Review: After the Storm (Storm #1) by M. Stratton

Alexia “Lexi” Hanson moved across country and rebuilt her life after the attack that could have destroyed her. She enjoys her simple life in the beach cottage. Life was complete in her eyes.

Noah Matthews is Rock & Roll’s hottest star and on top of the world. After years without a break he finds the solitude he craves at his beach house. Enjoying his early morning coffee Noah was surprised to watch his neighbor sneak into his garden and start crawling around.

They never saw what was coming that fateful morning. Someone else was watching them. Someone who thought she belonged to him and would stop at nothing to have her.

Lives are changed forever when they meet amongst the blooms in his garden. Even when things seem darkest, there is always light After the Storm.

Melanie says...

Lexi lives on the beach in Massachusetts with her dog Pepper in the home that her grandmother left her when she passed away. She has lived there for a few years and has never meet the man who owns the house next door but is very friendly with the live in care takers. Lexi keeps to herself and has no family in the area with the exception of her late grandmothers best friends who are the funniest old ladies you could ever meet! Every LOL was due to those crazy ladies!

Noah is the front man of the very successful and famous band the Last Stand, and just happens to be Lexi's very flirtatious elusive next door neighbor. After years of touring and recording, Noah heads to his beach house on the east coast to enjoy his secluded property where the paparazzi can't find him. When he see's Lexi taking photos of the flowers in his garden he can't help but to enjoy the view.

Lexi recognizes him right away but never treats him any differently than any other average Joe. But she doesn't know how to take his non-stop flirting. She doesn't take his advances seriously because she just figures that that is just the way he is. They become fast friends and started spending a lot of time together.

She dreamed of running her finger over every contour of his shoulders and chest, wondered what it would be like to be held in those arms. How his muscles would feel under her hands as he lifted her, her body pressed against his. Their lips close, hovering just before connecting in a battle of dominance, her fingers digging into his shoulders as she tried to get closer. - Lexi

When Lexi starts to feel like her past is creeping up on her with the uneasy feeling of being watched Noah starts going caveman wanting to protect her.

“What is it about you? I can’t get you out of my head. I stare out of my windows hoping to catch a glimpse of you like some lovesick teenager. I would do anything, give anything, to see your smile. I want to know everything about you. I want to know every curve of your body, to taste every inch of you. Take you places you’ve never been before. Protect you. Cherish you. Make love to you. No one has ever had this effect on me before. You already matter too much to me. I’m going to take care when it comes to you. I won’t use you and throw you away like I’ve done in the past. I’m going to prove to you that I am more than just some rocker who used to party too hard and didn’t care for anyone but himself.  If I have to spend the next eighty years proving to you how much you mean to me, I will do it every single day.” - Noah

Noah and Lexi are so cute together! The suspense that is lurking in the background of the love story keeps you on your toes and turning the pages. It makes it a very unpredictable story line and I want to read book two, to see what develops next.

This author has a lot of potential and is one to watch for future works.

3.75 STARS!

M. Stratton is an International Amazon bestselling author in the romantic suspense and mystery suspense categories for her debut novel After the Storm. She is a self-proclaimed dork that loves to make people laugh and can trip over nothing. Her inner rock star is always on stage performing to a sold out crowd but is quiet and shy on the outside.

She lives with her husband and son in Arizona, which is a big difference from where she grew up north of Chicago Illinois. As an only child she learned to tell herself stories to make the long winters go by quicker while dreaming of summer vacations. Now as an adult she still makes up stories to pass the time, but now she writes them down to share with other people.

When not writing you can find M. watching football (Go Bears!), NASCAR, or classic movies, watching her husband and father restore classic cars, and seeing who can be sillier, her or her son, and of course reading.
