Blurb:

Mia Kelly is a twenty-five-year-old walking Gap ad who thinks she has life figured out when her father’s sudden death uproots her from slow-paced Ann Arbor to New York City’s bustling East Village. There she discovers her father’s spirit for life and the legacy he left behind with the help of an old café, a few eccentric friends, and one charming musician.

Will Ryan is good-looking, poetic, spontaneous, and on the brink of fame when he meets Mia, his new landlord, muse, and personal heartbreaker.

A story of self-discovery and friendship, Sweet Thing shines light on the power of loving and letting go.

Julie says:

Sweet Thing is one of the best ones I have read lately.  There is love, humor, and hurt all in one incredible book.

Mia and Will met on a plane.  He hated flying and she helped to keep him occupied during their flight.  But, Will certainly kept her amused.  He is hilarious and oh so witty.  He says some of the craziest things and you can’t help but laugh.

Both of them are musicians and share their passion for music.  Mia has been hurt by her father and is afraid to have feelings for a musician.  She thinks they will always leave her behind and that she has to find a good stable and secure man with a bright future ahead, not a starving artist.

She is going to run her dad’s café since he passed away and has a room for rent.  Will takes the room and becomes one of the best roommates anyone could ask for.  From the moment he sees Mia, he sees something in her that he wants to get to know better and being her roommate is the one way to get closer to her.

“You’re beautiful and amazing and you have a special soul.” – Will

She tells Will he is not her type and has no idea how much she hurts him.  She thinks he is going to leave her once he gets famous, so she continues to push him away.  She tries to date and sees him trying to move on.  After they share a mutual loss, she realizes how much she cares for him and wants more than a friendship.

“Never let me go.” – Mia

When Will gets the offer of a lifetime to make his music career soar, she goes with him and tries to push him into more than he wants.  Does she make him choose between her and his career or will he give it all up for love?   He knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to get it but will she support him no matter what decision he makes?

I will definitely say this is a 5 star book and I think I could have read more about them.  Mia seems so incomplete until Will came into her life.  And Will?  Oh, he is one sexy man and knows what he wants.  He is one of the best characters I have read about in a book and I look forward to reading more books by Renee in the future.  This should be one of your next reads!!

Bio:

Renee’s first friends were the imaginary kind and even though her characters haven’t gone away, thankfully the delusions have. She admits she’s a wildly hopeless romantic and she blames 80’s movies staring Molly Ringwald for that. She lives in Southern California with her husband, two sons, and their sweet dog June. When she’s not at the beach with her boys or working on the next book, she likes to spend her time reading, going to concerts, and eating dark chocolate.
