Blog Tour: Infinite Possibilities by Lisa Renee Jones

Secrets and lies. They are everywhere: haunting her, tormenting her. In the midst of it all, he’d been her escape, her passion. The only person she’d trusted in six years. And then he’d made her doubt that trust, cutting her deeply. But as she’d once told him, she was damaged, not broken. She is ready to fight and not just for survival. She is fighting for the truth and she won’t stop until she has it, not even for…him.

Blog Tour: Review of Shards of My Heart

Buy Now!

Blurb

When I took the vows for better or worse, I meant them. Then I started to wonder if there was a limit as to how much worse I was supposed to endure. Am I supposed to stay if worse means that me and my daughter are in danger? What if the worse was because of a mental illness? When is enough simply too much?

This is a different kind of love story. Read Nina’s journals for a tale of hope, strength of spirit, and unconditional love.

Elle says...

Shards of My Heart is a gripping story about a woman at a crossroads. Torn between two choices in life – keeping her family intact and working toward restoring the love she once shared with her husband or walking away with her children and seeking a fresh start and clean slate.

Nina Powers is unlike any female lead I’ve read before. Part of her is strong and unstoppable. She puts the well being of her special needs daughter, Kylie, first above her own needs. It’s heart warming to read such devotion. Her husband has developed an addiction to prescription medication, and he is constantly lashing out at her, creating an unsafe environment for their children. Despite the constant tantrums and verbal attacks by Shane, Nina remains unaffected on the outside. She doesn’t play the victim card – in fact she loathes the word – and she doesn’t let herself drown in her sorrow over her dire situation (failing marriage, limited financial resources). Instead she searches for solutions to her problems and takes action. As Shane’s moods wax and wane, it’s compelling to watch Nina’s compassion and sacrifice. It’s beautiful to see such strength in such a heartbreaking situation.

The story is a mix of empowerment and heartache. My heart was shredded for Nina and her children. This isn’t a story where every problem is magically resolved by the end and everyone gets his or her happily ever after. This is a true depiction of real life. Things are messy and left open ended. I think anyone who finds himself or herself in a situation similar to Nina’s will find strength in her story. The plot is realistic and it’s obvious Nicole has done her research regarding this subject matter. It’s a difficult subject to address among a pool of literature where every ending is what fairy tales are made of, but I feel like the author nailed this. She took a chance on darker content and prevailed.

I also loved the unique writing style in Shards of My Heart. It’s written as if the pages have been ripped straight out of Nina’s journal. The narration and dialogue are casual and conversational. It’s a unique take on writing and unlike anything I’ve seen. I think this less traditional style fits the characters and story – Nina is unapologetically bold just like this twist on the typical novel. I tore through this novel in a matter of hours and hear through the grapevine there’s going to be more to Nina and Shane’s story. I can’t wait to see how the story continues!

Stephanie says...

Nina's story is a hard one to read. It's not always pretty, but it's definitely one that needed to be told. It's one that can be inspiring. It can be disheartening. But it's reality and I am definitely glad I got the chance to read it. It's not a love story in the typical sense, but it is a story about love between mother and daughter and friends.

Nina is a real person. She has fallen in love with a difficult man and just wants to see the good in him. She is in some way every woman I have ever known. She is a hard worker. She is an incredible mother. She puts others first. She is stubborn. She is independent. She tries too hard to see the good in people. Reading about her struggles is encouraging and gives hope.

This story is written differently than most. It's written as journal entries and it all takes place over the course of a month. It was hard for me to get into it in the beginning. There were times the details of a certain day were kind of tedious and I felt like I was being told how the narrator felt rather than feeling it myself. But--because this story is so incredibly honest and an account of this month in Nina's life I could relate to so much of it. So in some ways I did not like that it was written as journal entries but in others I think it added to the story.

I had a hard time deciding what to rate this book. On the one hand, the story is an amazing story that needs to be told. On the other, reading it in the journal form was a new thing for me so it was hard to get into in the beginning. I finally settled on four stars. Three for the writing style that was just not my favorite way of writing. And FIVE stars for the amazing story of an amazing woman who was not perfect but did what she thought was best in every situation even if others could never understand.

