EMERGE

Laney Walker is a quick witted, athletic, southern tomboy who lets few get too close, using her sarcastic zingers to deflect. She also has no idea how others view her since Evan, her best friend, has coveted her since they were children. But college puts a gap between Laney and Evan that neither of them were prepared for- old relationships are tested, new ones are formed and nothing will ever be the same.

Especially when in walks one Dane Kendrick, not at all the familiar, southern charmer of home, but an animal all his own.

A story of growing up, friendship, loyalty, first love, primal love...and life.

N/A Coming of Age- MATURE audiences.

What Jennifer D Says...

5 Stars!!

I thought this was a great coming of age novel from S.E. Hall. You think you know how all books about high school sweethearts having to go away to college are going to end. You start reading them thinking its going to be the same song and dance about young love but I was so pleasantly surprised that this was not your normal YA romance book. I loved the characters and enjoyed their story and thought I had everything figured out only to be proven wrong! And I loved it!

We start out with Laney and Evan meeting when they were 10 years old when Evan moved down the street from Laney and when a bully brings the two together, they will forever be best friends. Fast forward until their senior high in high school. Finally Lanely and Evan have decided to move their relationship from the friend zone to something more. Evan was accepted to the University of Georgia on a football scholarship but Laney was not, she is forced to accept a scholarship offer from Southern, which is a couple hours away from UGA. Laney is raised by only her Father and cannot afford not to be scholarship. They decide that they should stay friends during their college time apart. "If you love something, let it go. If it comes back it's yours".

Laney starts her freshman year at Southern and Evan and Lanely's best friend Kaitlyn are at UGA. Laney is heartbroken that she cannot be at UGA but with the help of her new roommate Bennett she decides to make the most of it. While on a dorm crawl, they are able to meet others in their co-ed dorm. They have instant connections to some of the guys and quickly become friends and quickly form their "crew". They all hang out regularly in each other dorms. It’s a welcome distraction for Laney as she has not heard from Evan in a while. When she receives a text from Kaitlyn showing him doing a body shot from a busty female, she figures he has moved on and is living the college experience. Since she sees that Evan has moved on she decides she should have fun as well. I loved the chemistry between their circle of friends and made me wish I could go back to college and experience it all over again!

Enter the handsome Dane... he does not go to Southern but his brother is part of the crew so he is around a lot. He has an instant connection with Laney and she agrees to go on a date with him. What she feels with Dane is something she has never felt before, not even with Evan who she thought was the love of her life. She is torn about her feelings. She knows she loves Evan but he is not here and she thinks he doesn’t feel the same for her. That he is enjoying his college life. While on a visit home, she and Evan reconnect. They discover not all is perfect and others are working against them. Secrets are exposed. Things neither of them could know.

Can her and Evan work things out and be the happily ever after they both dreamed of. What about Dane? The feelings she has for him are so different than what she feels for Evan. Who will get the happy ending? I so did not see the ending coming as it did! I cannot wait to read Embrace, the 2nd book in the series!

EMBRACE

Evan Allen is a handsome, athletic, southern gentleman who now attends Georgia Southern University for no good reason.

After what he expected to be the romantic gesture of the century, Evan is looking at no friends, a year of ineligibility on the football team, and no girl.

He's starting over alone and doesn't know quite how to proceed. Certain members of The Crew refuse to let him face things by himself, taking him under their wing, and it doesn't take the ladies long to notice him, either.

Sometimes life doesn't go as you had planned. Sometimes it goes better.

Embrace it.

Embrace, the second book in the Evolve Series by S.E. Hall, follows the characters from her debut New Adult romance, Emerge.

What Jennifer D Says...

Another 5 Star Review!!

I don’t know what there is about young love that I love to read about but I just love it! Embrace picks up right where Emerge left off and continues with an alternating POV. What I loved even more was even though this is Evan’s story, we still get POV from Laney and Dane. I felt like it was a true continuation from Emerge and didn’t feel like I was missing the original story of Laney and Dane.

So we have Evan, the good ole country boy that left his full scholarship at UGA to follow his heart to Southern to be with Laney only to have his heart broken. He quickly finds a friend in Sawyer, his complete opposite. I loved the wit and comedy of the interaction between them. With Sawyer’s help, he gets him out and about and to convince Evan to forget about Laney. He meets the prim and proper Whitely. She was raised with money and is so different that Laney. Evan instantly falls for her but because of what went down with Laney, he is afraid to act on it. He decides that they should just be friends for now. He goes on several blind dates that are pure disasters. He then decides to ask Whitely on a date take it from there. I love that Evan is the true gentlemen and is the big softy that knows how to treat a lady. Evan has always thought him and Laney would end of together but he soon he realizes that his true love is not who he expects it to be.

“Maybe your true self only thrives in the accompaniment of the one made to bring it out in you”- Evan

With Evan’s story unwrapping we still have Laney and Dane. The author does a wonderful job linking the two stories and not once did I ever feel lost or confused about the other story. The love they have for each continues to grow but we also learn more about Dane’s secret and when it’s exposed, he is afraid that it will push Laney away forever.

“You are the best thing about me. The only thing is the whole world more beautiful than you is my love for you” –Dane

I love a good love story and with these we get two! We have the continuation of one story and the blossoming of another that I didn’t want to end. I love the characters and felt like I knew them all. It makes you wish that you lived in Georgia and went to Southern with all of them! I loved this story and cannot wait for Sawyers book as he is hands down my favorite character.

ENTANGLED

Things heat up, and not just the Georgia summertime, when Dane and Laney go head to head over plans for her new duplex. But Laney's got his number, and knows just how to coerce her bossy, domineering man. Spend the summer with the gang and find out...just how many is a crowd?

The members of the Evolve Crew are getting older; so is the content. Mature audiences recommended.

Optimal reading order: Emerge, Embrace, Entangled
