BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW: LUX, BOOK 3 IN THE NOCTE TRILOGY.

CourtneyCole-Lux-LaunchGraphic-600px

The dramatic series finale to Courtney Cole's bestselling Nocte trilogy!

CourtneyCole-Lux-Cover-250px

My name is Calla Price and I'm broken.

My pieces are all around me, floating on the wind, even as I desperately try to grasp them.

Who is dead? Alive? Insane?

What is the truth?

I don't know.

I do know this: The darkness is strangling me. With every breath, I choke on another lie.

My mind has protected me, but that shield will soon be lowered.

All will be revealed.

Every answer to every question.

It's all been leading to this.

Don't be afraid.

Be terrified.

MICHELLE'S 5 STAR REVIEW:

I have never had a series draw me in like The Nocte series. It demanded to be read and it demanded to be read from the very first book till the very last, it captured all my attention and had my heart and mind on the line the entire time.  It was a wild, exciting, thrilling, dangerous ride and I loved every minute of it!

It made absolutely no sense at all and made perfect sense all at the same time...which doesn't make any sense, but in itself, makes perfect sense.  The  exquisite intricacy of the layers upon layers in this story is uncanny, unlike anything I've read.  Trying to guess at what happens next will only leave you feeling empty and hollow, until Lux.  Until we get the conclusion, all the answers that we were seeking.  You have one question left, Ask it. What IS the secret?

I am in Awe of Miss Cole on keeping the timeline straight, I don't how she did it without loosing her sanity while doing it, but it all makes sense. It all falls together and we finally get all those missing pieces of the puzzle. It will all make perfect sense.

I'm just going to throw this out there right now, Miss Cole, I LOVED the Authors note at the end and you have a new fan.  Thank you!  I can't even begin to describe all the emotions that Calla, Dare and Finn's story has brought forth.  Well done!

This may well be one of the hardest reviews I've ever had to write.  The complexity of the story deserves to be experiences first hand.  And if you have read the first 2 books and Novella, then you definitely don't want to miss this epic conclusion. If you haven't read Nocte and Verum yet, stop right here. Don't read any further and go get them, you may find spoilers in this review.

**My name is Calla Price and I’m broken.
My pieces are all around me, floating on the wind, even as I desperately try to grasp them.
Who is dead? Alive? Insane?
What is the truth?
I don’t know.  I
do know this: The darkness is strangling me.  With every breath, I choke on another lie.
My mind has protected me, but that shield will soon be lowered.
All will be revealed.
Every answer to every question.
It’s all been leading to this.
Don’t be afraid.
Be terrified.

The terrifying tale continues, what is real?  Does Calla know? Does Dare or Finn?  Does anyone?  We have seen the story unfold many, many ways around Calla, Dare and Finn and now, THE END IS COMING.   THE END IS COMING.  THE END IS COMING.

Calla knows what is truth, she just can't seem to remember.  Her memory still comes in flashes.  She has to find the truth, the truth of Dare's secret.  Her heart is afraid, its telling her to be afraid of Dare.  She doesn't understand why, but she must find out.  She must find out his secret, she remembers him telling her that he did a terrible thing.  When she finds out, will she see him as the monster he thinks he is?

She sees flashes of fire, of smoke, of falling, of water, of Dare with his shirt all bloody. It doesn't make sense, but it will.  She must go back to Whitley and find all the answers.  The answers that her mind knows, the answers that she must accept and come to terms with.  And she must choose.  She has a choice to make and only she can make it. She must make the right choice.

Calla is lost, she is unsure of where to start.  She confides this to Finn.  He tells her when he feels lost, he re-traces his steps.  He tells her to not be fooled, and to search for the truth no matter how much pain she thinks it cause her.  She must start at the beginning.

**DEATH IS THE BEGINNING.
The beginning.
The beginning.
I need to start.

Join Calla on this journey in finding the truth, finding out all the secrets.  The last secret she must know, the secret that could change everything for her.  The secret that could change it for them all.  Will she remember?