4.5 Mystery Loving Stars!!

I went into this book totally not knowing what to expect. What I thought was going to be just another love story turned out to be a mystery filled, nonstop page turning read!

From page one I was hooked! I was immediately drawn into Chloe's character and needed to know more of her story. After a tragedy happens at the hospital she works at, we meet the hot Dr. Brad Markson. A troubled, intolerable shell of a man who is cruel to just about everyone!"He is absolutely panty-wetting fuckable!" At first I disliked him. An arrogant ass is how I would describe him!
"That man may have the face of an angel, but he is the devil himself"

But, After multiple deaths occur at the hospital, Brad and Chloe are thrust together repeatedly. I could literally feel the chemistry of these two through the pages of my kindle.  I wont go into the mystery of the deaths at the hospital because I dont want to spoil this book for anyone! But I will tell you it is so much more than that! Its an all consuming love story of a woman who absolutely just could not trust again and a man who refused anything more than just sex. Somehow her struggles become his and they learn how to fix each other.
"It's strange, I know, considering everything going on. But, you fix me. You release the tremendous pressure and make it tolerable. It... it's like my lungs are starving and you're my next deep breath."

I would highly recommend this book to Anyone and Everyone! I plan on reading the rest of the books by Lisa Eugene to follow the stories of some of the hospital staff mentioned in Surrender My Love!!

"I need you." She swallowed, tasting the truth of her words. She thought she saw emotion cloud his eyes, bleeding through the blue. "I need you to surrender, Chloe."

Excerpt

His open palm landed hard on her bare buttocks and she gasped with the shock of it, the sting racing hot through her body. She had no time to voice a complaint because he drove impossibly deep and undiluted pleasure chased the pain, causing her to arch her back and sink her nails into the corded muscle of his thigh. Her lips parted with a long saturated moan and she squeezed her eyes shut.

"You don’t listen very well, do you?" he rasped against her ear. "You seem to have a fondness for disobedience."

This is a Mature Young Adult Novel and includes references to sex and adult language.

Jamie Grey grew up tossed around between foster homes. At an early age he shut the world out, deciding he wouldn’t care. Whatever life had to throw at him, he would look the other way. Now his senior year is about to start and he’s been forced into yet another new home. This will be the last time, he assures himself. When an unexpected curveball comes his way in the form of a certain stubborn seventeen year old girl, Jamie soon finds out that life doesn’t always work out the way you plan it.

Beckett Chase has been entitled her entire life. Living in the plush landscape of Palm Beach, Florida, she’s never wanted for anything. She’s always taken what and who she wants with no remorse. When she sets her sights on Jamie Grey and she’s met with rejection, her descent from the top begins.

With a twist of events causing Jamie and Beckett’s worlds to collide, will they be able to put aside their differences or will fate intervene offering an entirely different option?

Christina says...

Jamie Grey is a product of the foster system. Bounced from one home to the next. Jamie is just trying to make it to his 18th birthday so he can be free. That is until he is placed in the home of the Chase family.

Beckett Chase has the spoiled rich kid act down to almost perfection. Her and her friends remind me of the mean girls from high school. When Jamie shows up at her house she puts on the works to show her disdain to having him there.

Jamie's story was a sucker punch to the gut. I felt so bad for him from the beginning.  Wanted to jump in the book and rescue him myself. And Beckett she was a witch! But Jamie saw something in her. Beckett has two sides, One she puts out to her friends and one she tucks away. Beckett can't hide that side from Jamie he can see right through her. Beckett stumbles from the top of the social ladder and she realizes all that she has done to her friends for years. She takes a step back and that hidden Beckett persona comes out. When emotions bubble to the surface that's when things start going wrong. Jamie's stay at the Chase home is in Jeopardy. Can Beckett and Jamie survive? I think you will enjoy reading and finding out the fate of Jamie and Beckett as much as I did.  I give it 4 stars.

