Blog Tour:Choosing You by Allie Everhart

Synopsis:

When Jade is given a scholarship to an elite private college in Connecticut, she sees it as a chance to finally escape her painful past and get a fresh start. She’s determined to succeed and that means keeping her focus on school and not guys. But her plan falls apart her first day on campus when Garret, a rich prep school boy with swimmer abs and a perfect smile, offers to help her move in.

Jade tries to push him away, but she can’t deny her attraction to him and Garret won’t let her. Things quickly heat up between them, but then come to a sudden halt when reality hits and Jade realizes that a relationship with Garret may never be possible. He comes from a world of wealth where there are rules, including rules about who he can date. And not following those rules has consequences.

As the two of them try to overcome the obstacles working to keep them apart, Jade is confronted with another challenge. On her 19th birthday, she receives a letter that her now deceased mother wrote years ago. In it are revelations that explain her traumatic childhood but also make her question the past she’s been running from.

Series description:

The Jade Series is a New Adult Romance that follows the relationship of Jade and Garret in their first year of college. In Choosing You, (book 1), Jade and Garret meet on Jade’s first night at Moorhurst College and despite their strong attraction to each other, they’re not allowed to date because of the strict rules that control Garret’s life. In Knowing You, (book 2), Garret breaks the family rules and begins dating Jade. Their relationship grows deeper but issues from Jade’s past complicate matters. Loving You (book 3) shows Jade and Garret growing closer as a couple but also hints at the trouble that lies ahead in Promising You (book 4), in which a new challenge emerges for Garret that could interfere with the future he wants with Jade. Originally, book 4 was the end of the series, but fans wanted to read more about Jade and Garret, so Allie is now in the process of writing Forever You, an all-new, full-length follow-up book to The Jade Series releasing later this spring!

4 Star Review

I really enjoyed Choosing You by Allie Everhart. This is the first book by her that I have read and I will definitely be reading more. I was a little disappointed that it ended with a slight cliffhanger but I am happy that all of the other books in this four part series are available now. This book was very well written and follows a different story line than a lot of the books these days. It is a romance novel with a little bit of suspense mixed in.

Jade lived a very hard childhood with a drug addicted alcoholic mother who died when Jade was a teenager. She went to live with her neighbor Frank who became her legal guardian, and his son Ryan. She works very hard in school and gets a full ride scholarship to an exclusive private school in Connecticut. Jade has a hard time trusting people and has a hard time letting go of her past so she decides its best to just avoid everyone and focus on school.. She meets Garret on her first day of college and is mean to him in hopes that she will scare him away. On her nineteenth birthday she gets a letter that her mother wrote to her when she was a baby and it has Jade questioning everything she thought she knew about her past.

Garret comes from a rich family but doesn't like to follow all of the strict rules set forth by his family. He meets Jade on her first day of college and has an immediate connection with her. He continued to pursue Jade even though she tried to push him away. He is a very sweet and charming guy with some secrets that he tries to keep hidden. Will they be able to become more than friends or will Garret's family rules keep pushing them apart? When Jade opens up to Garret about the letter will he help her figure things out or will he tell her to leave things in the past?

“He made me feel wanted and needed and not at all alone. I don’t understand how someone can affect me that way, but I don’t want that someone to go away.”

“He smiles and pulls me onto his leg to sit. “Why would you want to be alone? Alone sucks.”
I can’t argue because it’s true. Alone does suck. But it’s all I know. When you lose faith in people, alone is your only option.”

The character and story development were well paced. I loved the witty bantar between Jade and Garret. I loved the strong friendship between the two lead characters. They always stand by each other even when things don't go the way they want. I look forward to continuing this series to see where Jade and Garret's relationship goes.

Melanie says…

Take Me for Granted is the love story of Grant and Aribel and is told from both POVs. It was a nice quick new adult romance read that has you falling for Grant right along with Aribel.
Grant is the lead singer for Contraband, a local band near the Princeton University campus where Aribel goes to college. He has his pick of women because they throw themselves at him everywhere he goes. Even though he doesn't sleep with the same girl twice and he kicks them out the next morning, they just keep coming to get a piece of him because he is somewhat a celebrity.
Aribel only concentrates on her schoolwork and what is expected of her by her very wealthy parents. When her parent approved boyfriend breaks up with her she really couldn't care less because she never really felt anything for him anyway. She was just with him because she knows that her parents would prove of him.
Then, everything changed. Aribel is dragged to the bar that Contraband is performing and really just wants to go home. When Grant sees her and tries to talk to her, she blows him off. Grant is thrown for a loop because that has never happened to him before! He decides that he likes her feisty mouth and is very intrigued but Aribel is repulsed by his manwhore ways and doesn't want anything to do with him.
"Just give me a chance," I whispered, releasing her wrist and snaking my hand down to her waist. She was skinny, but soft everywhere I was touching her. Smooth skin with just enough extra padding and not too muscular. I trailed one hand down her hip and knew that they would fill out something beautiful in the next couple of years. I wanted to feel me gripping them as I slammed into her. I wanted to see her pale skin flush  as I fucked her. Fuck, I was getting turned on again.
Her pupils were dilated as she stepped away from my touch. Whatever had just tore through me she was feeling it too. If she said she wasn't, then she was a fucking liar. She wanted me, and I was going to fucking give her what she wanted.
"You have a million other girls dying to fall in your bed. Give that chance to someone else."
"I'm giving it to you."
"Then you're only going to be disappointed. So, just leave me alone."
"Just go out with me. Anywhere. Dinner, the city, coffee. I'll fucking sit out on the quad with you and we can let people stare at us again. Just give me a chance."

