AN INDECENT PROPOSAL BY JC REED AND JACKIE STEELE

An Indecent Proposal by J.C. Reed & Jackie Steele

Release date: February 23rd, 2015

It was supposed to be easy.

Hire a professional actor to play my fake fiancé.

But when he steps in front of my door to pick me up for The Interview, my heart stops. Chase Wright is perfect. And hot. I mean like, burn up your dress hot. However, Chase isn't professional at all. I hate what he does to me with his sinfully sexy blue eyes. I hate that he wants me in his bed.

One month…that’s all I need him for. All I have to do is stay out of his bed. But the rules slowly begin to change. My fake fiancé suddenly becomes my fake husband. When Chase offers me an indecent proposal, it's too late to fire him. It's too late to decline.

Full-length novel. Includes free prequel novella THAT GUY.

JESSICA'S 3.5 STAR REVIEW:

Could have been incredible ……..3.5 Stars

“Do you believe in destiny? No I just believe in reality, if its destiny then it’s a heck of a cruel life. Never to be able to guess what happens next, always having to find a meaning. I want to make a choice, not be thrown in it.”
I really wanted to love this book but in the end I think it just fell flat for me, which is sad because I love this author she has always done an outstanding job. We start off with a prequel novella title That Guy you know because you are told that the girl in this narrative is our heroine Laurie but that is it, there is nothing else of any relevance the rest of the book so it becomes a complete waste of space. We skip ahead three months and the actual book begins and it is all from Laurie’s point of view and really takes quite a while to get hooked in to the story.

Laurie needs a fiancé so she hires Chase who is an actor to play the part of future husband in front of her step-father. The majority of this book is Laurie and Chase trying to get to know one another enough to pull off this rouse you don’t feel any sort of emotional connection at all it is very sterile and mechanical. Finally its show time and the step-father comes to town and we start to see glimmers of hope that the story is about to pick up but at this point you are 48% in to the book.

I was happy that the last half of the book picked up and I started to feel a connection with the characters, I felt that they were also growing closer. We start to see a few answers to some of the questions that had been building in the back of my mind and then BAM out of nowhere it just ends and you get the line that reminds to their story will continue in the next installment. I’m all for a good cliffhanger but to just stop a story in the middle of a scene and practically in the middle of a sentence is just pointless. I felt like it could have been amazing if there had been less useless filler and just completed the story in one book instead of trying to break it apart. But like everyone else now I need to know the rest so I will read the next in the series to see what happens.

“You don’t believe you could find a diamond beneath a layer of sawdust? Because I do. As hard as it might be for you to believe I do. I believe there’s more to us than meets the eye, and if we’re willing to take a second look, past first impressions, then we might just find a sparkle we were to blind to see before.”