**“But I won’t remember,” I tell him. “When I change things and I wake up, I never remember. What if I forget you?”
“Then I’ll find you, Calla-Lily. I’ll always find you.”

**“Nocte liber sum,” I whisper to Dare.
He nods. “Keep dreaming, Calla Lily. And one day, we’ll be free.”

BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW: THE FALL UP BY ALY MARTINEZ

Maybe there’s only one direction to go when two people fall
in love at rock bottom—up.

NOW AVAILABLE!
the fall up cover ebook.jpg

I wanted to jump.
He made me fall.

As a celebrity, I lived in the public eye, but somewhere along the way, I’d lost myself in the spotlight.

Until he found me.

Sam Rivers was a gorgeous, tattooed stranger who saved my life with nothing more than a simple conversation.

But we were both standing on that bridge for a reason the night we met. The secrets of our pasts brought us together—and then tore us apart.

Could we find a reason to hold on as life constantly pulled us down?

Or maybe there’s only one direction to go when two people fall in love at rock bottom—up.

SHELLY'S 4 STAR REVIEW:

4 Stars

Sam and Levee meet on a bridge.  He is there to reflect on the past.  She is there for.... well she is still trying to figure that out.  Sam does not know that Levee is the pop princess, as she always shows up in disguise.  They have an attraction to each other but when the truth comes out can they really get to know each other?

I am never disappointed when I pick up a book by Aly Martinez.  She has a way of drawing you into the story and getting to know the characters on a intimate basis.  You can feel the pain, exhaustion and confusion of where she wants her career to go.  She is trying to make everyone else happy but what about her.  Throughout the book you will see how she becomes herself when she is with Sam.  And what to say about Sam, well first of all a yummy male specimen.  He knows he should most likely walk away from Levee but instead tries his best to save her.  As he says "You can't always be Spiderman." The secondary characters in this book also add so much to the story.  Henry, Levee's best friend is hilarious.

The banter between Sam and Levee will have you rolling on the ground laughing.  ”What single guy keeps a house this neat? I gasped. “Oh, my God, you’re married? Shh! You’ll wake up my wife,” he replied, touching his lips to my temple. “Don’t worry. She’s okay with you being here. You were on the top of my celebrity sexception list.”   The sex scenes are steamy and hot.

If you want to read a sexy, romantic story of two people trying to put their demons behind them and find true love then I recommend this read.