If you are a fan of rockers and all of their bad behavior, then this book won't let you down. It has just the right amount of sexiness and angst. I have a feeling that there will be more books because even though it ended with a HEA there was something in Grants back story that was left unresolved. And there are three other equally manwhorey, hot rockers in the band and Grant's crazy as hell cousin Sydney.
I am giving Take Me for Granted a solid
4 stars!!!!

Jamie says…

Every time I see you
You make me feel better.
Every single day.
You push away the pain.
You push away the memories.
You're my life raft
In an endless ocean.
You saved me from drowning.
You saved me from myself.
You're my life raft.
In an endless ocean.

K.A. Linde has really out done herself with this book, aghhhh I freaking loved every single minute of it!  I devoured this book in about 4 hours, and believe me I wanted to read faster because it will keep you so reigned in that nothing around you will matter.  On top of it being a great story it was about a sexy as sin Rocker! Which by the way is my ABSOLUTE favorite kind of book!  I would give this more than 5 stars if I could....but 5 will have to do!  It is certainly a steamy romance and is told in Grant and Aribel's POV.

Aribel is a 19 year old college student who goes to Princeton she is always thinking about school and not much else, yeah she has a bf who she should adore because he is the perfect photo copy of what her parents would want for her. But when he breaks up with her because she just doesn't seem to care about anything in there relationship or maybe its the fact that she won't have sex with him, she feels no sadness maybe loneliness... so she decides to just focus on her school work and making her parents proud of the perfect girl they have raised.  Her roommates razel her about her non-sex life and her breakup that eventually she finds herself at a bar listening to a band that every woman seems to be throwing them selves at that she just wants to leave and go home... what happens when sexy playboy Grant who happens to be lead singer of the band has his eye set on her?  Will she turn him down or will he turn her world upside down?

Grant is a 23 year old who has been playing in his band for years and they are on the brink of making it big.  He doesn't do relationships, he is a Man Whore and proud of it.. he will never change for anyone and why would he, he has the pick of any woman in every town he goes too sometimes more than one at a time.  His family is his band and his life and he would do anything for them.  What will happen when the woman he set his eyes on for the night totally blind sides him and not only turns him down but plays a dirty trick on him?  Why does he find himself chasing this woman all over just to get a date with her?  Maybe if he just has sex with her then he will be able to get past this crazy attraction..magnetic pull...that she has over him right?  Or will she be his game changer of sorts because she isn't one to have sex with just any man, will he stick around once he finally gets her to agree to a date but when the date ends with no sex??  Or will he have his first real relationship?

Secrets and past demons will tear them apart, but can they make it past all that and make there relationship work?
You have to get this book ASAP!!!  You will love Grant just as much as I do... I guarantee it!  Now it doesn't end in a cliffy but it does leave it open for way more to happen... so K.A. I sooooo hope this means we get more Grant reallllly soon!!!!

Here are some excerpts to help you understand how great this book is!

Grant- I don't remember the number of women I'd fucked.  Yeah, that might sound cocky or maybe a bit disgusting even, but I'd never given two fucks.  I wasn't about to start now.  "Whore"  well it wasn't the first time I'd hear that.  I preferred the term manwhore.  I'd earned that title and I was fucking proud of it.

She looked like a cork and I wanted to be the corkscrew--uncap that pressure and help her explode.

Everything else did nothing but dull the ache.  Ari might have started as a conquest, but I'd never met anyone else like her.  Girls put up with my shit, but she pushed my buttons as much as I pushed hers.  She gave shit back to me tenfold and glared at me with those hurricane dark blue eyes like she was going to chew me up and spit me right back out.

I didn't touch those memories.  They were the motherefucking crux of my emotionless existence.  They ate at my very being and reminded me how much of a worthless piece of shit I was.  And so I tried everything to get rid of them.  I tried to outrun them.  I tried to drown them in booze, music, and sex.  I used any and everything to force them deeper and deeper within me.  When that stuff stopped working, I fucking knocked the memories upside the head with the flat side of a shovel, dug the memories graves with it, and buried them six feet under.

