Blog Tour: Sempre by J.M. Darhower

Haven Antonelli and Carmine DeMarco had vastly different childhoods. Haven, a second-generation slave, grew up isolated in the middle of the desert, her days full of hard work and terrifying abuse. Carmine, born into a wealthy Mafia family, lived a life of privilege, never having to answer for anything he did.

Both now seventeen, a twist of fate causes their worlds to collide, making them question everything they ever believed. Entangled in a web of secrets and lies, they learn that while different on the surface, they have more in common than anyone would think.

5 Shattering Stars

This book sucked me in quickly. Sempre had a mysterious quality layred throughout the book that kept your curiosity piqued the entire time. It had you wondering what was up. It's obvious the DeMarco family has secrets. That they live by a specific code. They have mob connections. My opinion was all over the map. Their were times I liked and times I really disliked Mr./Dr. De Marco because his motives were unclear.  This added an element of intrigue throughout the book.

The DeMarco family lives by a code of secrecy. They have experienced loss and are loyal people. Mr. DeMarco has a tough exterior but beneath his strict ways is a man trying to protect and please his family.  He's a doctor and trying his best to raise his boys in the shadows of his double life. His everyday life as a father and Doctor and his other life as a mob participant. At what cost? And how did this come about? You will explore.. All of this.. in this intense story.

Carmine is an all-star foot ball player that has his bright future mapped out that is until their father brings home a strange girl with a complicated history. Carmine develops feelings and a friendship with her quickly. The attraction is undeniable.  Yet it's innocent it has promise. However, there are obstacles and layers of complications that may keep them apart.  Again, this had my gut twisting and turning...

Haven Antonelli has endured a hard life almost serving as a private slave in a desolate town. She was sold into slavery for reasons that are to be determined.... DR. DeMarco  agrees to care for her and sometimes his harsh ways made me sad.

Sempre  is on of the best books I have ever experienced as a reader. It has a unique plot, is well written and executed.  It also had me feeling deeply connected to the characters and kept my heart breaking!  I'm a sucker for a good twisted story!

Sempre is filled with deceit, strong family loyalties, secrets & sacrifices.

It enticed, broke my heart and shattered me. It was worth the pain!

5 Stars!!

Wow! Where do I begin? This book had it all. Romance, suspense, action, steam... It was just amazing!

Haven is a girl who grew up as a slave. One the day she decided to run, she was rescued by Vincent DeMarco. He also kept her as a slave, but he treated her better than her previous Master. Dr. DeMarco brought her home an  introduced her to his two sons. Dominic and Carmine.

Oh Carmine! He is such an adorable smart ass! I just fell in love  with him. Every time he called Haven his Tesoro or Bella Ragazza I would get chills, and wish Carmine existed in real life :)

He and Haven were able to find peace and happiness in one another! I just can't gush enough about this book!!
