Blurb:

In the follow-up to Colleen Hoover’s #1 New York Times bestseller Hopeless, the charming and irresistible Dean Holder tells the passionate story that has melted thousands of hearts.

In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery.

Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him…

Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs.

Leary says:

I fell in love with Dean Holder in Hopeless and never thought I could love one of my book boyfriends any more but I fell for him even more through Losing Hope. Dean Holder is officially my #1 book boyfriend and I wouldn’t change that for the world. If you haven’t read Hopeless please, I beg of you, read it before you read Losing Hope. You HAVE to read the story from Skys POV. I swear you won't be disappointed and you will be so happy you experienced everything with her first.
Losing Hope isn’t simply a retelling of Hopeless from Holders POV. We got to know Sky during Hopeless and venture through her world of discovery, pain, anger, and love but Losing Hope has given us the opportunity to learn of Holders guilt, anger, confusion, love, and how he felt being so unbelievably hopeless before, during, and after Hopeless. Yes, the same events happen and we know what the outcome of Sky and Holder will be but what we didn’t know is what made this story truly magnificent.
I had the weirdest feelings through the entire story; my heart was breaking for Holder with every word yet I was ok with it, and that’s insane isn’t it?! Why the hell would I be ok while my heart was breaking?! It’s simply the words, such beautiful words on each and every single page. My heart literally ached with every word about Les and soared with every interaction with Sky. After reading the first 1% I knew I was going to be an emotional wreck by 10% and I was. I literally sat there and cried for Holder, Les, and Sky but especially for Holder and how much this beautiful soul has carried on his shoulders for all these years.
“I try to think of when the thoughts finally stopped, but I’m not so sure they have. I still think about her more than I should. It’s been years now, but every time I look up at the sky I think about her.”
As my heart continued to break it was being mended at the same time, it’s seriously an utterly weird feeling. To truly understand what Holder was going through and every emotion he felt made me complete. You can’t help wanting Holder to be yours, only yours. I would climb mountains and run from everything in my life for Holder (creepy huh?)
“I wonder if it’s possible for people to fall in love with a person one characteristic at a time, or if you fall for the entire person at once. Because I think I just fell in love with her wit. And her bluntness. And maybe even her mouth..”
Holder, I fell in love with you all over again within the first page and continued over the highest cliff until the very end. As I’m falling over this cliff I am reminded over and over again what Sky is feeling and how every emotion that she feels, he feels.
“I am mad at you Holder, but no matter how mad I’ve been, I never for one second stopped wanting you here with me.”
Are these two meant to be together? Hell yes. So ok Sky, you win..I’ll back off. But he’ll forever be my #1 book boyfriend (or at least until Ms. Hoover writes another fantastic character). Thank you Colleen Hoover for having such a magical touch with words, I will forever be in your debt for bringing such a fantastic story into this world.
Clearly this epic story has earned 5++++++ stars from me!
"Colleen?" I whisper.
She inhales a quick breath. "Yeah?"
I inhale a slow one. "I live you."