Review: Remember When 3 by T. Torrest

I’d spent too long in limbo.
It was time to put The California Plan back into effect."

~Layla Warren

I’ve been in love with Trip Wiley since I was sixteen years old.
Yep. That Trip Wiley.
Academy award-winning actor, known philanthropist, People’s Sexiest Man Alive two years running…
Yeah.
It’s not like I’m some delusional stalker-fan. It just so happens that he was my high school sweetheart back in 1991.
In the years since, he’s simply been The One That Got Away.
We just can’t seem to get on the same page at the same time.
Our timing may have sucked, but the feelings had already been confirmed. Years ago.
At least his were.
He doesn’t know that I had chosen to love him back.
I need to fix that.
And I need to do it now.

Remember When 3 is the third and final book in the Remember Trilogy.
It’s a story about taking chances and following your heart…
and knowing that sometimes, you just have to learn when to let go.

**Intended for ages 18+ due to some questionable language and graphic sex.**

Jennifer says...

Do they give Oscars or Academy Awards to authors? If they did Tina Torrest would take home the gold!!! I have waited oh so impatiently for the final book in the Remember When trilogy, and OMG I was not disappointed!!!! It was like a beautiful walk down memory lane, reminiscing about old times, lost loves, amazing friendships, and what could have been.

The characters in Remember When were perfect. The story was perfect. The writing was perfect. TRIP WAS PERFECT!!! God if I could marry any book character, it would be him. He is my book husband. He completes me.

“Every choice we’d ever made, every road we’d ever travelled brought us to this place.
Every bad decision, every stupid screw up, every bit of drama.
Every beautiful second together, every miserable hour apart…led us here.”

I promised I wouldn’t do spoilers…no one should have this book ruined for them. Let’s just say that in the beginning of the book, Trip and Layla are together again…
and so the journey of Trip and Layla begins…

“He was simply Chester and I was Lay-Lay.
         We were us again.”

The journey was bumpy, thrilling, heart-stopping, like when you go to the top of the biggest roller coaster and scream at the top of your lungs, laugh, cry, and squeal all at the same time because you are having the time of your life. It is euphoria in a book.

“The thing is, though, is that I’m yours. You own me. You always did. This is happening. And we’re making it work this time.” –Trip

I just died…like literally turned into a puddle and melted.

“…The man I love is so deep inside me it’s as though we share a soul, when I don’t know where I end and he begins, when he is looking into my eyes and whispering the sweetest things this side of Shakespeare…” well you can figure out where they go from there. AND IT WAS FABULOUS!!! You felt it so deep in your bones and your soul.
He is just flawless unadulterated…just like Jake Ryan in Sixteen Candles. “Yeah, you.” I have goose bumps. Just like I did when I saw the movie for the first time.

This series brought me back to some of the best times in my own life. Tina Torrest is the next Colleen Hoover. She has you laughing, crying, and she “had me at the prologue” and kept me glued. I wanna go to her house, bring her some aqua net, skittles, Twinkies, Juicy Fruit, and saltwater taffy. I wanna get dolled up, make our hair nice and big and take her to a club where we can rate guys like they do in the Olympics. I wanna be her BFF and tell her how much I love her. She fulfilled every hope and wish I had for this series. I CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE FROM HER!!! She is a SUPERSTAR!!

I wish I could give this book a trillion gazillion stars. Tina Toresst, I love you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you, I really love you!!!!!!

T. Torrest is a New Adult fiction writer from the U.S. She has written many books, but prays that only a handful of them will ever see the light of day. Her main audience is mature teens and twenty-somethings, but her stories are geared toward readers of any age that know how to enjoy a good laugh and a dreamy romance.

Kalypso Masters Giveaway and Tour!

