synopsis

What if your dream became a nightmare?

Kyle Summers enjoys a carefree childhood traveling the countryside with her parents…until she discovers the electric guitar. When she first wraps her hand around its neck, she knows she was born to play it.

When she discovers boys, she realizes she has a second passion.

But music always comes first, and when Kyle is recruited to be part of a young all-girl band, she jumps at her chance for fame and fortune. It isn’t long before Kyle discovers that all that glitters isn’t gold. Will she survive when she discovers the dark and seedy side of the music industry—or will it ruin her for good?

~ ~ ~

Vagabonds follows one young woman’s rise to fame past the pitfalls of sex, drugs, and easy money, through fortune and success to heartbreak and betrayal. Five girls build their band The Vagabonds from nothing but a hunger to create and quickly find that they are nothing but pawns in a larger game played by managers, agents, the press, the music industry, and all manner of unscrupulous, greedy people who want to feed on their triumphs. Friendships and lives hang in the balance. Who will survive?

BECKY'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

4 ☆Kick Ass Girls☆ Stars
In true Jade fashion, she has wrote a book in a new series that I really enjoyed! On The Run is book 1 of a 3 part series that is about an all girl band called the Vagabonds. If you like Jade's other books (especially Bullet) then you will have no trouble loving this one!!
One The Run is Kyle's story. Kyle Summers is the lead guitarist in the band The Vagabonds. We are introduced to all of her band mates, Barbie, Liz, Vicki and Kelly. OTR is told from Kyle's POV and captures all the ups and downs they encounter as a band. To read a "Rock Band" book that shows and highlights how they got their start was kinda refreshing for me because not many authors tell the story from the main beginning.
Kyle has an attitude that's alot like mine and I think that's why I related to her so much (lol). She doesn't take sh*t from anyone and that's my favorite type of female lead character I love to read about! We follow her from her earlier year's and watch as she unfolds into the lead guitarist. We get to watch her grow through her first dating experience with Decker, the divorce of her parents and trying to make it famous with the Vagabonds.
I LOVED reading a book about an all girl band (this was my first) and I can't wait to see how the story unravels. I love Kyle and CJ and I am totally invested in their story but I must admit, Barbie has caught my attention!! You will be doing yourself a huge injustice if you don't pick up this book!! I love Jade C Jamison and have read every book she has written! Her writing style is unique and I find myself counting down the days each and every time she has a new release! Book 2 can not get here soon enough!! I am officially a "Vagabonds Groupie"

APRIL'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

n The Run (Vagabonds #1) by Jade Jamison, is the start to a new found addiction to an author for myself.  Yes, I know.  Where have I been?  I have a love for rock stars and never read a Jade book, but after reading this...that ends now!!

Kyle, is someone who I would have loved to have been like at 16 years old.  Strong, determined, knows exactly what career she wants and not afraid to go for it, and most definately not afraid to speak her mind. Kyle's family has lived the nomad life until her teenage years, and they settle into Colorado. She finds her love of music in the guitar and can shred a song that she has created out of some of the greatest music solos from Hendrix, Doors, Nirvana, etc.  So she decides showcase her talent in the talent show and prove to her parents that it's not just a hobby that she wants to make this her career someday.  When the show is over, and her parents aren't there, Kyle knows something is wrong and her life is about to change.

Kyle takes us on a journey through her life through the ups and downs from nomad life, to staying put in a small town. High school drama, meeting a boy and sexual discovery, breakups, and finding herself thrown into the life of an all girl band, The Vagabonds.

The Vagabonds is created and consists of five girls, all very different personalities that bring great ideas to the band. Aside from one girl, they all get along and form great friendships. This is the life that all of them have only ever only dreamt about and if they only ever perform in their garage or local shows, the girls would be happy because it is something that they love doing. But their manager, Peter has bigger ideas for them.

The Vagabonds, are going to be the next big thing! They have rehearsed endless hours in the garage, written songs, recorded an album, set to go on tour. Can they survive their newfound fame? Will their friendships survive? Will the girls succumb to the pressures of sex, drugs and rock n roll?

We shall find out as this series continues! I give this book a 4 Drumstick kickass star review. I will be ready to find out what happens next as Kyle and the girls go on tour...

excerpt

It was dark and quiet and I realized I had this man alone…all by himself and just for me.

“Peter said something about trying to have our two bands do a show or two together near the end of our tour.”

My words came out fine but they didn’t sound right to my ears.

“That would be cool.” My mind was other places.

His words didn’t sound right either because I think his thoughts were in the same place mine were.

“Nice nose piercing by the way.”

Maybe it was unnecessary because his face was already closer to mine, but I pulled the neck of his t-shirt into the ball of my fist and said, “Would you shut up and kiss me already?”

I pulled him the rest of the way to my face but he was moving too. Still, like a fucking tease, he paused with his lips just centimeters away and his eyes scanned mine.  He laced the fingers of his right hand through my hair, almost as if to anchor me, and I closed my eyes.  I could feel the heat of his lips before they actually touched mine, and when they did, I felt my entire body tense up and my soul began to sing.  My mouth opened to take him in and his tongue traced my upper one, teasing once more, making my body tense up again.  My core felt like it was vibrating and catching on fire while my insides were turning into a puddle.  I could feel my heart begin to thud in my chest as though it were going to explode, and I touched his tongue with mine.  Holy shit, he tasted delicious, and I knew right then that I could do this all day.  But then we stopped and I sucked in a breath, and it was hard to reach the bottom of my lungs.  I forced myself to relax my hand and splayed my palm against the shirt on his chest.  It was then that I noticed my panties were wet.

He opened his eyes, a tiny smile turning up the corners of his lips.  “That what you had in mind?”

Still hard to breathe.  “Yeah.”  And speak.  My mind was officially blown.

about the author

Jade bio pic

For years, Jade C. Jamison tried really hard to write what she thought was more “literary” fiction, but she found herself compelled to write what you read by her today—sometimes gritty, raw, realistic stories and other times humorous, light tales—but most of the stories she writes revolve around relationships and characters finding their way through life.  While she doesn’t confine herself to just one genre, nor is there a nice neat label for what she writes, most of her work could be called erotic romance.

She lives in Colorado with her husband and four children.
