Razorblade kisses by R.L. Griffin is a very emotional gut wrenching read. This book pulled every single emotion out of me. This book stuck with me long after I finished reading it and that doesn't happen often for me.This book does touch on some heavy subject matter so please be aware. This is a story about pain, learning to let go and being able to find love.

Emery Shaw had a pretty rough life as a child. She lost her dad when she was young and then when she turned 13 she was put through hell by her stepdad for three years. She wants to get away but she worries about leaving her sister behind as she knows she will be next on her stepdads radar. She meets a girl named Rachel and they click immediately and she encourages Emery to leave as soon as possible. Rachel helps her get away without anyone knowing and promises to keep an eye on Ashley.
“There was light at the end of her never ending tunnel. It was unexpected and it was named Rachel.”
On her journey to get away she changes her name and she meets Noah and even though she doesn't want to get close to anyone she finds it hard to keep her distance from him. The more time they spend time together the harder it is to fight her feelings. Just as they are getting comfortable in a relationship her past comes back to haunt her and she runs without a word to keep Noah safe. She moves to another town, changes her name and starts a new life. She meets Tim and has an immediate attraction towards him. She is afraid to let him get close because she knows there is a chance she will have to run again. Just as she is getting comfortable in her new life something tragic happens that send her running again. Will Emery ever be able to live a happy healthy life and fall in love with the man of her dreams or will her past always continue to haunt her?

I loved the connection between Emery and Rachel. It is hard to find someone who will stick by you through thick and thin and Rachel always stuck by Emery even when she tried to push her away. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. This is an absolute must read by R.L. Griffin.
R.L. Griffin published her first book in 2004. After that she focused on practicing law. A few years ago she began writing the By A Thread series, which is out now. Her goal is to keep readers on their toes, whether it's the plot twist or the book itself, her books are outside any box. There is a little bit of grit in most of her books and a ton of cussing. Most books are enjoyed better with a glass of wine, or whiskey, whatever your poison may be.
She lives in Atlanta with her husband, kid and dogs. She loves to travel and meet readers.