Welcome to the sixth stop in Kallypso Master’s “How it Began” two-day blog tour. Thanks for having me, Stories and Swag.
If you’re just joining in, you can get a list of the tour stops in order at my Ahh, Kallypso…the stories you tell blog page.
I like to take readers along on a rollercoaster ride to experience a variety of emotions. In this scene from Nobody’s Angel, it’s just plain fun and sexy. Angelina’s met two men at her neighborhood bar who are going to watch over her now that her abusive ex has re-entered the scene. She doesn’t recognize the man who rescued her at the club—but he knows who she is.
This book introduces a new main character, Luke Denton, a former college football quarterback for the Texas Longhorns who is now an artisan and craftsman of fine furniture—and BDSM equipment.
I’ll take you inside his head first, since he plays an important role in Angelina’s life in this book. Oh, and for reasons clear in the book, he calls her Angel. Angelina’s insecurities about her body and men will come out in her point of view. Enjoy this non-spoiler excerpt in the “How it Began” blog tour.

With a burst of nervous energy, Luke leaned forward. “Let’s give that asshole something to look at, Angel. Play a game of pool with me.”
He stood up to play it through. She deserved better than the deal she’d gotten from that scumbag across the room, whatever he’d done to hurt her. Not only was she sexy as hell, but sweet and beautiful. He loved the way she just plain seemed to enjoy life.
Luke reached for her arm to help her up out of the booth. He called the game. “Eight Ball.” Ignoring her ex, even though they had to walk right past him to get to the pool table, he watched her go over to the wall and choose her pool stick while he racked up the balls and handed her the cue ball. “Lady first.”
“Stripes,” she called and proceeded to drop three striped balls in rapid succession into the table’s pockets.
Hot damn. The woman was competitive. Game on.
“Luke, I think you’ve met your match,” Marc teased as he rejoined them.
As she lined up a shot with the thirteen ball, Luke found himself riveted by the view of her curvaceous hips. “No problem. I’m enjoying the view.”
She glanced behind her and met his gaze, blushing.
“Can’t match my view,” Marc countered.
Luke watched Angel look up at Marc, who zeroed in on her chest as she bent over the table to line up the shot. Marc had always loved women’s tits. Her dress didn’t show much, but the material fit her like a second skin.
Apparently they’d flustered her with their attention, because she made her move too soon and dropped one of the solid balls into the side pocket instead.
“Play fair, boys.” Then a giggle burst forth and he saw a sparkle in her big brown eyes.
Luke studied the table and saw she sure hadn’t left him any easy shots. “All’s fair in love and Eight Ball, darlin’,” he said, brushing her cheek with a kiss before he stepped up to the table. Damn.
Shaking off the feel of her soft cheek on his lips, he somehow managed to sink four solids in a row, two with one stroke and two singles. She must have realized the game was getting away from her, because Angel sidled up to him and let her fingernails dance lightly down his back.
Luke scratched his next shot. He stood and turned toward her. “Careful there, Angel. You’re playing with fire now. I play to win.”
He couldn’t resist pulling her into his arms. Her pool stick lodged between them, but still he felt her heart beating against his chest. She looked up at him, expecting him to kiss her.
But he couldn’t. He didn’t know if it was because of Marc…or Maggie. Instead, he bent down to nuzzle her neck and whispered, “He’s fuming, darlin’. He hasn’t taken his eyes off you this entire game.”