Excerpt One
“Thank fuck!” Sam said, swinging the door open before Devon even had the car in park.
“Oh, this isn’t my place. We’re just dropping Devon off. I’m about twenty minutes across town?”  I tossed him a sugary smile then boldly shifted my hand into his lap, purposely brushing the bulge under his denim.
Grabbing my wrist, he narrowed his eyes and called out, “Devon, I’m gonna need to borrow a bedroom.”
I burst out laughing as Devon cursed loudly.
“Fine. This is my place. No smoking inside though,” I snipped as I climbed from the SUV.
“You better have some seriously exciting extracurricular activities to keep me distracted, then.”
“I have Ping-Pong!”
“Not exactly what I was thinking.” He mischievously cocked his head. “But I guess paddles and balls are as good a start as any.” Dipping down, he hoisted me over his shoulder. “Point me to the Ping-Pong table, my lady.”
I didn’t. I laughed hysterically as he carried me inside. Then I directed him to my bedroom instead.
I heard Devon locking up the house as Sam deposited me on the bed.
“Jesus. This view.”  He pushed the curtains back. “Why the hell would you ever go up to the bridge when you have this here?”
“I don’t know,” I answered, pulling my earrings off and placing them on my nightstand.
Oh, but I knew. It might not have been what had originally sent me up that bridge, but it was why my feet carried me back every night. And that very reason was currently standing in front of me with entirely too much clothing on.
“You want a beer?” I asked, sliding my shoes off.
“Nah, I’m good.” He faced me, and I could tell something was off with his demeanor. He didn’t inch any closer. Instead, his lips were tight and his eyes uncomfortably flashed around the room.
It suddenly didn’t feel like Sam standing in front of me at all.
He felt like a stranger who had just come face-to-face with Levee Williams.
Damn it.
“Why are you looking at me like that? Are you about to freak out?” I whispered, nervously moistening my lips.
He shoved his hands into his pockets. “I’m not really sure yet. But I’m gonna need you to stop licking your lips long enough for me to figure it out.” His mouth cracked into a wide grin, and my shoulders relaxed.
Now that was a flash of my Sam.
“Want to tell me what’s going on?” I asked.
“It’s just… I think this is the first time I’ve realized that you’re some big-time celebrity. I might be in over my head here, Designer Shoes.”
“I just make music, Sam.” I returned his smile and very slowly prowled in his direction. “Imagine how I feel though. You’re Samuel Nathan Rivers. A tough, tattooed furniture designer who makes six figures a year but is too afraid to tell his mommy he votes democratic.” I giggled as he frowned humorously. Stopping in front of him, I dragged a fingernail down his chest then teased the waistband of his jeans. “Have you considered that maybe I’m the one who’s in over her head here?” I leaned forward to nip at his lips, but he spun us around.
“Excellent point. I’m going to need you to try really hard to keep it together, Levee. You haven’t even seen my six-pack and huge cock, yet.” He smirked and attempted to return my nip, but I stepped out of his reach.
“You brought beer and chicken?” I feigned excitement.
That one corny joke was all it took to bring my Sam back completely.
With a sexy smile and a coy shrug, he seductively backed me toward the bed. “What can I say? I like to be prepared.”
“Clearly,” I breathed.
He moved in close so his lips were only a centimeter away, but for as much as I wanted him, it was agonizing. “Clearly,” he repeated, his smoky yet sweet breath breezing across my mouth.
His strong arm looped around my waist, tugging me against his chest, while I stared into his hooded eyes, eagerly waiting for him to make a move.
Any move.
Every move.
the fall up teaser use.jpg

Excerpt Two
“You’re overdoing it, Lev. I know this job isn’t exactly nine-to-five, but it’s not twenty-four-seven, either. You have to stop being Levee Williams all the time and just be you.”
“I know,” I responded.
I didn’t though. I felt like a robot parading around in a lost woman’s body.
Smile.
Pose.
Turn.
Toss in the occasional song.
Repeat.
What little time I did manage to carve out for myself was spent at various children’s hospitals across the country.
Smile.
Pose.
Turn.
Watch a child die.
Repeat.
With every day that passed, the smile became less and less genuine, the pose more and more forced, and the turn took me further and further away from who I really was.
My career was soaring while, personally, I was plummeting. Every single day felt like a terrifying free fall in no particular direction. I was stuck in the middle with no way up—or down.
“You remember that girl, right?” Henry asked, tucking a hair behind my ear.
I nodded.
I did remember her. She was fun and carefree. She loved going out and dancing at nightclubs until the very last song played. She slept until noon if she could. Then, fueled by coffee alone, she’d spend the day with a guitar strapped around her neck and a notepad at her side. She had a huge heart, but she knew her limitations.
Oh, I remembered that girl. I just couldn’t figure out how to get back to her.

BLOG TOUR: RECKLESS BY NICOLE EDWARDS

Title: Reckless

Series: Pier 70 #1

Author: Nicole Edwards

Genre: Adult, M/M Romance

Published: October 27, 2015
He’s a walking contradiction...

Cam Strickland, one of the four owners of Pier 70 Marina, has earned the nickname his friends gave him years ago. Reckless. Sure. By definition. When it comes to fun, Cam hasn’t yet met a challenge he wouldn’t accept. In other areas, he’s likely far too cautious for his own good.

He’s his complete opposite...

Gannon Burgess, CEO of Burgess Entertainment, one of the top video game producers in the world, finds himself smack in the middle of the last place he would ever expect to be. But Gannon only thinks he is out of his element standing in the small marina office. Then... he meets Cam.

Rumor is opposites attract.

Sparks fly when this sexy, tattooed bad boy comes face to face with this buttoned-up gamer in glasses.

Can Cam and Gannon push one another out of their comfort zones? Or -- thanks to the events that have shaped their lives -- will the time they spend together prove to be just another reckless adventure? This one involving their hearts.