Aribel-  Maybe I did.  It was the strangest feeling in the world, but I kind of did want to see Grant again.  He hadn't been so bad once he had actually stopped and talked to me about something other than getting in my pants.  And that last kiss.  I shivered slightly at the thought of it.  Kisses like that made me lose touch with reality and I knew that if I saw Grant again.. I wasn't going to stop him from kissing me again.

I admired his body in a way that I'd never really appreciated it.  I'd seen it before.  I'd run my hands over it, but here in the light...God, he was gorgeous.  Tall and tanned with strong arms and six-pack abs.  His tattoos bold and prominent against his skin.  He had those V lines that made girls go crazy.  I suddenly understood why.

Grant grabbed my head and our lips met with intensity and ferocity that had been missing in our gently embrace last night.  He kissed me like a starving man with his fist morsel of food, like a heroine addict getting his next hit, like a reigning boxing champion clambering for his next fight.  I was his drug of choice and he was using me to feed his addiction.

"You took me for granted."
I whispered before I could stop myself.
He nodded solemnly.
"And it probably won't be the last time.  But trying to make it better
every day."

Blog Tour: Soul Scavengers by Lisagh J. Winters

Psychic medium Olivia Emerson is young, gutsy, and out to prove she’s got what it takes to hang with the big boys. Although haunted by a past that threatens to consume her, Olivia accepts a job on a snow covered island that could make or break her career. She just needs to keep her past where it belongs- behind her. She knows this job could be her foot in the door, and hopefully the vehicle she needs to break into the business and take the next step up. The only problem; she’ll be working with him.

Paranormal investigator Sullivan Wilde has a healthy dislike for anyone claiming to hear or communicate with spirits. To him, they’re all frauds. He learned firsthand that just because you want to believe, doesn't make it real.

When Sullivan’s forced to work with Olivia, he’s not happy about it. She exasperates him, pushes his buttons, and doesn't have a shut off valve for that mouth of hers. He doesn't believe in her ‘gift’, and makes no apologies for it. Yet, as much as he tries to deny it, there’s something about Olivia that gets under his skin. The moment they’re left alone on the dock of the island, devoid of living inhabitants, everything changes. Some unhappy spirits, coupled with Olivia and Sullivan’s burgeoning feelings for one another leave them with no choice but to rely on one another if they want to make it through the night. Can Sullivan and Olivia put their differences aside in order to finish the job and walk out alive?

Excerpt #1

“You heard me, Ghost Man, now please, will you step away from there? You’re scaring the crap out of me!”
He grabbed a hold of one of the columns and leaned his body out over the ledge. “Come on Ollie, where’s your sense of adventure?” he teased. “WooHoo! I’m a flying Wallenda!”
“Sullivan, please! Stop it!” she begged him.
“All right,” he gave in, and set himself back over the floor, safely away from the thirty foot drop. “I didn’t know you were afraid of heights, Ollie. But here’s the thing, it wasn’t you hanging off the building, it was me.”
She whacked him in the arm once he was close enough. “It doesn’t matter! That was really stupid and irresponsible! All it takes is one little slip. What if you had fallen? What then? You’d be frigging dead!”
“At least I’d still have you to talk to,” he tormented her.

Excerpt #2

“You? You’re the clairvoyant?” This had to be a joke somebody was playing on him, and it pissed him right off. He made a mental note to choke Arnav when he got back home. “How old are you, fifteen?” No wonder she took the bus. She was a damned kid, probably too young to drive!
“Nice to meet you, too.” Olivia frowned and followed him around the vehicle. “Fifteen? What are you, blind?”
He gave her an appreciative glance up and down her dripping frame. “Absolutely not, I assure you. So answer the question. Do I need to sign some sort of parental permission slip?” he asked, turning away from her and digging through his pockets for a pen.

Excerpt # 3

“Ollie look, it doesn’t matter what I want. That isn’t going to help you get ahead. I want to see you succeed. What I say about this trip will go a long way to help with that.” He cast his gaze upward, steeling himself to say the words he knew he had to say. “I’m really impressed by you, and not because of that ghost-be-gone shtick you do. Uh-uh.” Sullivan leveled his eyes to hers and gave a remorseful sigh. “You showed grit, determination, and you haven’t tried to kill me with your bare hands. My producer predicted you might try. The fact that you didn’t run cryin’ your eyes out from the place after first contact was impressive enough all on its own. I’ve watched a lot of grown-ass men bail from an investigation, and that wasn’t the least bit reassuring,” he told her. “I know how you feel, and if it’s any consolation, Ollie, I know what I’m missing out on.”