* * *

Angelina had difficulty figuring out who Luke was talking about at first, so distracted was she by his warm lips burning against the pulse near the column of her neck. Electrical pulses ricocheted throughout her body.
Then she came back to reality. She did not have two sexy men making advances at her. This was just a show for Allen. She’d do well to remember that. She’d almost expected him to kiss her a moment ago. Angelina pulled away reluctantly, took a deep breath, and got back into character. She chalked her stick and sashayed to the opposite side of the table, leaned forward to give Allen the full rear view Luke had enjoyed moments ago, and lined up a nearly impossible bank shot.
Marc kicked their performance up another notch by following her around the table. Just as she prepared to strike the cue ball, she felt the heat of his body behind her seconds before he pressed his pelvis against her hips and leaned his entire chest over her back.
“Would you like me to show you how to make that shot, bella?” he whispered, his whiskers tickling her ear.
Mustering every ounce of strength she could to keep from melting into a puddle under him, Angelina wiggled her hips, feeling a definite bulge against her butt. Mio Dio, it was heating up in here! A bead of sweat trickled between her breasts.
“Not to worry, Marc. I can’t miss.” Where had that bravado come from? She took a deep breath and gave it her best shot, despite being pressed under the steel-hard muscles of one of the two sexiest men she’d ever met.
Mio Dio, yes! She stood and faced them. “And that, boys, is how it’s done.”
“Hot damn, Angel. That took skill, given the distraction you had to deal with.”
Marc closed the space between her and him, and an expression of envy crossed Luke’s face before he smiled to mask it. The man had missed his calling. He should have been a theatre major. Extricating herself from Marc, she set up her next shot. This should be the last. She wished the game didn’t have to end so soon.
When she checked the trajectory of the ball, Luke placed his hands around her waist and turned her to face him. Her heart thudded to a halt, then jackhammered. She looked up at him, a mixture of uncertainty and excitement quivering in her belly.
Angelina reminded herself to breathe as he bent down and brushed his lips across hers. She sucked in a shallow breath and Luke teased his tongue between her lips. Not deep, bold strokes. Just playful forays. Her lips tingled deliciously.
No one had ever kissed her in such a playful way before. She felt her insides clench, followed by a throbbing in her clit. Too soon, he pulled away, but the wink he gave her reminded her that this was all an act for Allen. She forced a smile to her lips and tamped down her disappointment. This roller coaster ride of emotional highs and lows was exhausting her.
“Your shot, cara,” Marc reminded her.
She turned to him and detected another hint of jealousy. They both were very good at playing up the rivalry bit. But tonight was only make-believe. A fairy tale. She didn’t really have two men vying for her affections.
Not really feeling as interested in the game as before, she returned her attention to the table, took what should have been an easy shot, and missed.
Angelina stepped back to let Luke have access to the table and to put some distance between both of them so she could catch her breath. Even though it was just for show, having two men strumming her like a mandolina felt good for her ego. If Allen had been half as attentive toward her, maybe she’d have let him do whatever he wanted sexually—her four overprotective brothers be damned.
No, she had to admit Allen had never turned her on like this. He’d just been…safe. Or so she and her brothers had thought. Wondering what it was she’d seen in him, she glanced toward his table and found him watching her. The expression on his face scared her. Lust, sure. But a seething anger simmered just below the surface. She shuddered.
Stunned at the vehemence in his expression, she turned away, only half watching as Luke cleared the table of every remaining solid, including the eight ball.
Feeling sad that the game was over, in more ways than one, she went to the wall and hung up her stick. “Well played, Luke,” she said.
Having Marc’s body pressed against her and Luke’s tongue playing with her lips had shaken her to the core. If she’d been alone with either man, she wouldn’t have told him to stop. But two men at once? That was a forbidden fantasy best left to her ménage novels. Those kinds of relationships didn’t happen in quiet little Aspen Corners. Did they? Before she embarrassed herself by asking for something they probably weren’t interested in, she’d best remember the script for tonight.

(Adam & Karla, Damián & Savannah, Marc, and in a small part here but with more to come later, Grant.)

Better yet, because I don’t want you to stop there, I’ve just released a new combination e-book download of the first TWO books in the series—Masters at Arms & Nobody’s Angel—for only 99 cents! You save $3 off the cost of purchasing Nobody’s Angel as a single. Nobody’s Angel introduces you to Angelina and shows her exploration into the world of BDSM, but Marc remained so closed off still in this book, it won’t be until the December release, Somebody’s Angel, that readers will come full circle with this couple. The paperback version of Masters at Arms & Nobody’s Angel is 467 pages long, so this is a bargain at 99 cents! You’ll find buy links to all of my books, which currently are available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, All Romance eBooks, Kobo, Apple, and Smashwords, at my Ahh, Kallypso…the stories you tell blog page.
Here also are the direct links to this new title at Amazon and Barnes & Noble