Reckless Excerpt © Nicole Edwards 2015

“That guy was totally checking you out,” Milly said when Gannon pulled out onto the road that would lead back to the office. “Holy shit. Did you see his tattoos? And those muscles.”

Yeah, Gannon had seen them, all right.

“And I’m pretty sure his nipples were pierced?”

Gannon didn’t take his eyes off the road, not wanting Milly to see the confusion on his face. “Pierced? Why would…? What makes you think that?”

“I could see the outline through his shirt. Sheesh. Pay more attention, Gannon.”

Oh, he’d paid plenty of attention. Too much attention.

Milly continued. “He was hot, right? You thought he was hot?”

Gannon chuckled, amused by her excitement. It wasn’t new for Milly. She was constantly attempting to set him up with someone, and on the off chance Gannon showed even the slightest hint of interest, she was all over it.

“You should call him,” she said, still rambling incessantly. “Ask him out. Or maybe he’ll call you. If he does, will you go out with him?”

“Take a breath.”

Milly made a dramatic effort to inhale and exhale, giggling as she did. “That was so worth the hour trip,” she told him.

“So does that mean we don’t have to go out on the boat then?”

She leveled him with a glare.

Couldn’t blame him for trying.

“I wonder if he’ll be the one to take us out on the lake next week.”

Gannon did, too. Part of him hoped he did; the other part, now that he’d had a chance to get his bearings, wasn’t sure he could handle being close to Cam for any extended period of time. As it was, every time he blinked, Gannon saw him as vividly as though he were still standing only a few feet away.

That couldn’t be good.

“When we get back to the office,” Milly began, “I’m gonna send out a memo and let the team know this is a mandatory team-building event.”

“Mandatory?” Gannon glanced over at her.

“If I give them an option, they’ll stay right there in the office.”

True, they would. He would, too.

Thankfully, Milly was silent for a few minutes. Long enough for Gannon to gather his thoughts about Cam.

He wondered if Milly was right. Maybe he should ask Cam out.

It’d been a long time since he’d felt this sort of attraction to a man; surely he shouldn’t ignore it. If he did, who knew how long it would be before it happened again.

You’ll see him on Tuesday, remember?

Okay, so the voice in his head had a point, but could he wait until then? What if he didn’t get to see Cam on Tuesday? What if someone else took them out on the boat? Then what would he do?

What if Cam wasn’t interested? What if Gannon made a fool of himself?

Gannon took a deep breath.

The pessimism didn’t suit him. He didn’t like to think negatively. Though he hadn’t always had the easiest life, he had set out years ago to think positive. He attributed his success to that, the fact that he didn’t look for doom and gloom around every corner.

So, yeah, what could it hurt?

“You’re thinking about him, aren’t you?”

Gannon shot a look at Milly. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Milly’s husky laugh filled the car. “And now I know you’re lying.”

“What makes you think that?”

“Because you didn’t answer my question with a question.”

Turning back to face the road, Gannon smiled to himself.

This woman knew him too well.

5 STAR REVIEW: TRUTH IN WILDFLOWERS BY KIMBERLY ROSE

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this book because I am a "Dark" lover. HOWEVER!!! OH THE FEELS!! I definitely  have a new appreciation for the wind ♡♡♡
I honestly didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did. I messaged one of my book besties while reading and threatened her life because I was not sure how it was going to end. That's how good it was!! I was definitely proven wrong because I LOVED IT!!!
I personally can relate to bits and pieces of this book so it hits me close to the heart!
Kensie is such an awesome character. Watching her grow and learn acceptance of the bad in her life was heartbreaking at times but beautiful at others. She went through things that alot of young adults can identify with. However, her "bads" all piled up at once and broke her at a young age. She does not trust anyone except her Mother and her 2 besties, Lennon and Chari.
"That was what I had become, after all, a reflection of myself without any definition"
Enter August!!!
There is not enough I can say about August. The things he went through as a young adult are unimaginable. My heart broke for him in the main beginning as I read the prolouge.
"No one needs me. I don't even need myself."
He had his own journey to take and needed to make amends with his past. He is such a beautiful character to watch come back to life. I want my own August. His honesty, loyalty  (which turns out to be his biggest fault) and big chocolate eyes made me melt while reading.
The way August and Kensie meet, get to know each other, fall in love and heal each other is a beautiful journey! Kimberly Rose wrote a story that blends the past and pain into the present and healing. She has a way of investing you in the supporting characters as well! I have an absolute need to know what will become of Chari (August's Sister), Lennon and Wes!!
I am literally starting Book 2 immediately! I have found a new author that I will follow, promote and read each and every time!

