Logan almost as much as Maddie and Ryder’s. Gavin, Ryder’s brother, was perfect and he needs his own book!!!

Ryder and Maddie face so many challenges throughout their story. A tilt-a-whirl…round and round, spinning out of control, trying to survive, trying to get off and find their place beside each other. They loved each other so much…soulmates…one completing the other.

“I love you, Maddie. You’re my past. My Present. My future. You’re my life. And I will always love you.”

Paige Weaver did an incredible job with this book. She will have you hanging on her every word with her superb writing. An outstanding sequel that will leave you breathless.
