Blog Tour: Off the Record by K.A. Linde

Liz Dougherty has no idea a single question is about to change her life.

Her first big reporting assignment for her North Carolina college newspaper has her covering a state senator’s impromptu press conference. Brady Maxwell may have everything it takes to be a politician—a winning pedigree, devastating good looks, a body made to wear suits—but his politics rub Liz the wrong way. When Liz’s hard-hitting question catches the upstart senator off-guard, it impresses Hayden Lane, Liz’s editor who feels she’s headed for a promising career as a reporter.

But Liz is also headed into a secret romance with Brady that could destroy both their ambitions. Though he’s a bachelor, potential voters might frown on Brady cozying up to a reporter. And Liz isn’t sure sneaking around is enough for her—especially when things between her and Hayden might be less platonic than she thought.

Sleek, sexy, and smart, Off the Record ventures into a high-stakes campaign and an even higher-stakes affair to answer the question: When politics and love collide, can there ever be a winner?

Off the Record is the first novel in K.A. Linde’s Record Series and another heart stopping rollercoaster from this seasoned author. If you’ve read K.A. Linde’s previous works (namely her Avoiding Series), you know she is the Queen of Angst. Off the Record does not skimp on the drama and is both anxiety inducing and devilishly satisfying.

Brady Maxwell is still a mystery to me – and I love that. Pieces of his character are revealed throughout the story, but there are still aspects about him that remain unknown. He is gorgeous man candy with a dominant/possessive streak. It’s hard to put into words what exactly about him I love. I just know Brady Maxwell mesmerized me. He followed his family’s legacy into politics and his campaign is on fire. I love that he’s a politician. I’ve read tons of stories about men in uniform, rockers, billionaires, but never someone in office. He’s fiercely loyal to his political dreams, but has a soft spot for reporter Liz Dougherty.

Liz is a spitfire who is blazing a trail in journalism and stumps even the most composed Brady Maxwell. Like me she is completely enamored by the Senator despite her initial reservations about his campaign and political views. My heart broke and was filled with shreds of hope throughout this novel as she struggled with the dynamics of her attraction and subsequent relationship with Brady.

I won’t give away any details of the plot. The fact that this novel is written by K.A. Linde should give readers a huge clue that there is nothing tame and boring about Off the Record. It will toy with your emotions and leave you reeling in shock, but you will love every last twitch of anxiety and heartache. Prepare yourself with wine and chocolate and become familiar with the very addictive Brady Maxwell. Pick up a copy of Off the Record by K.A. Linde today!

You know when you are so excited about a book... that the author starts teasing you with it months before it comes out that you are all consumed with reading it when it comes out that you don't want to read any other book until you read that one.  That you enter crazy contest on a daily basis on hopes of winning an arc, that you stalk the author page for any little details about it.... Well for me that is this book!!! I have been so excited for Off the Record of months and when I did actually receive an ARC I did back flips!  But then you get thinking... does the book live up to the hype you have been reading about... are you going to connect with the characters...  will I love it as much as I have the other books from the author????

OH HELL YES IT DOES!!!  Gawh....  I think I'm still a little hungover from Brady Maxwell!!  I loved every second of this book and want more, now!  This book is so brilliantly written that is draws you into Brady and Liz's story and doesn't let go!  Not surprising its written brilliantly in third person, true to KA Linde style.

We have the Liz Dougherty, the girl next door beauty that doesn't know how beautiful she is.  She is journalism major at UNC and is a political reporter for the college newspaper.  She’s been secretly crushing on her editor, Hayden Lane for the past two years and it appears she will finally be able to get close to him.  Until she meets Brady Maxwell…

Awh… Brady Maxwell.  He is pure alpha male!  He knows what he wants and is not afraid to go after it.  But being in politics, he knows image is everything and with his eye set on Washington, he is not going to let anything get in his way of his goal.  His father is in already in politics and knows what it takes to succeed. He oozes self-confidence and sex appeal.

“The look of pure confidence did inappropriate things to her. She had the sudden urge to jump him right there in the limo. Normally, that much cock self-importance would have been a turnoff, but Brady was breaking every rule in her book”

When the two cross paths, Liz throws Brady off his game. Something that never happens.  He is intrigued by her but knows with an election on the horizon, a relationship is not in the cards.  But the pull they have towards each other is off the charts.  Brady propositions Liz into a secret relationship.  If word got out that he was in a relationship with a college political reporter it would be the end of his career.  But what they don’t expect his how the pull towards each other is something they were not ready to deal with.

“They were slipping away from their arrangement.  The more he let her in, the more she craved for him”

In a world where image is everything, will Brady come clean with his relationship or will Liz be forced to be his dirty little secret.  Is she content in being the girl in the background, never being able to show or tell anyone about how she is falling for Brady?  Neither expected the outcome going into the relationship and the ending had me wanting to pull my hair out!  I wanted more and never wanted it to end!   This is one book you definitely need to read! I felt like I was being pulled into the world of political sex scandals and loved every second of it!  I felt like I was a voyeur watching the story unfold... a fly on the wall behind the closed doors of high stakes politics! And I couldn’t get enough!!!!!! Thank you KA Linde… I never thought politics could be so sexy! 5 huge red, white, and blue stars!