Our band is getting a second chance, but I don't know if I can give him one. How do you hand your heart back to the person who set it on fire once already?

SHANNON'S REVIEW:

Missing Dixie – Caisey Quinn
5 stars

Okay, so there’s no doubt that CQ writes a darn good book. Missing Dixie is a different story, though. It’s not good, it’s incredible.

At 25% in I messaged her: Effing Gavin has me in tears. At the end I messaged her: I’m sitting here squalling. I couldn’t help it, y’all. This sexy, brooding, tortured drummer boy had me in tears and his story just grabbed my heart, wouldn’t let go.

I love Gavin beyond description. He’s the right amount of alpha but with a sexy sweetness to him, unlike any other, when he’s with Dixie. He’s had a life you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. He’s lived in crack houses, gone without food, and lived in darkness for most of his life. Until he met the Lark siblings. They took him in, never judged, and opened their hearts to him. And he to them.

Dixie has loved Gavin for most of her life. She’s strong, beautiful, and brave. She knows how dark and dangerous he can be but that doesn’t matter to Dixie. She just wants him, all of him Gavin has kept his life and his secrets from Dixie and he’s terribly afraid of what will happen when she learns the truth. Is Dixie ready for all the answers she’s gonna get? And what’s more, is Gavin ready for everything that comes from his honesty?

CQ takes us on hell of a journey in Missing Dixie. We visit the past and make a trip to the future. We learn why certain things happened in the previous two books and how they brought us to the ending of this book. There are parts of this book that just hurt. The pain, the darkness, the hurt; they are all so tangible. I cried. A lot. I couldn’t pick up another book right away because I just keep thinking Gavin and Dixie and all they’ve been through and how their story was one of the most tragic and beautiful stories I’ve ever read.

This series is one of my all-time favorite series. From the beginning of Leaving Amarillo to the ending of Missing Dixie, this group of people have owned my heart. We get to catch up with Dallas and Robyn and we got to see what life threw at them. Some funny moments there, guys. We even get the future of Gavin and Dixie; have a tissue ready for that my friends.

I don’t know what Caisey is working on right now but I will tell you I can’t wait for it. She never fails with her words, her stories, nor her characters.

Favorite Quotes:

~~ "I want you to be careful around me. But one day, one day I will get my shit together, I will have something real to offer you, and hand to God, I will be someone you can trust again."

~~ "Dixie Lark was like my exact brand of heroin, the perfect combination of everything forbidden. She cured me and destroyed me with one taste."

~~ "I know you better than you think I do. I want all of you. The light and the dark and the broken parts." "I am all broken parts," he says into my hear. "That's all I am." "We are all broken. That's how the light gets in."

EXCERPTS

Except #:  The constant heaviness I carry in my heart lightens a little. I am happy for Dallas and Robyn. I’m excited to be a part of their big day and literally ecstatic about becoming an aunt to my future nephew. But . . . something about the anticipation of it all, the impending burden of necessary smiles and laughter in the midst of my complete and utter devastation about having to face Gavin Garrison for the first time in months . . . It’s like getting the worst news of your life on the brightest, sunniest, clearest day of the year.
I’m a walking, talking, living, breathing storm cloud waiting to burst and rain on everyone else’s parade.
But I won’t. Because I can’t.
I had my chance. My one night. And even a little more than that. “Wait for me, Bluebird,” he’d said.
Apparently I should’ve asked for the specific details of just how long he intended to make me wait.
