Blog Tour: Saving Toby by Suzanne McKenna Link

Loving someone through their hard fall from grace takes a lot of grit.

Hired on as a caretaker to the ailing Mrs. Faye, Claudia Chiatmetti is drawn into the lives of the widow and her son — a world where sadness lingers and old wounds run deep. Empathetic to the family's plight, Claudia is powerless against the emerging feelings she has for the unruly Toby Faye. Up close, Toby’s blue-grey eyes expose a need she cannot ignore. His dark past will test her fortitude and expose her to danger. Does Claudia have the grit to love Toby through it?

Saving Toby is a powerful and moving debut novel set on the south shore of Long Island. It is the first book of a two-part story that follows the emotional and inspirational tale of a young couple's journey to find themselves.

*Contains strong language and explicit scenes.

4.5 Star Review

This was a wonderful debut novel by Suzanne McKenna Link. It is a love story with lots of other elements mixed it. I was hooked from page one and was excited to see where the story would go.

Claudia Chiatmetti is a very sweet and determined girl who takes on the position of caring for Mrs Faye who happens to be Toby's mom. She loves her job and quickly builds a deep bond with Mrs. Faye and is very intrigued by Toby. She tries very hard to maintain a professional relationship with him but as time goes on it gets harder to avoid their attraction for one another. Toby has a very dark past and he tries very hard to leave it all behind for Claudia but the past always seems to come back to haunt him. Claudia isn't sure if she wants to deal with some of the people from his past as she has her own issues to deal with.

Toby is a very passionate yet broken guy. He has had a very difficult upbringing that sometimes causes him to push people away. He left town as soon as he was old enough to get away from everyone. He only came back to town when his mom got sick. He has had to deal with so much hurt, drama, and pain in his life that he is afraid to love and be loved. There were times I wanted to smack him upside the head and then other times I was crying for him. Will these two be able to get past their issues and make their relationship work?

“Focusing on what I want, and what I need to do to get it, seems like such a small change in mindset, but it’s made a huge difference. I feel almost … invincible.~ Toby Faye”

We're going to be good together, Claude," he said. "I make the serious girl laugh, and you make the bad boy behave."

It was very easy to connect with this book as these characters dealt with many things that we all do on a daily basis, hurt, anger, and grief to name a few.  Both characters were flawed which was easily to relate to as we all have flaws. It was beautiful to see two people from totally different worlds connect on such a deep level. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster and I am excited to see where their relationship goes.
